You're most welcome! Ruggles, aside from being large and rather dumb, is a long-haired Manx, and although he is affectionate is not really a lap cat. However, this morning I woke up with Ruggles snuggled tightly to me on my left side, my arm draped around him and his head on my shoulder. Sweet baby! And Rotley was curled up on my other side, sound asleep.

This will happen soon with your two babies -- just hang in there!

Thank you for answering!

It looks like I've been way too impatient. Six months... Huh! That's a long time. But if the outcome is as great as in your family, I am more than willing to wait that time.

I'd REALLY love to see them snuggle each other.

So nice of you to give me hope and extra thanks for funny and cute visuals!

I have two males, about five months apart, and both from shelters. The smaller one, Rotley, is wary and clever, and Ruggles (God love him!) is a big, sweet oaf and younger than Rotley. When I first introduced them, Ruggles wanted to be friends and play, and Rotly simply wanted to murder poor Ruggles. It's been two years, and each evening they run through the house like a thundering furry herd. And each night, they curl up with me in bed snuggling each other, and sleep through the night.

Things just work out. The first six months were really rough, but I separated them occasionally using the Mommy voice, and they worked it out.

Hang in there! Teach the little girl to play, teach your big cat to play more gently, and love them both. It will be fine.

You know they are always contented when planning pranks - what a beautiful pair - I envy someone - my old tuxedo would be jealous.

I've clipped my kitties' claws from the get-go. I used to use a toenail clipper, but I've now got the ones made for cats. I like that much better, and so do the cats. Sometimes if I catch Tansey in the right mood, she will keep purring through the entire 'caticure'. I tell her how lucky she is to be going to the kitty beauty salon (lol) and she -always- gets a little treat when we're finished. That treat/reinforcement at the end makes a big difference, and even though both cats will fuss at me sometimes, they let me do the job, they get their treats, they act standoffish for a little while, but they're each back within ten minutes asking for love, petting, or play. Start when they're young, that's the easiest, and make it a game. Touch your kitties' paws a lot, hold them and get the kitty accustomed to having you mess with her feet, and you can make it a less traumatic experience. Also, if you're working with an older kitty, try this when they're very sleepy or very happy, so they associate it with pleasant memories.
