Success! It DOES work. She went from waking us up about 4-5 times a night to not waking us up at all (not even in the morning!!) So definitely if you have a kitty that is too young to be away from her mom (for sad circumstances of course :[ ) then just stuff a sock full of stuff that smells like you and put it in her favorite snoozin spot. :]

Most cats will decide what type of food they like. In some cases a cat may even have an allergic reaction that you can't see, and that is why they won't eat it. My cat doesn't like dry food, and will go nuts for canned or wet food. What we do sometimes is just mix the two, and some days just give her one or the other. Try to get the cat to drink water before she is eating the Hill's, and she just may enjoy the wetness of it!!( another thing is put some warm water and Wiska's on the hills, and slowly ween the cat off of the Wiska's).

How is Amy doing today? The CyberHummer is right outside the cafe, so you can stash your stuff in there, and the keys are on the hook by the DJ station. And an agency kitten just handed me a cup of cafe au lait. Vicki, you're a wonderful hostess.

Count Miss Leela and me in as well! Leela brought her skates to the rink and my whack-bonk stick is freshened up and ready for action at a moment's notice.
It's a nice fall Saturday here in North Joisey. Hubby raked leaves and I unloaded bags of stuff that I don't know what to do with from my truck. Winter's coming and I will be driving my 4WD so I need to turn it from a shed back into a truck (I drive a more gas-efficient car in non-icy weather). Now all this stuff is in my living room - mocking me. I will be attacking it soon! Much of it I will be able to take to the battered women's shelter and some of it will be suitable for me to donate to our local animal shelter. Got my work cut out for me!

Some of the farm cats have herpes and most of the symptoms went away when they started to get 1000mg lysine a day. However since I put them on raw they don't need lysine anymore and are doing better than they even did on lysine.

Hi, all... I volunteer, rescue, help the shelter...
I have a foster kitten (&sibling) that was originally put in with a surrogate momma kitty but I took them to bottle feed them because they were being neglected/pushed away (there were 10 kittens to this 1 momma!). One kitten has done well but the other has been on antibiotics on/off her whole short life of about 8wks for URI, snotty nose. We've gone from Amoxicillin to Clavamox. I found out one/some of the 10 kittens has Herpes. I have another foster kitten about 12wks & have had to start him on the clavamox, too. They are kept in separate cages, but are near. Luckily, my own cats are ok... She's almost done with the Clavamox & I would've expected her to be getting better but she's just the same as when I started it. She's eating & playing well, but I feel bad because I can't let them out to play & socialize & the sibling that's well is showing signs of unsocialization. I've done a little research & suggestions are to give powdered lysine, get a Leuk. test, go back to the Vet & get a stronger antibiotic called Azithromycin. Any thoughts? Thanks!

So Stumpie came home this afternoon :) He was so happy! He recognised me right away (thought he might not after so much time), and he hasn't stopped purring yet. He rode on my lap in the car on the way home, just happy to be purring. When we got home I put him in my room, and he first sniffed my chair, then my pc, and then his little stump shot right up and he started purring again wwhen he recognised his old scratching post. You could almost hear the penny drop 'wait a minute, I know this place!' He hasn't left my side since we came home. He's so happy! Will have to come up with a new name though - the child has grown a lot, he now has 1/4 of a tail . . . not just a stump anymore :)

Well, Pickle has had her day at the vets and is now back home zooming around like a lunatic. I caught her quite easily and took her in Thursday evening. She had her operation first thing on Friday morning, and they rang me at 11.30 to say all was well and she was waking up nicely. I was allowed to pick her up any time after 1.30, but because of w**k couldn't get there until nearly 5.00. I paid the bill (ouch!) and the receptionist told me to take a seat. I waited and waited.

After quite a while the receptionist came back and said "They're just trying to get Pickle out of her cage and into her basket". I asked her if they wanted some help, and she said she'd ask. A few minutes later the nurse arrived and asked me through to the consulting room. She went through the post-op checklist with me, but confessed she hadn't been able to put Pickle into her basket. (I had warned them that she is rather wild!)She asked me if Pickle "has always been like that." So I explained her history. "Oh", said the nurse, "Perhaps I ought to have put her back in her own basket while she was still dopey".
Anyway, I offered to put her into the basket myself. The nurse took me through to the cat section of the hospital and there was Pickle sitting up in her cage looking very alert and perky. I was really pleased with the way she responded to me. She obviously recognised me and when I opened her cage she only cowered down at the back and hissed at me. When I grabbed her she made no attempt to bite or scratch me, and she went into her basket with no trouble at all.
She came home and was immediately back to her normal lively self. She's eating well and doing everything a kitten should - apart from being cuddly that is.

I call that the sharky-stage - when they have a double row of teeth going on . . . I usually just give my babies some biltong to chew on, it helps with the itching gums . Biltong is dried meat, very tough and salty. Works well for teething human babies as well :)

Did you need a beignet with the cafe au lait, NC? I just took some out of the fryer and sprinkled them with powdered sugar.

We're in an apartment too so it's even more tricky. And I'm a single mom, not really handy with stuff.

I agree with much of what has been said before. You need to remember she is a bored teenager! This too will pass... but I have also had great luck with Feliway, and I think a younger companion would be a great idea, once you have the space... I have three young-ish cats now, 2 are littermates, one a singleton, and they chase each other all over the house, wrestle, and sleep together... so cute to watch! mine love milk bottle rings, toilet paper rolls and paper bags too!

Morning everyone! I am sleepy, so I need a serious dose of caffiene... Jumbo cafe au lait, please.
Went to the Hornets (BBall) game last nite with some of my Muses krewe friends - they lost *sigh*. However, we did make it onto the jumbo-tron during one of the time-outs! That was cool! The fact that we were waving our pink feather boas like fools may have had something to do with it! Today is catch up on work and home chore days... before and after the LSU-Alabama game of course... wish me luck!
And if we need to hop on the cyber-bus, count me in! I have some homemade stew in the freezer that would be great comfort food for dear MC...
