Titus and Cassius

Location: Tacoma, Washington, USA

Titus and CassiusThese ginger tabby brothers were left by their mama at my sister’s house. My nieces convinced me to take them both, “so they wouldn’t be lonely”. Titus has white stripes on his flanks (you can see one in the picture), and will climb anything. Cassius is a lover, cuddler and talker. They’re three months old in this picture, and are now 9 months. They are my sweeties.

Yes, mine is too! He is the most loving of my cats, but then he gets too excited and likes to nip at me. What is up with that? But he is just loverly! He bounds right on to my chest (yes, when I am trying to read), and starts purring and making muffins. He is just adorable.

I was just going to foster him (yeah, right), but he used to wait for me right outside the bathroom, and when I would come out, he would sit back on his haunches and lift his little front arms to be picked up, just like a human baby. I fell HARD for him, and I am still pretty infatuated.

2007-04-27 01:50:38

Maybe our cats are related (click on my name to see Bosley). . .he will also bite at me while still purring and being so sweet. He actually waits for me on the bathmat and sits up on his back end like a bear all of the time. Is yours a talker, too?

Your baby is so cute. Love the pic of him lying on his back. Reminds me of my kitty BOOBOO a organ and white van kitty I had when I was 9 years old. He and his brother Yogi were like night and day. BooBoo was nice and round and huge in size and yogi was small and skinny. Funny thing was BooBoo was the runt of the litter. No wait I always pick the runt of a litter when I get a new furry family memeber and they always turn out to be the biggest one in adulthood.

Anways BooBoo used to climb in bed with me and sleep on his back like that too. He was a bed hog but just too cute and I didn’t mind the furry bed warmer.

Siddhartha is by Herman Hesse, it’s about a man who goes thru his life journey and ends up as Buddha. Ya know how kitties sorta like to sit with their front paws curved in with their eyes closed and smiles on their fuzzfaces? Look like little Buddhas :-)

Sorry to line-butt, but whoevers here, there’s been a very disturbing development in the food recall. Chicken soup for the cat lovers soul food, kirkland premium canned, and several other brands thought to be safe. As for Kirkland, I used it. It did NOT have any grain additive listed. Just whole grain flour. Rice FLour, for My Nate, who has been eating it for the past two weeks. He seems okay, and couldn’t understand why he got people food tonight. Tomorrow I join the ranks of the pet food preparers.
Go to the itchmo site and read up on this.

**Precautionary Rice Protein Recall: Drs. Foster & Smith Adult Dry Lite Dog and Adult Dry Lite Cat Food**

Rice protein concentrate has been indicated as a possible source of melamine recently found in pet food products. As a precautionary measure Wilbur-Ellis company, the supplier of rice protein concentrate, is voluntarily recalling all lots of rice protein concentrate. We received notification from the manufacturer today, April 25, 2007, suggesting we issue a precautionary recall.

Two of our products: Adult Lite Dry Dog (Item #’s 14178, 14179, 14180, 14262, 14263) and Adult Lite Dry Cat foods (Item #’s 12855, 12856, 13864, 13865) contain rice protein concentrate. Only the Adult Lite Dry Dog and Adult Lite Dry Cat foods contain rice protein concentrate.

Preliminary test results for melamine contamination have been negative. Final test results from the FDA are expected within two weeks. Please check the Adult Lite Dry Dog food or the Adult Lite Dry Cat food product pages on the DrsFosterSmith.com website for any updates.

If your pet has consumed either the Adult Lite Dry Dog food or the Adult Lite Dry Cat food and shows signs of illness (such as loss of appetite, lethargy and vomiting), you should consult with your veterinarian immediately.

As part of this precautionary recall Drs. Foster & Smith requests that customers discontinue feeding the following products purchased during the periods listed, until all FDA testing is complete:

Adult Lite Dry Dog food item numbers 14180, 14262, 14263, or Adult Lite Dry Cat food item numbers 12855, 12856, 13864, 13865 purchased between January 22, 2007 and April 19th
Adult Lite Dry Dog food item numbers 14178 and 14179 purchased between February 2, 2007 and April 19, 2007
Only Adult Lite Dry Dog (Item #’s 14178, 14179, 14180, 14262, 14263) and Adult Dry Lite Cat foods (Item #’s 12855, 12856, 13864, 13865) are included in this precautionary recall.

Got a question for ya, (or anyone else who would know.)
My daughter asked me about a movie we saw many years ago, but I don’t know the name. I told her about your interests and decided to ask. First, do you watch Stargate SGI?
Do you remember the movie with the two human robots, she thinks Michael J. Fox was in this movie? He asked the female robot what her name is, and she says Roberta, then he asked what her last name is, she said Roberta Roberta. Do you remember this movie at all? She would like to know the name.
Thanks…..

Thank you for helping to think of the movie for us! :) I appreciate you asking your hubby too! Thanks!!

Perry seems to be doing okay. He is acting more himself each day and is still on antibiotics for a few more days. The Hill’s c/d from the vet is sure junk with lots of preservatives and I worry. Hopefully I can find something else to get for him. He should be eating wet food, but I am too scared….. Bugger won’t eat much homemade food. Only some chicken I made for them. I looked at the California Natural website with Innova and Evo, ect. Might try some of that. I have been spending all my free time reading and reading and reading…. anything on the recalls and comments on Itchmo site. Very interesting, but so time consuming. My eyes are so sore…

I just adore this site with all the wonderful people on it! I really missed Ivory Bill too. Hope he knows how much we like him and enjoy his poems!!

**Tips on Getting Sick Cats to Eat**
By: Petplace Staff

If your cat is acting sick and not wanting to eat, the safest thing is to take your cat to your veterinarian and allow them to evaluate your pet for an underlying cause. It is important not to overlook this important symptom of a problem.

There are cats with diagnosed problems that just don’t feel well and want to eat. For these pets, there are several things you can try.

If your cat does not have interest in his everyday food, you can try offering something special. Sick pets may reach the point where some form of nutrition (within reason) is better than no nutrition.

Often offering a cat a small amount of a new food will stimulate their appetite and encourage them to eat. Consider your pet’s illness before selecting the foods. For example, if your pet has been nauseous, offer bland foods. Avoid rich or fatty food and table scraps if possible. For diet recommendations for your cats particular problem, check with your veterinarian.

To encourage your cat to eat, begin by offering healthier choices, such as a quality, canned or semi-moist pet food, boiled chicken, tuna, etc. Meat-flavored baby food is a tasty, bland food that is good to entice a pet’s appetite. Do NOT feed only baby food as a primary nutrient source, as it does not contain enough calories to sustain your pet. Make sure you avoid foods containing onion in cats because onions can be toxic.

If healthier food choices are not working, you can try some pet “junk” food. Lower-quality canned food (which is usually more palatable), sandwich meat, etc. are some possible choices.

I totally agree about getting your cat to the vet if they aren’t eating. My Bounce wasn’t eating and it turned out he was hyperthyroid. He’s on meds now and doing great, just turned 15!

Hi Owned by cats. 2 years ago, my tabby, Lucky, had started to lose weight rapidly. He always had weighed 15-17 lbs. He bottomed out at around 12 lbs. I had my vet check him out and he was hyper thyroid. So she put him on meds. He began eating again and now can’t seem to stop packing on the lbs. I try to cut him back, but he is hungry. He weighs 20 lbs now. It is one of the side effects of the meds. But compared to being without them, this is just what I have to live with. It’s sad sometimes because he has trouble jumping up on the bed and some high things. Still can run like the wind though! Wishing your baby much good health.

These ginger babies are adorable!

Hi Owned by cats, Bounce lost a lot of weight in a short period of time, got down to 10 pounds. He’s only put on three more pounds, so he’s 13 lbs which is still skinnier than before he got sick. The vet doesn’t seem to be too concerned unless he looses weight. The way he eats he should weight about 50 pounds. His nick-name is Food Boy because he will eat everyone’s food.

Original Purpose: Making a bed for your stir-fry.
Aha! Use: Scouring your coffee grinder. Mill a handful of grains and the fine particles will absorb stale odors and clean out residual grounds and oil. Discard rice and wipe clean.
Reward: A cleaner cup of coffee (and another take on rice and beans).

When I worked at McDonald’s ages ago, we used to take a still-warm glass coffee urn that had burnt coffee on the bottom, liberally sprinkle baking soda in the urn, add ice cubes, swirl and rinse. Voila! No more burnt coffee.

In the resturant business we always used ice, salt and lemon juice. Cold or warm it worked wonders.

I love soda crystals as a cleaning agent - with or without the vinegar! Soda crystals (it’s like a coarser grade of baking soda, and cheaper!) by themselves are great for tea stains, and I often use vinegar for limescale
