Fenway
Location: Boston, Massachusetts, USA

This is Fenway at four months old. She’s perfectly named after the 2007 World Series Champions’ ballpark, and even enjoys watching them play. She really just enjoys watching the TV, and doing what she is doing in the picture, lounging comfortably. Fenway is the prettiest little maine coon kitten with her long tail, mischief filled adventures and mismatched tufted ears (one black, one orange). She has been the best, and luckiest, addition to our family since day one.

Scotch
Location: Chelsea, Quebec, Canada

At two or three weeks old, Scotch was rescued from under a deck where he had been crying for three days - feral Mom was still around, apparently, but probably wasn’t getting enough food to keep her brood happy. All kittens were looked after, though. Here he is at about seven weeks, admiring the fresh snow from the window kitten perch. He will be going to his forever home in about a week.
The kitten has been given a name by his prospective owners - “Scotch” as in scotch tape. Their other kitty is named Velcro. I hope they get along as well as their namesakes. My hands and forearms (and ankles too) are covered with scratches - all he wants to do is fight and scratch and bite and play. I try to keep him occupied when possible, or well supplied with activities (like the Cardboard Kitten Castle and the kittenBridge) so that he can have some fun by himself. The early years are so important ! (to borrow a human phrase).

Oreo
Location: Long Island, New York, USA

We adopted Oreo from a neighbor who rescued a pregnant stray female. She gave birth to four really, really cute kittens. My daughter got to pick a kitten for her birthday and went straight for Oreo. He has now been with us for seven years and has been a truly wonderful member of our family. He has two black and white cousins also named after snacks… Ring Ding and Yodel.

Jake Peavy
Location: San Diego, California, USA

Meet Jake Peavy, named after the San Diego Padres’ pitcher (and this year’s National League CY Young Winner)! We call him Jake for short. Jake is a four month old Snowshoe mix kitten, (or so we think). We got him on September 24, 2007 when he was about two months old.
There are so many reasons why Jake is special. First of all, he is a very sweet kitten, and with those blue eyes of his he can get just about anything! His purr motor goes off often. When he is asleep on the couch, and you go over to pet him, his purr motor will start immediately, vibrating SO loudly. Jake is a lap cat when he wants to be, which makes him all the more sweet. We hope he stays a lap cat all his life, as we love to have his furry body on our laps, purring loudly. Second of all, Jake is very playful. Yes, nearly all kittens are playful, I know. It is so funny though because he has this little crinkle ball, and if you throw it out to him, he’ll just start running around the house with it, doing his own thing! In addition, sometimes he will bring one of the stuffed toy kittens that we have downstairs in his mouth, set it down, then start tackling it! Not that he doesn’t have any real cats to play with, he lives with 3 other cats, Nellie (age 4), Reggie (age 1 1/2), and Nitschke (9 months). He does play with them often, though, as well. Third of all, Jake is special because he has a BIG appetite! Before we got him at the shelter, we had to wait awhile until he was big enough to be adopted out to us. So maybe he just eats a lot because he didn’t get much of it when he was younger (he came in as a stray to the shelter). And the last reason why Jakey is so unique is because of his beautiful coat and eyes! Who could resist those set of blues?
Hope you’ve enjoyed meeting Jake, and that he put a smile on your face today! He puts a smile on our faces everyday.

Meet my little Gavin. He was adopted from the SPCA. Who could resist the quiet little black cat! But don’t be fooled by those big blue eyes, he really is quite a brat.

Pepper
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

This is Pepper. She’s having a little nap, wrapped up in a napkin like a burrito. She’s the smallest of a litter of five brothers and sisters. We love her for who she is; a bug chasing, floor sliding, bow legged, slightly daft little angel. She brightens our every day. Thanks Pepper.
