Charlie
Location: Aliso Viejo, CA, USA
Charlie came to me on a whim. He has a gorgeous coat of dark grey with silver undercoat. He’s my only male and keeps us girls (two human, three feline) on our toes. My other three kits are pestered by him. He is a love machine and awesome purrer. He even tolerates the constant ‘handling’ by my four-year old. They grow up so fast!!

There are strange things done in the name of fun
On the site called “The Daily Kitten”
With photos galore and debates on Al Gore
To keep these ailurophiles smitten.
In cyberspace, one keeps a queer pace
To be free at p.m. 3:07.
So we can trade jokes, recipes and quotes
With our family in this feline heaven!
Or does anyone else read Robert W. Service anymore besides me?
Love his poetry! And you did a great parody!
Hey Rainingwolf, how have ya been????
Had a cold..yuck..but there is nothing like a warm kitty or tow to snuggle in bed for comfort–and hot tea with lemon!
that was TWO not tow…sigh.
Sorry you had a cold, Raining wolf. Hope you feel better soon. It’s true, kitties do make you feel better.

Good Morning TDKers,
Ginny, that is one cute kitty ditty! Charlie is kute kitty, love the m on the bottom of his nose. It’s a beautiful day in northeast Mississippi. We received the news yesterday that we are getting the next Toytoa plant. Yeah! That is great news for our community and economy…….
I heard that on the news last night and thought of you. Businesses like that help all businesses in the area. Good for Tupelo.
That’s great news Tinafish! Always a good thing when a plant opens up as it brings a lot of jobs and business to the area. Hopefully Toyota is a good employer as well. I have owned three Toyotas in my life. Toyota Corolla, RAV4, and now a Camry. I learned to drive on my mom’s very old Toyota Corona (no power steer and had manual transmission).
I thought it was Dr. Zuess rhyme! Wonderful!!
wow meow what a lovely kitty today
Happy wed all TDKers!
Charlie’s definitely a cutie-pie! He looks just like my Linus, only not as cat-atonic!
Charlie is a gorgeous guy !!! He fit right in how great !!! Does anyone have problems with their girl cats getting along - my three boys (yes, neutered) do fine, but the three girls (yes, spayed) do not - there are on-going territory struggles - laptime sharing problems, etc. Two of the ladies are still not friends after 4 years ??? Any ideas ??? Thanks in advance.
OK this one is going in my backpack. Say bye-bye to tdk Charlie..See you later, much later
Have fun today fellow kitten lovers. It is a gorgeous day in Montreal and the last day of February. YAY, could spring be actually on its way?
I don’t usually comment because there are so many comments, but I wanted to say I have a button on my Firefox toolbar labeled ‘kitten’ and I eagerly look forward to another day’s cuteness. Totally makes my day to see another beautiful little critter.
Howdy, Caroline!
Never be discouraged to post! That’s one thing that makes this site so (forgive the word) doggoned fun!
Welcome Caroline!
Welcome Caroline!!!
Thanks for youe post!
Welcome!
Hi Caroline. Welcome!
Hola Caroline, I think we ALL have that link button -no matter what browzer or platform we use.
Good Morning, Instinct, just wanted to thank you for the stimulating “back and forth” yesterday! I was pumped! I also want to thank other TDKers for their tolerance and/or their comments… I realize that there are “other” forums for those kind of posts (I heard you Ivory Bill
). I probably violated the cardinal rule of “no politics or religion…” but it was lively! I want you to know that I do not expect, nor do I even want, other people to believe as I do. It is our differences that make life so interesting. I learn a lot from this site — from food to fuzz-facts to world events. Thanks, again! Nuf said?
I enjoyed it too CatRancher. I woulnd’t have said anything if I thought it was going to start a war, but since I know you’re intelegent and thoughtful I figured it was safe
You guys are the coolest!
I am SO not singing “Kumbaya!”
Oh, thanks Dee…. now I have that stupid song in my head. Complete with tye dyed shirts and some guy on a guitar with his John Lenon glasses…..
There are disadvantages to being an animator - an overactive imagination is one of them
What’s worse is I’m envisioning Bill Parcells with green-dyed teeth!
Welcome and come back anytime we will look forward to your posts.
Caroline.. I clicked on your name and went to your site. Beautiful work! Do you live in Hawai’i ???
Yes, very nice work! Welcome.
Not to mention there is a beautiful, precious kitty on the site, as well. Bridget is beautiful. So sorry to see she has passed to the Rainbow Bridge. May she have warm, snuggly things and lots of catnip!
I agree-gorgeous photos!
Welcome Caroline. I took clicked on your link via your name. Very beautiful colors in your work. Very nice work.
Awwwwww…..Charlie is beautiful. Evangeline, you’re a copy-kitten.
Have a good day all.
*Goes off to Catster to find kitties for the backpack since Evangeline took Charlie*
What a beautiful boy Charlie is. I want to kiss his button nose and roll him over to rub his belly.
Question. Does anyone else have their dreams invaded by their cats? I will be dreaming and suddenly realize that my cats are there. Usually in a non-cat friendly situation. Then for the rest of the dream, I am trying to round up my cats so that they don’t get lost or run away. Even in my dreams it is hard to hold three squirming adult cats at the same time! It must be because they walk all over me and lie on me while I am sleeping.
Yes my cats invade my dreams also but they are normally just in the backround and dont get in the way. id say its also coz mine sleep with us in bed too:-)
When the kitties that have gone to the rainbow bridge come into your dreams or make you think you’ve heard them and you turn around, it’s a message that they are still there, in spirit form, and are telling you that they are fine and happy and remember you and are looking down from heaven…
Awwwwww… that is SO sweet Cheri!
Everynight after I turn off the light, there is a thump at the end of my bed where Lil Hunney slept. This happened when there are no cats in the room. Annie lives in my bedroom now, but she sleeps against my leg so it’s not her. I can feel her against my leg. Also, I “hide” treats around the house for the cats. Lil Hunney’s favorite hiding spot was the bottom of the cat tree. After she passed the other cats would not eat the treats I left there so I stopped leaving treats in “her” spot. Strangely, I don’t get any of this with Whitey who passed a few weeks after Hunney. He preferred my daughter though.
I use to have dreams with my cat Whiskers in it. Usually they were disaster dreams and I was trying to save her. I think I had them because I was worried about her health. I would love to have a dream with her in it now since she went over the Rainbow Bridge two years ago. I haven’t had any dreams with my new kitty Sylvester as of yet.
I have dreams like that also - but usually other cats are there too. I always feel very weird when I wake up, and look around to make sure my babies are still there. (Like they’d ever give up hogging the bed or in Huddy’s case, sleeping on my neck).
Same here about the dreams. Alfie sleeps wedged against my neck too. He also kneads me there. ME-OWW! That can actually hurt but I simply cannot push him away!
OK HM, you can have Charlie now. I play nice:)
Huddy kneads me on my neck too!! It does hurt sometimes, but like you, I do not send him away. He actually purrs and drools while he’s doing it. He loves his mama.
*takes Charlie from Evangeline*
Thanks, dahling!! Come on Charlie.
Petey likes to knead my windpipe so now when I get into bed I tuck my chin (s) down to my chest so he puts a paw on each cheek (facial) and goes at it. I know this sounds wierd but does anyones kitty also use thier back feet and does a strange happy dance while his front paws are kneading?
Yes, I have a cat, George, who kneads with both front and back paws at the same time. This behavior is immortalized in the old TV cartoon “Marc Anthony and Pussyfoot.”
Kitty Massages!! My Biscuit and Harley are ALWAYS making “biscuits”!!
Huddy’s back feet flex back and forth while he kneads me. It’s pretty funny.
HM my Harley does that too, and he has that glazed over look too! It it pretty funny!! Biscuit just drools!!
Cats are such funny animals. Everyday at least one of mine will do something that either amazes me, dumbfounds me, or makes me laugh until tears run down my face.
Aren’t they just GRRRRRRRREAT!!
Indeed they are. They have DEFINITELY improved the quality of my life.
Gracie has a special purr that only comes out when she is sitting on my lap on her pillow and is kneading on me. Other times she purrs but it sounds different. I call it her “I love my mama purr” I picked her out when she was 5 days old and even when she was still being nursed by her biological mama she would knead on me and do her special purr with the treble notes.
Sylvester likes to knead my stomach but has been known to knead my chest area…ow ow ow ow!
Auntie always zeroes in on my throat or chest with the kneading - not so much enjoyable for Mom. I try to redirect her towards hte belly. I love the stoned look she wears when kneading and the hard-core purrs!
Those other cats are the ones you take home in your backpack LOL Love todays kitten, so soft and fluffy.
Many of my dreams have my kitties in them…those gone to the rainbow bridge and my living fuzzbutts. Often, too, I am trying to round them all up or one is missing or sick. When I’m stressed or worried, I often dream of them in danger, but have always been able to save or protect them. There are always at least two of my eight in bed with me…!
They say cats are color-blind, but my Lucy has a funny quirk when it comes to my bed. I have a Texas flag comforter (if you aren’t familiar with the flag, it has a 1/3 vertical blue band with the famous “lone star,” a 1/3 horizontal white band at the top right, and a 1/3 horizontal red band at the bottom right).
Lucy will only settle on the red portion of the bed! Not only that, of the many throw blankets we have in the house, she will only curl up on the red one! Her nose has been out of joint ever since it got cold and we put our blue (!) Korean “mink” blanket on top!
Actually, recent studies say that cats and dogs aren’t color blind, they just don’t see the range of colors that we do.
To them, the world is more muted, kind of like the way things look at dusk
Always looking to spar with someone, eh, Instinct! haha!
Actually, based on Lucy’s behavior, I had already come to the same conclusion as Instinct’s post. Sorry, Dee.
“What if they had a war and nobody came?” FUZZ
just trying to tease Instinct…
I just read too much Dee - from all areas and subject.
I use to weird out some of my fellow art students because as a interest I started teaching myself computer programing and was reading “A Brief History of Time” during my breaks between class.
Good book, easy read
No need to explain, Instinct–I’ve been a news (and soft news) junkie since I was in grade school. I sleep with the tv AND radio news whirring away in the background. Thank goodness for the internet–I don’t have to buy a half dozen papers each day. (Can’t beat that journalism background out of me! But, honestly, I get as much of a kick out of fluff pieces as I do out of “real” news stories…)
If I’m having a really stressful week, I always have a dream that one of my cats is either missing in a hotel or someone has let him out of a hotel room… I think the hotel comes from the fact I work in travel and most of my stress comes from work…. I don’t know what the missing/escaped cat is….
Charlie is a doll.
I dream that one of my cats are missing when I’m stressed, as well! But, I constantly have dreams about my teeth falling out!! I’ve heard that’s quite common.
Where in Michigan are you, Amy? I grew up in the Detroit area–all of my family still lives in Novi and South Lyon and Dearborn.
Hey Dee, I have family all over Michigan. Grosse Pointe Woods, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Novi.
My sister-in-law and her family live in Grosse Pointe Woods. Gee, it’s a small world!
I’m not to far away from any of those places. I live in Garden City and work in Livonia….
I used to dream about my teeth falling out, too, but it seems to be replaced by my escaped kitty dream…. I guess we will really need to start worrying if we start dreaming about our missing cats teeth falling out..
I haven’t had any cats invade my dreams, but I KNOW I hear a cat meowing at times when mine are fast asleep. I’ll go outside thinking that there is a stray looking for food or something-but nothing is there. I’m convinced that at one time my appartment had a cat that passed over and it’s still there. What to do with a spirit kitty?
When you hear the kitty, gently tell him/her to “gohome”… it’s ok to go home. Unless you enjoy having the spirit kitty around.
Wow, I’ve had the same experience. The people we bought our house from had three cats and I was lucky enough to meet the cats when we looked at the house. I think since then one has crossed the Rainbrow Bridge because I hear a cat meowing in the hallway leading to our bedrooms but nobody is there and the meow is unlike any of my cats’ meows. I have also felt the cat jump up on the bed when my cats are in another room. I like having the spirit cat around and he or she knows they is welcome here.
We bought our house from a family that had three cats. I think one has crossed over because I hear meowing in the hallway at times when my cats are elsewhere. I have also felt the cat jump on my bed, so has my son. This spirit cat is very welcome in my home and I hope he or she knows that.
During Katrina, I dreamed we were flooding and I was frantically trying to tie Molly to my chest so she wouldn’t float away while I swam to safety. I couldn’t find anything to tie her with and was getting more and more panicky! when I woke up. She wasn’t in bed with me as she usually is, I leaped out and went running around calling her! Finally found her in her cat condo. I must have been thrashing around during the dream and scared her. It took a looong time for us both to settle down. The next day I sent money to a pet rescue group helping gather up the left behind pets. I have never been so scared in my life.
Awwwwww…..
How hansome are u?? this muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!:)
I often dream that I’m travelling with my cats and I have trouble keeping track of them. Then again, I’m an overprotective mommy to my kitties…
That is one handsome boy! His eyes look so wise for such a young’un.
love the kitty and the cook book thanks MerD great job TDK is a great place full of wonderful caring people. our thoughts are with Thomas and Chester in thier time of need
Your very welcome!
Good Morning and Happy “hump” day TDK’ers!!
Charlie is quite a handsome fuzzbutt!! My, my, what big eyes you have Charlie….
PPearson, I often dream of my 2 girls that passed on 6 years ago, this is creepy, but I often “feel” them jumping on the bed and taking their designated sleeping spots. One was 18 and the other 14 when they passed on a month apart from each other. I sure do miss my girls. Don’t get me wrong, my 3 boys keep me on my toes everyday!!
Awwww LeAnne, that is SO sweet….
I’m sorry you lost your babies, especially so close together. They are never far from our heart……
Thank you! Yes, that was a hard blow losing them both like that, but they both had a wonderful, treat filled, pampered life. They will always be with me in spirit that’s for sure.
TDK’ers, please make sure you get blood tests done on your older fuzzbutts. Hyperthyroidism is very popular in older cats, you may think they’re losing weight because of old age, but that’s usually not the case, my 16 year old tuxedo is on daily meds, and he’s doing great! Some days it’s challenging to give him his medication, but I’m getting pretty good at tricking him!!
Try these pill pockets: http://www.discountpetmedicines.com/buy/pet-pill-pocket.htm
They work great and my cats love em….I have to separate my other cats when medicating, because they want them, too. They might sell them at PetSmart…but you can probably get them cheaper online or through your vet. I’m not promoting the site, above, it just shows you what they are!
Thank you CatRancher! How cool! I had never heard of pill pockets……I will definitely try to use these with Kittyman!! He might actually look forward to taking his meds!
We seem to have somewhat parallel lives. I also have a tuxedo who was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism when he was 12. He’ll be 15 in April and every day I feel lucky that he is still with us. Since you’re having trouble with his medication check with your vet to see if they have in treat form. My Bounce thinks he’s getting a special treat every day when he takes his Tapazol.
I have been using transdermal meds to treat my hyperthyroid Shaddo. Meds go on my gloved finger and he gets a little ear massage. I can’t force pills down because his teelh are in bad shape, and he can taste the liquid meds in his food. A good alternative.
They are telling you that they are still with you, in spirit form, and they are happy and fine and are remembering you while they look down from heaven…
Hey Cheri,
I was in Binghamton NY last July for the weekend. I was at a church for a dulcimer/autoharp gathering. Aubrey Atwater was there and did a concert. Oh, I adore her! You may have seen it in the newspapers. I play a dulcimer now and I’m into folk music.
I like folk music too. I am waiting for an autoharp to be delivered to me, I purchased it just last week. I’m self taught on guitar and mandolin - I just do it for the fun of it though. It relaxes me.
Oh, that is cool Huddy’s mama!!
We have a group here that gets together once a month to play dulcimers. There are people with other instruments too. We had a guitar, harp, hammered dulcimer, wooden flute, mandolin, etc.
I took piano lessons as a kid, taught myself guitar mostly, as I had a teacher later on in High School. Tried autoharp, banjo, violin, but stuck with the guitar. My daughter also used my same piano books at my same age as me when I took lessons. I taught her some and then we had the coolest teacher for her. She got further than I did in my books. Then it became so hard and she quit lessons.
I really wish my parents had given me lessons when I was younger. We had a piano, but my dad didn’t like the noise so we only messed around on it when he wasn’t at home - lol.
The guitar I started playing around 5 or 6 because my parents both had electric guitars (I guess they thought they’d be the next Beatles, Hendrix, etc) and when they got bored with them I took them over.
I’d love to find a group here that got together just to ‘jam’. I have a co-worker and she and I have hung out and jammed before, but we live so far away from each other it doesn’t happen very often.
I just started playing the mandolin about 3 years ago. My brother in law (the one with all the horrible elephant jokes) gave it to me when I was visiting California. He told me his family had brought it over here from Scotland. I took right to it, and recently played Amazing Grace at the funeral of my good friend’s brother.
Hi Huddy’s Mama,
HHMM, you play all those instruments and collect kitties in your RV. That is going to be one traveling sideshow!
Music and entertainment! I used to know someone who played a little folk music and they would have big get- to-gathers, where they all jammed. It was always somewhere different.
Hi Huddy’s Mama,
Hope you’re better than me.
I’m a mandolin player, too! Being half Scot and half Irish, there’ve been mandolin players since the dawn of time in my family. I played a lot when I was a kid, after one of my uncles taught me, but set it aside for my flutes and whistles. I started up again recently in case my daughter might be interested, but she seen to prefer the piano. That’s probably a good thing, since my husband says that mandolin players seem to spend 50% of our time tuning, and the other 50% playing out of tune!
I’ve always admired people who are self-taught on instruments. I’ve been interested in learning to play the flute and tin whistle but don’t know if I could teach myself.
Mary,
I had a wooden whistle, but it wooden whistle.
So I got a lead whistle, but it wouldn’t led me whistle.
So I got a tin whistle, and now I tin whistle!!!
Thanks Ginny, that’s cute. You’ll give Ivory Bill a run for his money!
Charlie looks so soft and huggable **kisses kitty**.
Ooh, me too! Tweak their little kitty cheeks! Kisses kisses kisses…mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Charlie is so adorable. Smoochies on his sweet face!
Evangeline-Have you been in touch with your childhood friend?
Ivory Bill-How is Joshie?
Thomas-Hang in there man!
Chester-Will keep you in our prayers.
Have a great day TDKers.
Thanks for asking Teresa, Sadly I wrote, several times to the addy the kittenmaster was nice enough to give me but so far nothing.
Still hoping
I was released from the hospital a couple of hours ago- was taken in by ambulance, had a major panic attack. Feel better now, but very tired.
T
So sorry to hear about that, Thomas. Feel better and get some rest. Hug a kitty, that always makes my day much better! Maybe somebody will drop the backpack with Charlie in it and you can grab it. Keep your eyes peeled!!
Still sending you positive healing thoughts, Thomas
Sending you calm, healing thoughts and prayers. We care about you.
Oh Thomas…your stress must be unbearable! My heart goes out to you! Please, please be good to yourself! I sent you an email today…if you want to talk, let me know via email and I’ll send you my phone number. I’m sure that you were prescribed medications, make sure that you take them. These attacks are very serious from a medical and mental point of view.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience there Thomas. I have a coworker who is going through anxiety attacks as well. She just went to her doctor and did whole barage of tests to make sure she wasn’t having heart issues. This world can be very overwhelming at times as we all seem to travel at a very fast pace. Take time to scoop up your furry friends and give them some love. I find mine is the best medicine at times.
Thomas,
I am so sorry you had a panic attack…..
Prayers for you….
Take good care.
I too have anxiety attacks. One of the reasons I like this site, is because everyone here is so positive and plesant. Hang in there!
