I had my misses spayed at Pet Love and they do it free, don't now where your at but go on line and do a search for pet love in your area. Or maybe your county spca or county animal control can direct you to a site. The only thing I didn't like about pet love is they herd the animals thru like cattle, it is a first come first serve thing and they have so many to do I guess there is nothing wrong with it and my misses went thru it well and no prblems. when you get yours home you can not let them jump on jump down for about a week.

Even if the kitten's deaf, its not a big deal. They can pick up on floor vibrations so they will know when you are coming (if they are not sleeping). The main thing is that the cat should never be allowed outside because deaf cats can't hear cars coming. Also, you may want to affix a bell on him if you have a big place so you can find h

Cats aren't highly trainable anyway. They don't always come when called (especially if there is no food) and I've never been able to teach any of my cats tricks or other commands. They are just great companions.

I have my own domestic cats, and I also have 3 colonies of feral cats that I work with. All my cats have been spayed and neurtered, and there is definitely a difference in the price they charge for domestic vs feral animals. This may sound a little cruel, but most of my ferals that I had spayed were caught in the morning, and by evening they had been spayed and returned to the colony. For domestic cats, they do a lot of 'nice' things like blood tests and over-night stays, but in my opinion its not necessary. I've had ferals in HORRIBLE physical shape done - underweight, sick, FIP/FIV/Leukemia positive, and they did just fine on it. The vets know what they're doing, and they basiscs I'm sure stay the same. The female ferals always have the inscision done through the flank - that way there is less chance of internal complications, and they literally have a 1cm scar and one stitch, so there is no need for a return visit, and the vet always gives them serious doses of pain medication while they're still under anesthetic, because they know in a feral colony a weak cat will get picked on. If I were in your shoes, I'd get some more opinions. If your kitty's shots are up to date, she's in good weight and condition, has been wormed recently, what on earth do they need to do blood tests for to make sure she's healthy? Again, not a nice thing to say, but a lot of vets make their money on routine procedures like spays and vaccinations. I've worked with vets who only charged me for the surgery cost and medication used, so I know there's a huge mark-up on what they charge regular people. I'm in SA - a spay here can cost anything from R400-800, depending on the vet you use. My vet charges R300 for a spay, but he alaways asks me R75 for a feral spay, so one has to wonder what the other R225 goes towards?

Hmmm, i am not sure where you are but i had all 3 of my cats and 2 of my dogs "fixed" at one of the SPOT clinics(www.bestfriendofshelterpets.org) It cost me 95 for my female and 65 for my male i am pretty sure. That included an over night stay at the vet, not sure about blood work and it also included their rabies shot. All of mine had no complications what so ever and healed beautifully. That is just my expoeriance..maybe other's here that are closer to you and maybe could tell you about their situation at some place near you.

So my cats had a vet visit today and I asked for an estimate for what it would cost to have my cat spayed, and they gave me an estimate of $353. And the only place they accepted vouchers/coupons from, apparently, they ran out of funds. I was wondering if anyone here has had their cat spayed/neutered at clinics and how that turned out. We were told that the Vets did a blood test before hand to make sure the cat's organs could handle the anesthetics and that they were kept overnight (the females at least) and were under constant supervision, both human and mechanical (monitors). They said the spay clinics did not do that and sent the cat home the same day. Obviously I need my cat spayed, but that's quite a hefty bill, especially taking into consideration that a few months from now, I'll have to get the kitten fixed as well. We're going to look into some stuff, but if anyone has any experience with alternative places or good websites to locate such places, post some links if possible.

Shakespeare was neutered at age 5 months, and he's 17 now. If it wasn't for the electric fence on our wall, he'd still be out looking for girls every night. Before that, NOTHING could stop him from getting out. He still sits in front of our gate with misty eyes at night, hoping for a pretty girl to walk by . . . I dont think anyone ever told him he's shooting blanks. As far as personality goes, he always was and still is a lover-boy.

Oh dear - I can clearly see Zorro working his way down this list right now! That boy is such a pirate - first he invaded my house, then last night he was actually snatching chicken off my plate! Honestly, all my cats have had such good table manners, I don't know how to deal with this one.

We rescued a male cat and got him neutered. 12 years later he's still the most affectionate cat I've every seen. He goes on our laps every night and sleeps with us and curls up against us, etc. The only behavior that will probably change is that he'll be less likely to get loose to find cats in heat and fight with male cats.
