Silvio & SalvatoreMy daughter brought these kittens home and hid them in her bedroom for about a month. Now they’re a regular part of our family and enjoy living with Franklin the Asian box turtle (sometimes they climb into his aquarium to check him out,) Twinkie our resident Cat King, Chico the chihuahua and Precious the poodle. what a pair of cuties! Man, I’d have done exactly the same thing at that age, but I don’t think I’d have stopped at just two. Funny how they say tht if you own cats as a kid and then don’t have any for a while, allergies to them can develop. If I had known that I’d have made sure my home was allways well Fe-Lined in addition to being well Box-Turtled. Gorgeous little kitties, thanks for sharing

Maybe they slept a lot of the time. My cats sure do that; there are times when I get worried that they slipped out, but they turn up sleeping somewhere that I couldn’t see them.
Definite cuties.

Did anyone see the news item on the TV about the geneticly designed hypoalergenic kitties? They have bred them there is about a 12 month wait list. They didn’t give the cost of the kittens. The one on the news was an “orangie”

Comment by Tessa, NYC
2007-04-07 17:43:57

I think I had read they cost upwards of $4,000. These designer pets never come cheap. But I understand that Siberian cats are also non-allergenic and they’re long-haired and fabulous. And while they’re also a bit pricey, they don’t cost nearly as much as the genetically engineered kitties.

These peachy babies are just too adorable and congratulations to the daughter who was able to stash them in her bedroom for all that time without getting caught.

I dream about that coming true one day, but the company and the man behind it raise every suspicious hackle in my body. The cats also cost $4,000 or so each, plus a lot of onerous restrictions and extras. The owner of the company, Simon Brodie, has a questionable history, to say the least.

twins fuzz. update on the injured cat I took in last weekend. the injury to his eye has made remarkable recovery. the abcess was on the underside on his eye lid and the inner eye lid was protecting his eye. after a week on the antibiotics he has recovered almost 100% all the swelling is gone the eye looks normal. he really must be feeling better he has started crying at night he wants back outside I have him where he can see out the window. vet wants him on the antibiotics for full 10 day so he has a few more days. think then I will let him back outside he has tamed a bit I can touch him but he isnt happy in the house, but I do think he trusts me now and will stick around, he knows he will always have food here and a warm place to sleep

Wonderful kittens. They look like twins.

Yesterday I spent all day trying to trap a new “orangie” cat that started coming to eat on my patio. Finally got him (hope it’s a him). Poor thing is so scared. I now have 17 in the house.

I had a terrible thought this morning. What if he is a she. What if she has a litter of kittens somewhere. Can’t tell because I can’t see the belly area. My only consolation is that the majority of “orangies” are male, and I hope that is the case here. I won’t know until I get it to the vet next week and will be worried until then.

YES!!! My oldest, and the only one not rescued, is 18 years old. The remaining 16 are rescues from a feral colony. In a 2 year time frame I have rescued and spay/neutered 30+ cats. The majority of those indoors were wee babes when I got them. Could not find them homes so they live with me.

Didn’t ask for this to happen in my life, but when confronted with the suffering I was seeing out there I had no choice.

Instinct you need to have a wife who is larger than you so she cannot borrow your shirts. Since I am “plus size”, I cannot fit into my husband shirts and he loves that. Besides my hubby is such a “dandy” that I would be afraid to borrow anything of his.

Awww what cute pair of kitties!

It’s sooo much fun having two kittens together. 12 years ago we had our first set, sisters Sunny & Tigger. We brought them home from church Mother’s Day Sunday. A box of baby kittens had been left by the church nursery and having 2 daughters we had to take 2 kittens. My hubby was out of town, that what he gets for not being home!

We got our 2nd set of sisters last summer, Coconut & Salt. They are part siamese and double trouble just like the song!

These stinkers couldn’t be cuter!
I pulled the same thing when I was a kid…smuggling a cat into the house. I only managed to keep her a secret for a week. When my mom discovered her, she said I had 3 days to get rid of her. 20 years later, she passed away peacefully in her sleep….on my mom’s bed where she had stayed after I left home because “you just can’t uproot her, Renee….she’s happy here.” May you folks have 20 years or more with these cuties!

So, I think my new Bobbie Boo had a ragdoll parent! She will not use her claws (she does have some now) and she will not bite no matter how riled up I try to get her. She is so very gentle, with the sweetest Mew I have ever heard. My older cat Duchess chases/attacks her and she will NOT fight back. She does not have the coloring or the blue eyes (except for perhaps the shape), And the tail!?! so she cannot be a pure bred. SHe has the strangest coat - it is medium in length, but has these hairs that come out about 3 inches from her body. This morning cinched it, she went completely limp in my lap (she is learning to be more trusting).

Isn’t is awesome when a new cat chooses to relax with us. It’s like we’ve been judged and found ‘good’. My husband rescued an injured, starving feral cat in rural Tennessee, took her to a vet for treatment of her injuries and to be spayed, and kept her in his motel room (he was there on extended business). I drove down, and spent a week training her to tolerate a harness and leash so we could drive her back to New Jersey. I swear she understood what was happening, and decided to cooperate. The trip took three days, moteled at night, and she sat on Walt’s lap the whole time we were in the car. She’s been here over a year, and she is so sweet. She doesn’t approve of our 85 lb dog, and one of our cats, but Midnight the rescued feral is a wonderful addition to the family.

Morning TDKS! Posted this very late last night, but wanted to make sure it was seen, so am re-posting.( Hubby works night shift, so it is 11 am here and we are just getting to bed! Night all-have a great day!)

This from the Itchmo site:

on April 28, there will be a nationwide march as a result of the pet food recalls. The organization is just starting this, and information is split between two sites right now (they’re moving). Check these out:
http://keepourpetssafe.bravehost.com/new_events.html
http://pnv2.com/index.html

Let’s make this huge! All pet owners who have lost a loved one, dealt with sickness from this, or are just plain fed up with what’s been going on, the response, and worrying every time you open a new can, please, consider participating. This is what they say about the march:
Why we march…
We are marching in memory of our pets that have lost their lives, we are marching in memory of those pets that are fighting for their lives, we march as pet owners, dog lovers, cat lovers and average citizens that are tired of the lowered safety standards for goods coming in to this country.

2007-04-08 03:44:42

While I appreciate the sentiment involved in the march, I don’t think the message is clear enough or focused enough to have a real impact. “We love our pets and we’re upset” is nice, but it won’t get anyone’s attention.

We seem to have two problems here — one, the lax quality of trade goods from China, and two, there are some rumors floating around that the pet food companies might have known about it and decided it was too costly to replace it with safe stuff. (A foolish, arrogant, and costly mistake.) It migght be better to target both at once. I am not as a rule in favor of government legislation to solve all our problems, but it is the Constitutionally defined role of the federal government to mediate interstate commerce and govern trade and alliances with other nations, so I think seeking the Fed’s involvement is both appropriate and necessary in this case.

So, lax trade laws that endanger our pets and possibly ourselves and our children to the benefit of the business lobby should not be a codicil to the march’s message. It should be the crux of it.
