Snuggle Bear, his litter mates and his mother were brought into a foster home where they were welcomed with love. They are now almost a year old and the foster mom has now become “Mom”.

Yes! I made the Port wine jello and brought it to my daughter’s. My 3 young grandsons got silly and my daughter exclaimed, “Leave it to Gramma to bring the jello shots!” Really, it was very good, but for adults only, I guess.

Back in the late 1920’s, when my uncle was a little boy, the story is that a passer-by on the street asked him where he had gotten his beautiful blue eyes. Without missing a beat, my uncle responded “My mama got ‘em on sale at Sissy Roebuck’s.” He figured since his mom got everything else on sale at Sears and Roebuck (what Sears was called in “the good old days”), that’s where his eyes came from, too!

How sweet a wonderful memory of your uncle. Back when I was a kid the catalog was called the Wish Book. I would lie on the floor and look and at all the wonderful things in the book anf of course wish.

When I was little it was one of my favorite things to play with. Not only did I search the pages for the perfect furiture and fixtures for my doll/play house, but it was also Barbie’s closet. Once I went through the whole book and added up everything I would like to buy just to see how much I would spend. You find things to do when you’re snowed in with your grandmother.

When my cousin and I were kids back in the 50’s we would go thru old catalogs and cut out furniture, people and drapes and back them on the heavy paper that came in the boxes of nylons (pre panty hose) using Elmer’s glue. My uncle would bring us home a big cardboard box and he would cut pieces from another box to make walls and floors for our rooms in the do-it-yourself doll house. We would arrange the furniture and people in the rooms along with material that we used for wall paper and cut for rugs. It was great for making a rainy summer day fun. The only thing that had to be bought was the glue everything else was scraps or found items.

I remember the Sears and Wards Christmas wish books as a kid in the country. My 3 brothers and I would make are Christmas list from them. Didn’t get much from the list but it was fun dreaming.

During the long summer days, every once in awhile my brothers would decide that I was a girl and not let me play their games. Then my mother would pull out a new paper doll set for me. Sure enough before long my brothers would be at the table with me cutting out too.

Yup, we used our imaginations and not a computer chip in sight. Same cousin I mentioned before and I would take our dolls out in the buggies and we went house to house asking for old clothes (women’s) so we had “new” stuff to play dress-up with. Oh my, what a haul we made we were given some evening gowns and even a fur stole and lots and lots of jewelry. Wow, we strutted up and down her street dressed fit to kill.

    Hey Evangeline,
Perry seems good. He wants to eat, but I am afraid to give him the hills c/d. I was up most of the night reading Itchmo.com and other stories. The dry Iams and Hill’s c/d has been killing pets, or making them really sick, etc. I am going to return it tomorrow when I take Perry back for a check up. They say they have a money back guarantee. I hope so cause I spent over $16 on the dry and 2 cans. I have been hand feeding him the Newmans Own organic dry I have. I cooked ground chicken today and he only ate a tiny piece. He is meowing a lot again. He’ll be asleep and meow and get up and go somewhere. I don’t know if he’s in pain, or just hungry or what? It just breaks my heart……

Poor baby! I know how you feel. When my Phoebe’s kidneys were failing, the vet told me to cook chicken liver in the microwave and mix it about half and half with very soft cooked rice and a little chicken broth. The rice gives bulk without protein, which is what stresses their kidneys, and the chicken liver is nutrient dense. Phoebe loved hers. We called it her “yum.” She had fe-leuk and passed away when she was only four, but we loved her while we had her. Maybe your Perry will like Phoebe’s yum, too. Check with your vet.

Chicken and rice are very easily digestable foods. Phoebe’s yum should do the trick, but be sure NO Salt in the broth-no spices at all. They can cause stress on the liver of a sick animal. Poor Perry seems to be in some discomfort. Are his pupils dialated? That is usually a good sign of pain in an animal. If I remember correctly Perry was having some kidney/urinary problems? If so, softly feel his abdomen. Is there a large bulge down toward the hip area? He may be having problems voiding his bladder.

    Hi HM,
Little Bob is sleeping on “his” office chair after a visit to the vet for a feline leukemia shot - the shots always knock him right out! Before he went to the vet though, he was a bundle of energy in the office, tearing about like a wild animal!!!
He’s eating a lot and doesn’t mind taking his medicine drop antibiotics for the kidney infection, and the vet told me e’s quite heatlhy. I’m continuing the antibiotics till they’re all gone. He threw up yesterday, though, when I gave him the “Blue Spa Select” kitty food mixed with the Nutro Natural Choice Kitten Food, the vet told us to continue. I’ve noticed that when he is ready to throw up, he makes these distinct “talking” meow sounds, so I hurried up and took him off my bed, and even had time to put down a piece of newspaper before he got started. Afterwards he went right back to his food bowl looking for more food!!!
I was on the phone with a friend, while this happened, and a few minutes later, she goes “Eeeeww, my dog just threw up!” Weird! Needless to say, we had to cu the conversation short and both go and do some cleaning up!

You know what? My oldest baby does the talking meow when he’s about to throw up too. He always waits for me to put newspaper down though. He’s very polite like that. He’s the only one who ever gets sick, and since I started him on Purina One hairball control, he hasn’t been sick once. (He has very long hair that he’s obsessive about grooming. He’s quite vain).

We bought some Blue Spa this weekend for the new baby and she gobbled it right up. I think we read every can in detail before choosing food.

Petey decided to hack up a huge hairball last week right on my bed he was hiding/sleeping under the comforter and sheet. What a surprise I had at bedtime - yuk. It was about the size of kitten.
