Pootie

Location: Waldwick, New Jersey, USA

PootieThis is my baby Pootie. My husband found her wandering around a Petco parking lot. She was only about two weeks old at the time and she had scabs and dirt all over her. He gave her to me and I cried. Now she spends her days in the sun sleeping away on any random thing she can find, even me!

what responsible pet owner would let a 3 wk. old kitten get outside,,,at that age they are still suckling, never to venture far from mommy. hence, i doubt there was an owner. and if there had been one they have no business having pets.

**”Runningman” makes it into record books at last**

More than three years after he finished an epic journey across six continents, Briton Robert Garside has been officially recognised as the first person to run around the world.

Garside, 40, who during his quest called himself the Runningman, on Monday received the approval of Guinness World Records for a 30,000-mile (48,000-km) six-year trek.

“It feels very, very good indeed,” Garside told Reuters shortly after hearing the news.

“I’m really happy about this, this run cost me everything,” said the former London policeman who was jailed in China, shot at in Russia and chased by armed men in Mexico and Panama during the mega jog which ended in New Delhi in 2003.

The Guinness verdict was a major vindication for Garside, who has been dogged by accusations of cheating by endurance runners sceptical about a man who claimed to have run through jungles and across deserts with no support team.

Others accused him of embellishing his exploits and of skipping whole sections of the run, something Garside denies.

Garside, who is planning a book and a film of his exploits, kept meticulous records, including eyewitness statements and more than 300 hours of video footage which Guinness used to authenticate the run.

“It’s been a long process, but it was very well documented and it has now been recognised officially as the first fully authenticated run around the world,” said a spokeswoman for Guinness World Records.

Garside, who described the run as “just like going for a jog every day and not going back home” said it took him two years to recover physically and mentally from his exertions.

Garside, who met his future wife while running through Venezuela in 2000, said one of the hardest moments came in the Himalayas. “It was very cold and I was lonely and it’s difficult to find motivation at times like that.”

“But it all finally paid off and I’ll be running over to Guinness tomorrow to collect my certificate,” he said.

**Pet Food Recall Update**

I just received this email from another cat site…
——————————————————————————-
I wanted to give you another update about the recent pet food
recall. As you know, last week there was a dog and cat food recall
of 60 million containers packaged under 95 brands of food. The
preliminary reports indicated that the affected foods caused over
16 deaths and may have caused illness in hundreds of others.
Reports are continuously being updated and there is still a lot
that we don’t know.

What we do know is that the Agriculture Commissioner of New York
State Patrick Hooker released information that Aminopterin has been
found in some of the tested cat foods. Aminopterin is a form of
rat poison. It is not approved for use in the U.S. It is not
possible to test pets for this chemical at this time. No one seems
to know as to how much or if any other compounds were found. There
are many unanswered questions.

They do know that the compound involved is causing kidney failure.
The most common signs of kidney failure are: vomiting, not eating,
drinking more, urinating more and/or lethargy. If your pet is
eating or was eating one of the recalled foods and is experiencing
any symptoms, please call your veterinarian immediately. We
recommend testing and treating all affected pets! If caught early,
kidney failure can be treated successfully in some pets.

For more information read about “Renal Failure in Dogs” and “Renal
Failure in Cats”:

http://clicks.aweber.com/z/ct/?oLKg3mSNFsISV1s_wLlKqQ

The food recall covers several different foods - primarily those
with gravy components - with the dates of December 3rd - March 6th.
The recall does not affect all varieties of the different food.

For information or an updated list, call 1-866-895-2708 or go to:

If you suspect your pet has been affected by the food - please read

Meet the Turkish Angora
March 27, 2007

Think Beethoven was the original European longhair? Think again. Cats from Ankara (formerly Angora), in Turkey, were brought to Europe by the Vikings as early as the 10th century.

This angora’s lush, silky coat; lively intelligence; and gracefulness continue to make the cat popular today. But don’t confuse them with their Persian cousins, whose faces are more pushed in and whose fur becomes matted more easily. The breed comes in many colors, but the most common is white. Almond-shaped eyes can be blue, green, green-gold, or amber. Or the cat may have one blue eye and one of a different hue.

There is a rather large controvercy as to whether Shakespeare ever actually existed at all. That the works attributed to him were collaborations and the pen name Shakespeare was used. I however refuse to believe this, because I don’t want to!

2007-03-27 18:52:44

I’m with you, Rosie. I’ve studied literature for a long time and I’ve heard very few good theories for this. Most people recognize that is was, in fact, Shakespeare who wrote his own works.

Cole Porter said it best:

“The girls today in society
Go for classical poetry,
So to win their hearts one must quote with ease
Aeschylus and Euripides.
But the poet of them all
Who will start ‘em simply ravin’
Is the poet people call
The bard of Stratford-on-Avon.

“Brush up your Shakespeare,
Start quoting him now.
Brush up your Shakespeare
And the women you will wow.
Just declaim a few lines from “Othella”
And they think you’re a helluva fella.
If your blonde won’t respond when you flatter ‘er
Tell her what Tony told Cleopaterer ,
If she fights when her clothes you are mussing,
What are clothes? “Much Ado About Nussing.”
Brush up your Shakespeare
And they’ll all kowtow.

“With the wife of the British ambessida
Try a crack out of “Troilus and Cressida,”
If she says she won’t buy it or tike it
Make her tike it, what’s more, “As You Like It.”
If she says your behavior is heinous
Kick her right in the “Coriolanus.”
Brush up your Shakespeare
And they’ll all kowtow,
And they’ll all kowtow,
And they’ll all kowtow.

I can still see Howard Keel laughing as Keenan Wynn and James Whitmore dance off the screen.

“I wasn’t tre’tnin’ wit a gun. I was merely shiftin’ the weight from dat side to dis side.”

They don’t make ‘em like they used to. *sigh*
