Yes, those sweet flattened ears say it all - personally, I like to use a flea comb. You make a small dish of water and dish soap, then you flea comb and dip the comb in the water - the fleas can’t swim to the side and jump out, they drown. You do end up with a pretty wet kitten - but it is less traumatic than a bath or fleas swarming to the top of the head. Whatever, I am glad you have the little dear and he is free of fleas. Bless those who adopt !!

2007-04-13 18:58:48

I would always start a flea bath by pouring water right at their neck before putting them it. As long as the collar area is wet, the fleas can’t retreat.

Then, once you have the enemy outflanked you attack with all your forces and CRUSH THEM UNDER YOUR FEET!!!

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!

I am not doing bad, hon. It’s gotta be the super duper pain pills I’m on. They don’t make you drowsy, they just make the pain go away. Usually I try not to do too much (like yesterday when I totally overdid) and I’m ok.

I am glad that Perry seems to be doing beter. Give that baby extra hugs for me.

Your vet might need to prescribe him an appetite stimulant to get him back on an even keel. If you decide to try him on baby food in the short term, check the label to make sure it doesn’t contain onion or garlic powder. Of the Urinary Tract formula dry foods out there, my kits like Royal Canin and Purina One the best.

2007-04-13 15:58:16

Hello ppearson!
I called the vet last night and told them about Perry not eating much. They said to wait until today to see what he does. She also suggested about the appetite stimulant. Poor Perry. He is acting a bit more like his old self. He was “digging” the back of my legs before laying down there last night. Awwww… He walks around and meows a lot though. My daughter said the other night after I brought him home and had to go out, he was meowing for awhile. That makes me feel so sad as I don’t know what he wants or is thinking about. He did that a lot when I gave her sister away many years back.

Comment by CatRancher from Iowa
2007-04-13 17:57:05

The appetite stimulant is really just an antihistamine, but it works great. You might also try to pet Perry while he’s eating (away from any other people/animals). He may eat more if you are there and petting him. I wouldn’t recommend the marijuana leaves (!) suggested by another poster…you might have a hard time “finding it fresh” and an even harder time trying to explain to the officer that … “it’s for my cat…REALLY…to stimulate his appetite…do you have any donuts in there…” *giggle-giggle*

2007-04-13 18:18:29

Want me to ask my 8th graders where to get the ‘fresh stuff’? They were shocked when I mentioned to them that I PAID for the music I downloaded to my MP3 player. . . . :)

Try giving him some fresh grown marijuna leaves if you can get some or get some that is smoke and grind it up to like a powder and put it in his food. It worked for mine and it beats the typical catnip which really does nothing for the kitty. I actually had a vet agree with me on this. It won’t make kitty sick but MUNCHIES it will have. try it you’ll see…………….

Hello Elene.
Yes, I am off today. Had to call and pay some bills this am and call the bank for my savings account interest for my taxes. It was 76 cents!! Ha ha…. That doesn’t change anything. Have to go back to my friend’s house later and finish my taxes.
Perry is on my lap now and giving me rabbit kicks and biting me. Awwww… I guess he is really feeling better! I was so worried. He looked so bad yesterday I was afraid he was gonna die. :( At least I am home with him today and tomorrow.
I just heard about the snow from a customer at work and they said Monday. Maybe it is moving up sooner. I hope not cause I don’t want to miss another day of work.

I had a black cat named Ophelia, she got pregnant from the black cat next door, Merlin. She had three black babies, Othello, Hamlet and Daphnie. Daphnie was friendly to a fault and had the longest tail. She could jump straight up from the floor 9 feet. How do I know? My boyfriends insane sister brought her bird over on the way from the vet. I was so worried that I moved all the furniture away from the center of the room and climbed a ladder to hang the cage from my 10 foot cathedral ceiling. We heard this horrible noise while I was making tea and when we got to the room Daphnie was clinging to the cage trying to get the bird! Serves her right the crazy b*&ch!

Please don’t drop off stray cats there, though, as it is a stable colony that does not welcome newcomers.

This sounds familiar. When we brought our 2 babies home we hadn’t expected to have 2. The kitten, Teddy, was in the cat carrier that we’d brought with us (sleeping like an angel). Sammy (2 yrs old) was in a cardboard carrier we’d gotten from the shelter. And he was mad. Halfway through the trip home he busted through the carrier (literally…. *BOOM* and he birthed himself through the wall) and then he pooped and puked (AT THE SAME TIME!) in the floor of the car. Oh, I’ve never smelled such a thing in my life! Poor guy (or POOR ME!)

Sebastian can look quite disdainful, himself. Usually when Maverick and Hudson are playing together.

Last night, Hudson and Maverick were running around (they always tell me when the weather is about the change) and they ran AT each other and I guess they both intended to jump over the other’s back. Well they both leapt at the same time - and did the Milli Vanilli / Flea & Anthony Kiedis chest bump. I laughed like a crazy woman for the rest of the night.

Poor kitty! I’m going to have to give Bob a bath when I get home from work (as if his week hasn’t been bad enough!). We got this awful kitty litter that doesn’tseem to klump - or maybe it’s because the poor fellow just keeps peeing and peeing because of his kidney problem - the litterbox can’t keep up, eventhough I change the whole thing every day! Anyway this stupid kitty litter (expensive stuff, too) doesn;t dry in the litterbox, but on poor Bobsky’s paws where it gets stuck! and then dragged all over the place! Is anyone coming to South Florida with a broom? We could sure use one!
