Dou Dou is a very cute girl. She’s a little bit shy of everything, but she likes to “miaow” us every morning - it’s like a clock to wake us up.

Jennifer, I love your cat’s wonderful face and story. Who ever heard of not liking cats that throw up? I never heard of a cat that didn’t throw up. Amazingly I now have one that is 8 months old, and I have had her about 6 months. As far as I can tell she has never once thrown up. First cat I ever heard of like that. I am sure this is still the honeymoon. Anyway, it’s great that Tiger is with you now.
Beautiful kitty! Oh the cute look on her face! Know what you mean about the alarm clock. If one of my kids is asleep on the couch, our cat will jump up and meow at them until they wake up! She just can’t stand for anyone to sleep on that couch!
My Snow wakes me every morning after he hears the alarm by licking my face (at least he waits for the alarm)! At least he gave my toes a break as that used to be his favorite way of getting me out of bed. LOL
Ah yes…. the exfoliating process. I get that most mornings as well. Sometimes as early at 3 a.m. !

I always get the exfoliating process at night, as a nighty-night ritual. Every night, my Desdemona gets on the pillow (head-butting and patting me with her paw until I am in the right position), and proceeds to wash her mommy’s face and throat and neckline, a process I usually describe in the vulgar way as getting licked from from hairline to nipples. I thought I might exercise some restraint for the more delicate sensibilities here at TDK.
Anyway, my alarm clocks function very efficiently; Leopold begins the destruction of property if I don’t respond immediately to his summons. I have made a deal with him, though. I will get up at his summons during the week, and he lets me sleep in on the weekends–good deal.

I’m so glad its just not me. My tux Munchie plays with my lamp, pulls up the window shade next to my bed, knocks things over or pushes them to the floor and stares at me while doing it. My Pip attacks my feet (have to have claw proof throw over bottom half of bed) and he chirps at me. Zasha mean while is patting my cheeks and staring hard very close to my face while Max sits and cries in a most pathetic uncatlike voice . Pixie lays next to me and purrs in my ear and licks me. This is called team effort and they are always certain of the outcome.
I would love to have a video of them in the morning. I have no idea how long it takes them to get me awake, but I’ll bet it would make a funny funny film. Thank goodness 8 or 9 of my babes sleep in their bedroom behind a closed door. Can’t even imagine mornings with 17 cats working on the wake-up-mom project.

OMG, that is hilarious! And I thought I had it bad, but nothing compared to that. No, my group has designated one, that would be Leopold, to act as the agent of wakefulness. Leopold gives me a couples of chances, with two or three escalating meows. If I continue to ignore him, he just leaps on to my dresser and starts batting the various bottles of perfume, deodorant, lotions, whatever, off and listening to them crash to the floor. THAT gets me up, and he just stares at me with the sweetest face imaginable!! How does he do that?
He is smart as a whip, though, and I swear he understands me when I whine “not yet, just a couple of minutes more”! Most of the time he will let me sleep a couple of more minutes, but that is it. We have an understanding, Leopold and I.
My baby, Coconut goes for the toes. Last few nights she has bit my toes during the night not waiting till morning. When I first wake up sometimes she will lean down to sniff at my eyelids, then paw at them after she sees me open and close them again.
My hubby even learned to accept the cleaning of his mustache by our first kitty years ago.
Tiger either sits on my pillow and purrs at me until i wake up or he stands on his hind legs next to my bed and pokes me. Scratch will sit in front of her food dish and meow.
Peek-a-boo Kitty! I love your big ears with the tufts! I love your big feet! And I love seeing such a sweet face on the Monday after a long weekend! Kiss her nose!
I love the expression on her sweet face. Petey has white front paws but otherwise they look alike.
When I came home from the family gathering yesterday 5 kids and 15 adults the peace and quiet plus Petey was just what I needed. I swear it would be quieter attending a rock concert in a phone booth than being with my family in a 10 room house.
What a beautiful little girl!!! She looks sweet as anything! Damn slam! I wish my lanlord would let me have a kitty sniffle, sniffle. I mean my neighbors have a freaking dog and another DOES have a cat TuTone! Arrrrgh!! Well injoy her and give some kitty lovin from me here in the U.S. ;0)
For those that would like a pet and are willing to put in some extra work to own one, may want to consider training a cat to be a therapy animal. My sister, who lived in Indy at the time, got around her apartment’s no pet rule by training her dog to be a “therapy” dog. The dog took obedience classes and was certified. The dog went to nursing homes, the children’s hospital, or some other facility once a month where she brought much needed joy. And based on the apartment’s liberal wording of service animal, my sister’s dog qualified as a service animal and could stay.
But be sure to check your local laws and apartment rules for definition of service animal before you try this. In some areas therapy pets are not considered a service animal. Also some areas will not give your a cat certification in writting. Without a certificate the apartment can claim it is just a pet. You will also need to select a pet with this goal in mind when looking at temperment, age, etc. It can be difficult to certify a cat. My cats didn’t even make it through the pre-screen qualifications.
It is a really worthwhile program to be involved in. You can bring an emotional lift to someone’s day. In addition for someone that has a problem such as a stroke, petting an animal can be a way to get them to use the affected arm providing them with physical therapy. So it is something to consider.
Therapy CAT?? Trained??? Works a lot better with dogs…

Actually the cat training sessions I’ve looked at are less involved than the dog sessions. A site for those that have never heard of therapy cats is http://www.petsandpeople.org/cat-ther.htm.
What a lovely girl - how lucky you are to have her. Also what wonderful ear tufts - love that !!! My Turkish Van has them but not as long. OBTW what does Dou Dou mean ?
Pretty cat. She looks like she has some Maine Coon and is going to be quite big. Love the tufty ears, my elderly half-Abbyssian has tufty ears, but they seem to have been bred out of Abbys of late.
Cat Prayer
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice.
I pray for gourmet kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For windowsills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I’ll always stay real cool
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!
That was an interesting article about the purr. I knew cats didn’t just purr because of contentment, I saw too many come in after being hit and they would purr when the doctor was examining them. Surely that is not contentment-broken bones and internal injuries. The healing thing make cense though. I thought it might be a submissive sort of thing, but I should know better than that!

I had heard this from a friend…. very interesting indeed !
Hello my TDK friends!!! Happy Monday!
The vet just called about my poor Perry. He couldn’t pee so she was desperatly trying to call me to ask if she could put him under to clear the obstruction. My poor baby going through all this…. He must be so scared! I am off today, but had to go in for an hour for a cashiers meeting.
For those of you who didn’t know, my 1/2 Siamese, Perry went to the vet yesterday in the wee hours of the morning cause he was growling and hissing and licking his tummy like crazy. I am thankful my vet is open all the time day and night. It is usually odd hours and days he gets sick. I am so upset that I am shaking again…..
The vet said the bill would be higher than the estimate now and needed my permission before going ahead.
Please keep saying prayers for my darling baby……
Bumblebee, oh no. You and Perry have my prayers too. Sometimes the catheter clears the obstruction itself. You just can’t catheterize a concious(sp) cat.
Oh, you can, and I have the scars to prove it! We had a geriatric cat that the owner didn’t feed properly (tuna and chocolate Ensure-eek) and we had to catheter him with out the help of sedation because of his age-My first Vet Tech scar came from that experience.
Bumblebee,
Sorry to hear Perry is so sick. Bless his heart, I hope he gets to feeling better, soon. Lots of positive thoughts are being sent your way and a hug for the both of you.
Healing blue light all around Perry, hon. One of my oranges was blocked like that. the vet gave him an injection that made him wet red urine for days. Usually at inopportune times. Keep us posted, okay?
Bumblebee, I will add my prayers to the stream of them winging their way through the universe. I’m really sorry your baby is feeling so scared and ill. My thought are with you.
How lucky to find a vet that you could call early on a Sunday. I like my vets, but if it is a weekend or late night I have to travel quite far to an emergency clinic.
Be glad that you have a vet that could see Perry in time. I would have a 50 mile drive to the nearest vet after regular office hours. I can’t imagine driving that far in a panic with a sick animal, and I WOULD be in a panic!
Hello my TDK friends. I have been MIA since Thursday due the very unexpected loss of my husband’s brother. He was only 39 and left two kids behind. He was having a routine medical procedure, at home with a visiting nurse, that caused a blood clot to break loose and it went to his lungs. By the time they got him to ER he was oxygen starved for too long. Please everyone send some prayers in the direction of our family, particularly for his wife and children. I’ll be back and posting at the end of the week.
I am so sorry for your families’ loss. It’s always difficult to lose a loved one, but it is so much harder when the loved one is called before his time. Joshie and I send good thoughts and kind feelings.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I hope that peace surrounds you and helps you and all your family recover from this loss. My prayers are with you and all your family.
Sox’s mom - let me know if you got your cookbook today, I sent it to both your Email addresses and one bounced back.
PPearson, sorry for the rough holiday weekend!
That is tragic what happened to your brother in law. I hope that all loved ones are able smile in his memory among the sadness. Hard to do I know as I lost my mom to cancer. Remembering good times help the hurt if only for a moment.
Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your brother-in-law. It is tragic to lose someone that young and with a family. I will keep all of you in my prayers.
ha ha look at her peeking! just like my old kitty cat when I was little.
cute!!!
What a sweet little girl!

Aww…. thanks. He’s a good boy. Cats are like children, you love them no matter what they do.
Those silly little tufts on the very tips of her ears and those big serious eyes! Awwwwwwwwwwwww…
I agree. The tufts are the cutest.
Dou Dou, peek-a-boo!
doo, doo, doo, doo or is that doub, doub, doub, doub or doobie doo, doobie doo, doobie, doo…(i’m being really silly today)
“To Be is to Do” — Sartre
“To Do is to Be” — Descartes
“Do Be Do Be Doo” — Sinatra
What a sweet little lady.
Absolutely adorable peek-a-boo baby. So much like my Cuddles and Bob. Dou Dou is heart melting, and definitely an ooooh and aaahh baby.
Beautiful kitty! Oh the cute look on her face! Know what you mean about the alarm clock. If one of my kids is asleep on the couch, our cat will jump up and meow at them until they wake up! She just can’t stand for anyone to sleep on that couch!
Ha Ha
Mine are just the opposite. Emerson will come from anywhere else in the house in order to aid the couch napping experience.

Jiggs wakes me every morning just before the alarm. He’s not the kissy type; he stands on me and meows in my face. His breath is enough to wake me!
You’ve heard of Strawberry Alarm Clock - Jiggs is my furry alarm clock!
There is no snooze button on a cat that wants breakfast!!!
Tiger either sits on my pillow and purrs at me until i wake up or he stands on his hind legs next to my bed and pokes me. Scratch will sit in front of her food dish and meow.
Awwwww, what a beautiful stripey girl. Look at that “M”.
*Drops Dou Dou in the backpack*
Hope everybody had a happy Easter.
Hope you did too, HM. Hows stuff going? You think we’re being set up by this cat’s name? The six year old in me wants to know.
You’re not alone. I couldn’t help but snicker when I thought about HM dropping dodo in her backpack. You might have to get it cleaned after that.
Not THAT kinda doo doo you guys! lol Dou Dou Kitty!
Peek-a-boo Kitty! I love your big ears with the tufts! I love your big feet! And I love seeing such a sweet face on the Monday after a long weekend! Kiss her nose!
I love the expression on her sweet face. Petey has white front paws but otherwise they look alike.

Is she part lynx? (seriously, know that is impossible - lynx are rather distant cat relatives). Love the tufted ears and snowshoe feet.

Do you all live in an apartment complex? If so ask the landlord why there is one rule for you and another for the others.
For those that would like a pet and are willing to put in some extra work to own one, may want to consider training a cat to be a therapy animal. What a lovely girl - how lucky you are to have her. Also what wonderful ear tufts - love that !!! My Turkish Van has them but not as long. OBTW what does Dou Dou mean ?
Great looking kitty , But I was also Thinking about her name ???
I googled Dou Dou. It is French slang for a baby’s beloved toy/item. Sweet name for a sweet kitten!
Thanks kitten whisperer, it’s good to know. *inner 6 year old crumples to the floor in disapointment*
Pretty cat. She looks like she has some Maine Coon and is going to be quite big. Love the tufty ears, my elderly half-Abbyssian has tufty ears, but they seem to have been bred out of Abbys of late.
doesn’t matter if its going to be big, if its cute, nice, biteless and scratchless, its a purrrrrfect cat to have!
I have a question. A while back, somebody sent me a site where these cats were wearing business suits and talking about taking over the world.
I swear, it’s not the pain pills or the human ‘nip’ this actually happened.
Does anybody know what site I’m talking about?
You sure you aren’t thinking of those little mice critters. Pinky and the Brain?
No, MeezerMama got it right.
I know it’s not the pills, I’ve seen it too. Can’t remember what it is though
No, it’s cats in these pin-striped suits. It’s a riot. I wish I could remember where I saw it. I’d share with you guys.
Cartoons, or doctored photos?
It’s doctored photos.
There’s ‘Cat Head Theatre’ on youtube. Also, check this one out… (from youtube) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5Ilq3kFxek
buwahahahahahahah!! Dang that’s a hoot! It was sort of like that, but the cats had on business suits.
*goes back to watch and laugh some more*
Thanks, Tiger.
