I just read you comment from yesterday about MIME. The pop down message from Safari is: The page “Kittenzone.net” has content of MIME Type. You do not have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, so this content can not be displayed. No idea what it means. I did get to view a few photo’s and the film of funny kitties. :? Any ideas?

Try to install the flash player (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&P2_Platform=MacOSX).
It’s work with Safari on my MacBook, so I think it’s just a plugin problem.

Hey, Evangeline–did you notice the resemblence of Alfie to Bosley? Maybe they’re long-lost cousins or something! :)

Yes I did FondaHonda, In fact my Alfie gave your Bosley a heart.
Have you seen it? They do resemble each other Alfie has a smudge under his chin. I am looking for a total look alike but haven’t found him yet. Is yours a sweet kneady monster like mine?

When Bosley kneads, he picks up either my shirt or whatever is near (the sheet, my nightshirt, etc.) He then travels in a circle while moving laterally. Everything ends up wadded up. It’s pretty comical to watch–especially since he’s so big! :)

Oh well now I will have such a swelled head I won’t fit thru the door. I do have total strangers stop me wherever I go and comment about my canes. A friend explains it this way she said, I take a neccessity and turn into an accessory. I am desinging a new one to match my Easter outfit. I had my flower and bird house one today it matched my outfit and was a touch of Spring.

here’s another of my favorite examples (since I also am a begining bowyer) Is this art or craft?

http://www.bowstick.com/Lothlorien.html#

I could argue that it’s craft because a bow is useful and I could argue that it’s art because it has decorations :D

Art is what we decide it is (which ticks a lot of people off)
and that was proven by Marcel Duchamp and his urinal. It was litterally art because he said it was art.

Anyone who tries to say “this is art, that isn’t” is most likley ignorant or snobbish.

Yes, if it is stamped out by a machine and mass produced, then the QUALITY of the art is diminished, but that does not mean that a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 isn’t a work of art *drool*

I do have a problem with Jackson Pollack and others like that. I think it is a huge joke that he purpetrated on the public and got some idiots to pays millions of dollars for his works. At the Art Insitute of Chicago they have a wall size canvas with a red dot in the center what a hoot totaly blank except for a red dot. I was told by a snob that I just don’t get the message. Oh I got the message that some guy found a way to make mega bucks selling “art” to artsy fartsy snobs and he laughed all the way to the bank.

Comment by Instinct
2007-03-25 21:04:20

Oh, I agree with you on that. I am not of the Duchamp and Pollack school of “It’s art because I say it is”, but I understand what they were doing which was pushing back against those who said that art was only “this narrowly defined spectrum of sculpture and painting”.

What they did was a huge joke on the art world and I am sure that they knew it too. The red dots whole point was to irritate the art world - and it worked.

It’s just that since then there have been all of these self proclaimed art experts who have taken it all so seriously and try to find deep hidden meanings is was is essentially a painting of the Japanese flag.

I prpabaly get in trouble knocking Andy Warhol but what is with a guy painting a soup can? Buy a can of Cambell’s eat the soup and tape the lable on your wall a much better value. I think it helped that the ones going nuts over him hung out at Studio 54 and were wasted on drugs. I have never taken illeagal drugs maybe I would see the genius of it if I did.

It was the same thing really. His idea was to bring attention to the ordinary and it was also about marketing.

His idea was about how we are always bombarded with advertisment and being sold stuff. So he capitalized on it and made money off of it.

I’ve never done drugs either, but I don’t think even stoned I would be saying “Wow, man…. that is soooo awesome, dude!!!”

The bows that were on that web site do you do any like that?

Comment by Instinct
2007-03-26 03:02:57

Working towards it. I’m doing flatbows right now which is similar but - well - flat. :) here is a link that has a picture of a traditional flatbow

http://www.answers.com/topic/flatbow

Right now I am working on two bows. One for my wife and one for me; both are made of one solid piece of Hickory with a static recurve built onto them.

A static recurve is like on the Legolas bow from above, it is a curve at the end of the bow that doesn’t move when the bow is drawn. It allows you to have more power in the bow.

I decided on the ones I am doing to make the recurves out of a seperate piece of wood and made them out of cocobolo wood to add some contrast in the color.

I’ve got to get a new rasp file to finish them up and I should have them done in about a month (i’m not in a real hurry) and once I’ve done that I am going to look at doing a traditional longbow style.

Course, I also am going to make the arrows as well :D

I love doing art

Happy Greek Independence Day!! What inocent eyes you have litle balck kitty. I friend of mine just gave me a helpful hit. My daughters cat Evan loves to play with doors….. yea I know he is a bit strange, but he will shut my bedroom door then in the middle of the night pester me until I get up and open it again. I have tried door stops but he just moves them out of the way. My friends cat has a habit of shutting herself in places too, so she went to walmart and got pretty little hand towels the match what every holiday or season and hangs them over the tops of the doors. I did this too Evan can still play with the doors but they can’t go shut tight and no more getting up in the middle of the night to open the door.

I love your nephew! There used to be a resturant in chicago back in the 60’s that had a room in the basement and for a dollar you could go down there and break dishes. I don’t think it was Greek just a way to make money and get rid of their broken or chipped dishes.
Athena what is the meaning behind breaking dishes?
