I haven't had wee ones in ages so I can't help much except to say keep this thread "bumped". This forum tends to be a bit less active during the weekend but if we keep the thread active someone will come along who has more experience.

Hi guys, Im new to the forum and to all of this actually:)..ive found two little kittens more than a week ago and took them home and have been feeding them and stimulating them each day...1 has opened its eyes and the other one is on its way (sooooo cute!!!). Just to keep you updated, they have been pooping each day at least once and urinating regularly. I have been also rubbing their bellies after each meal and after they have urinated and pooped and then they are ready to sleep. The last 3 days they havent pooped though and im really really worried :S..i have been stimulating them with cotton balls and warm water, they urinate regularly but not a single poop and im worried. They usually leave poops in their box under the blanket but ive checked there also and nothing.....Should I be worried??? Their bellies are not hard so im guessing they are not constipated, and they dont cry (only when its pee pee time - they dont seem to like it very much lol, but lately since they've opened eyes ive been talking to them and they are a bit more relaxed i think)... Im paying a visit to the vet on Monday but I also wanted your opinion since you seem to know your stuff :)....

Also I would like to ask: Is it normal that one of them the last few days is sucking (like when they are drinking milk) the other on its anal area??? The other one doesnt seem to mind that much but Im kinda worried...Is it possible that they eat their poop???? I know i sound like a crazy person but I havent done this before and Im freaking out a bit...

Anyway thanks for your help!!!!!!

Is Mouse completely feral or does he appear to be someone's ex-pet? If he is a once tamed stray, you should be able to get him comfortable with living in the house fairly easily, although it could take time.

If he is a total feral, you might still be able to tame him, but that takes a ton of patience. Here's one website that may help: http://www.feralcat.com/taming.html , you can google others.

Although the inside vs outside cat debate isn't one we are suppose to discuss, keeping Mouse inside until he realizes you are his people and this is his home would be a good idea. Once he gets comfortable with his humans, shelter and a steady supply of food, he probably won't wander too far if he goes back outside.

Right now Mouse is tucked away in a bedroom, still in the cat carrier. The vet said to keep an eye on him for 24 hours.

The question is, what do we do after that? Keep him in the spare room and try to get him to calm down? Let him go outside and hope he comes back? We're really attached to him, but we don't know how to handle a somewhat wild stray.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, she actually isn't having much problem with her eyes, just her diarrea, she comes to me or my mom for comfort. She loves to cuddle, but since she has had diarrea we've wrapped her in a small towell just for accidents, she actually loves the extra comfort. She won't let us out of her sights. Checked with the vet and friday is the earliest they can get her in

She could have a cold, or a food allergy, or have eaten something she shouldn't have (a plant or people food or cleaning products).

You can give her a little bit of canned pumpkin (not pie mix, just plain pumpkin) or a little bit of plain unflavoured yogurt and see if that helps. You can gently clean her bum off with baby wipes.

The best think to do is get her into the vet. Can you call them and see if they can fit her in any earlier?

I would like some advice my Himilayan is 19 months old we have currently introduced a baby into the household and the cat last night decided to pee on the bottem of the change table/bath station we have where we keep all the clean baby nappies. is this a territorial thing ?? she has not ever done this before and the litter box is outside in her cat run and gets changed regular mostly by me but currently by my partner as i have had a c section. i was in the process of bathing the baby at the time and i did notice as i had piled up the babys laundry in the same room that she had been sniffing around that before moving onto the bottom of the change table and just letting go. She had her vet check a week ago so all medical reasons can be excluded.

Love the vet story, Skyron. We've seen the same thing play out with cats over and over again on a show we like to watch on Animal Planet. Of course, there are other reasons for their aggression too, but the humans' fears play into it.

Well, we’ve been to the vet. And my mouth is still gaping . . .

When we got there I explained to Dr. Peck in a very serious, solemn voice, that Screecher is not a tame hamster, and that she’s probably going to bite him if he tries to pick her up. And he’s just like ‘ok, let’s see what’s up’. He unscrews the lid from her exercise ball, sticks two fingers in there, and Screecher just climbs on his fingers and hops into his hand like it’s no big deal . . . He examines her, squints into her eye (still no screeching or biting or squirming of any kind going on) and declares that her eye has a bed case of conjunctivitis.

She needs drops in her eye, 3 times a day. He just squirted a drop of the medication on his finger and rubbed it into her eye (still no screeching or biting or squirming of any kind going on), and popped her back into her ball, where she quietly digs into the wood shavings and goes back to sleep like nothing ever happened . . .

Meanwhile, I’m practically clinging to the wall, expecting all hell to break loose at any moment. The Dr. explains to me that she can sense that I’m scared & nervous of her, and that’s why she gets screechy when I go near her – if I were to calmly hold my hand out to her, she’d be fine with me. And he picks her back up, and pops her into my hands before I could get back onto the wall, and lo and behold, there she sat, ever so quietly, sniffing my hand . . .

What the . . .??
