Oogie

Location: Baltimore, MD, USA

OogieThis is my daughter’s cat Oogie. He is named after the Oogie Boogie character in the movie Nightmare Before Xmas, my daughter’s favorite film. This picture was taken when he was about six or seven weeks old. Now he is a big boy, around 12 lbs and two years old. Then, he fit in your hand. He’s bad, but he’s so much fun.

My baby brother has a kit he calls Mrs. Bad because she always has her claws out and is always in to mishcief. Her other nick name is Velcro, because she sticks to whatever she is on when you pick her up. Very funny pair! :-P

Uncle Floyd aired mostly in New Jersey although I think he ended up having a late, late night show in New York for about 10 minutes. He was a nightclub entertainer who did a very low budget kiddy show. Check him out at his website, which is, not surprisingly, unclefloyd.com.

He’s actually still a night club entertainer. he appears regularly in and around the Metro NY area. He’s been hosting an Italian Language program on WRTN out of Westchester County for years. He can also be heard on “The Wiseguys” radio show on Satellite radio.

Oogie such a tiny kit of white
In this photo; he’s just so slight
Now this kitty is become a bounder
The life of the party, a big twelve-pounder.

We have some TDKers here
Who were Oogie to come near
Would wind up knapsacked for keeps
So he’d best be watched, even while he sleeps.

Ivory Bill, you definetly have a wonderful way with words. I know you must compose each kittens verse very quickly, yet you are always so “right on”.

Since I love kits and cats and such
Finding words doesn’t take so much
I thank you for noticing the speed
For when I re-read my stuff I see a need
To have had better syntax and all
But in hindsight its easy to make that call.
But your compliment is so sweet
I’ve bookmarked this page because its neat.
For the rest who have noted my rhymes
I thank you too, so many times.

Hi Ivory Bill,
Another good one! You have talent with words. Thanks for answering my question yesterday on JoJo’s site. I left a reply to your comment. Glad Josh is doing well and being spoiled with treats of chicken broth. I find cats like the extra attention. Mine go nuts everytime I go out to see them. It even picks up their appetite. They act like a bunch of kittens. It makes me feel so loved.

Athena, it is so nice that you take care of the poor wayward waifs. I’m so glad you are able to have them “fixed” too. I have the males fixed too, it stops the fighting when new boys show up.

It’s really amazing how so many find the safe places, they must have guardian angels showing them the way. I just wish we could save them all from the suffering and loneliness.

Comment by Athena
2007-03-04 18:18:26

I get “fixed” as many as I can but always try to get the females quickly before litters of kittens show up. and since it is getting to be that time of year that they would be coming in season. if it is a male i can go alittle slower and try to tame him a bit before taking him in. also there is a vet in lincoln that gives me a discount when i bring in feral cats to get fixed helps out alot.

Sounds like a very good plan. You are so right about kitten season nearly here. I hope that this year there won’t be any new kittens born in this area. I’ve had everybody fixed except one big male that refuses to go in the trap. I should be okay unless a new cat shows up or is dropped off in this area. Since I already have 16 here in the house I feel that I’m at my limit, but if any kittens do show up I have to take them in. Pray not or I will really be in deeper trouble financially.

When I was diagnosed with cancer several years ago (its cool- I’m in remission), I stayed in bed cause I was really weak…the cats and dogs stayed with me in bed almost 24/7. have a great week all of you in Tdk land..I’m heading for the couch. on another note My baby boy called from Basic Training..He sounds different already……………I am going to see him March 24th hurrah and get this everyone he has requested pictures of all the fuzzbutts ………LOL not brownies ………..pic of the cats and dogs (HURAH)..so I have this plan to take Elija blue down to ft benning with me, cause he is a favorite of the whole family………… :)

If your son is asking for fuzz-butt pictures that means you did a very good job in raising him to be loving. My son (my one and only) Brendan is a animal lover too. I think (know) he likes his cats more than he likes most humans. Thank goodness the girl he is going to marry this autumn is also a cat lover.

When is Basic Training over? If, as you said, he is more than likely heading out for Iraq, you must be more than a little concerned. I hope you enjoy your visit with him on the 24th. I know he will enjoy seeing you and Elija Blue.

We have had weird weather all day. One minute it is sunny, and the next it looks like a blizzard!!!
Oh, I forgot about the eclipse last night, but did enjoy the big, bright, FULL moon!!! It was just lovely!!
I worked for 5 hours and 45 minutes today for the first time in 4 weeks. It WAS a bit difficult, and by quitting time, my back hurt so much that it caused my tummy to feel sick. Now I am home relaxing. Ah……

Thanks Elene,
I do have off tomorrow, but work two days in a row twice during the week. I cannot complain as he did give me 26 hours, although I asked for only 20. That’s okay. I am thankful to get them. The fella that does the scheduling is very nice and will work with you on hours. We are blessed to have him. He has been on our side so understands how it is.
What kills my back is, the dog. When my daughter isn’t here, I have to take the beast out and he is so active and he pulls hard sometimes and wow, my achey back!! He almost pulled me down the hill yesterday! That’s ALL I need is to fall! It helps a lot having a long rope on him when I take him out.
Thanks for your concern! :)

Hey, Ivory Bill!!
Thanks for taking the time to answer my post. I enjoyed reading it. That is way cool about the wood ducks at the state park! Wow, that must have been a sight to see!!! Also, the migration path near you! It sounds like you live in a awesome place!!
That is so sweet of your Joshie loving you so much. Awwwww… Sweet of you to give him chicken broth and good quality catfood as well! I wonder how old he is?? My oldest is almost 11, my Perry.

One day I heard all this noise in the woods next to the house and went out to see what was causing it. Well, here it was a BIG pileated woodpecker pecking at the top of a tree and all this bark and such was dropping. Really neat!! Quite a few live here. I hadn’t seen any while living in NJ. We also have Hairy woodpeckers here and not in NJ where I lived anyway. I did see a yellow bellied sapsucker once!

I also enjoy you poems. You do have a special way with words. Was Literature your favorite subject or were you born with such talent??
Have a great day!
