Hi guys, Im new to the forum and to all of this actually:)..ive found two little kittens more than a week ago and took them home and have been feeding them and stimulating them each day...1 has opened its eyes and the other one is on its way (sooooo cute!!!). Just to keep you updated, they have been pooping each day at least once and urinating regularly. I have been also rubbing their bellies after each meal and after they have urinated and pooped and then they are ready to sleep. The last 3 days they havent pooped though and im really really worried :S..i have been stimulating them with cotton balls and warm water, they urinate regularly but not a single poop and im worried. They usually leave poops in their box under the blanket but ive checked there also and nothing.....Should I be worried??? Their bellies are not hard so im guessing they are not constipated, and they dont cry (only when its pee pee time - they dont seem to like it very much lol, but lately since they've opened eyes ive been talking to them and they are a bit more relaxed i think)... Im paying a visit to the vet on Monday but I also wanted your opinion since you seem to know your stuff :)....

Also I would like to ask: Is it normal that one of them the last few days is sucking (like when they are drinking milk) the other on its anal area??? The other one doesnt seem to mind that much but Im kinda worried...Is it possible that they eat their poop???? I know i sound like a crazy person but I havent done this before and Im freaking out a bit...

Anyway thanks for your help!!!!!!

Hey, guys, could use some purrs and prayers later today. My boyfriend and I are taking our second feral in for a spa day today. The feral's name is Mouse, and he is a pretty and sweet gray boy.

I've grown quite attached to him, and I am worried that, when we turn him loose later, he'll run away. So please send prayers and positive vibes for everything to go well and for Mouse to forgive us.

I would like some advice my Himilayan is 19 months old we have currently introduced a baby into the household and the cat last night decided to pee on the bottem of the change table/bath station we have where we keep all the clean baby nappies. is this a territorial thing ?? she has not ever done this before and the litter box is outside in her cat run and gets changed regular mostly by me but currently by my partner as i have had a c section. i was in the process of bathing the baby at the time and i did notice as i had piled up the babys laundry in the same room that she had been sniffing around that before moving onto the bottom of the change table and just letting go. She had her vet check a week ago so all medical reasons can be excluded.

My 6-month-old kitten drinks a lot of water, but only from this one water bowl that I leave out for her next to my room. She has another food and water bowl in the basement, but she NEVER drinks water from there. She's accustomed to the basement - like she'll eat, sleep, play and use the litterbox there, but will never drink the water there...only the one next to my room. When I pour water in there, she goes crazy..like she jumps up and runs towards it and drinks for like 2 minutes straight. It empties out very quickly and I have to refill it quite often. When I check her litterbox, it's always mostly pee with some normal poo as well. I feed her mostly dry food with some occasional wet food as well. She's playing and eating as normal.

I've read online that drinking water excessively could be a sign of diabetes, kidney problems or thyroid issues? I'm worried. Do you think that's the case with my kitty? Should I make an appointment with the vet? What would the vet do though..bloodwork? I'm reluctant to talk to the vet before asking for advice here because he's the kind of doctor that tends to tell me everything's fine and I have nothing to worry about and won't run tests unless I persist lol. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Well, the crappy news of 2012 continues....My brother-in-law (the one just diagnosed with cancer) fell last night and broke his hip. He is to have surgery this morning to pin it and whatever else they are going to do. This probably means a cessation of the cancer treatments and the surgery is high risk anyway, because one of the tumors is wrapped around the pulmonary artery. My sister, is of course devastated. Her children are coming to be with her today and over the weekend so that will help. Can I ask for more prayers for them all? This is not going to be good....... I am sending up prayers right and left, all day long for all of my TDK family, for all the needs we have right now. (Cross posted on FB)

I'm almost 30 and I have a dilemma. I work with a gal who is 25 and she is a manager just like I am. Over the past year or so we talk a lot and hang out. She has 2 kids and 2 Christmases ago I played Santa to her kids. They like me and she and I have gone out together a couple of times as friends. I have started to see her differently in the past few months and am wanting to see if it would be possible to take our friendship to the next level.

I have no clue on how I should go about doing this and yes I am nervous. We enjoy each others company and last night I went over to her apartment and we watched a movie and just talked. We sat on the opposing end of the couch but we were laughing and enjoying ourselves. I was wantiing to tell her how I feel and if she would consider maybe taking our friendship to the next level, but for the first time in quite a long time I just didn't know what or how to say it.

I know many here are women and I seek your advice. I feel like I'm back in high school again, and that was 12 yrs ago!!

Can ya'll help me? I'm not afraid of her saying no ....ok maybe a little bit but I know our friendship is pretty strong so even if she did say no it wouldn't kill the friendship we have.

So I recently adopted a new cat, Mel. He is one of the sweetest cats I have ever met. He loves hugs he likes being held. He is just so great. But... When he gets in a playful mood, its like he turns viscous. He will attack my arms and legs. Usually I see it coming and scruff him and put him in a covered pet carrier until he clams down. If he does manage to bite me it really hurts. I've tried blowing in his face, talking calmly to try and sooth him, pushing him away. But the carrier is the only thing that works. I can't take him back to the shelter, if he does this to someone there he will be euthanized. I love him dearly but I just don't understand how he can go from rubbing all over me and cuddling to what he turns into. He sometimes does this to my other cats also. Normally they stand their ground but I try to stop him from being like that and then he goes after me. Giving him up is not an option right now. I need some advice on how I should handle him.

I rescued a 5ish week old kitten (he was covered in fleas and cockroaches!) around 4 days ago and i'm a bit worried about his meowing habits, now i know that kittens cry as we have an 8 month old cat that we got when he was 7 weeks, but our new kitten is just constant, and when we pick him up and try to comfort him he just cries even louder and harder!

What could be causing him to be crying so damn much, even when he is getting attention and warm hugs?

It was because my hard drive ate a virus and I had to get my computer fixed. What should've been a simple 3 day repair for about 200 dollars wound up being a week long deal that involved complete hard drive replacement and new operating system for more than twice that amount. I've lost computers before, but never was it a gouge to the eye and wallet like this time. OWTCH.

What I learned:

My little kitty does this thing where she would go into another room and meow. Constantly. It was cute. I'd always check to see if anything was wrong, but she just wants to play. If I had time I would play, but most of the time I would ignore her (Because I didn't want to encourage this behavior).

Last night she was meowing like normal (this time it was to get into my parents bedroom, but it was still normal meowing) but around 11pm her meows turned into yowling. It sounded bad so I checked up on her but she still just wants to play. She went on til 12pm (that is as far as I know because I fell asleep) and started again at 4am. With her yowling it sounds like she is in pain, but I'm pretty sure she isn't. I'm trying to ignore her so that she might stop. After a while the yowling dies down to a little meow, but then she starts back up.

Hey all, I am posting here because another tragedy has happened! Most of you know since the begining of this year there has been deaths all around. It started with a friend of mine who past away on New years morning. Since then a friend lost her Dad. My cousin he was 25 with two young children. Then another friends mother past, here Jean and jcats Dad. Well today a friend of mines 28 year old daughter past away. What is going on? This really bothers me as this happened almost 11years ago, my Mom past in March two months to the day my uncle past. I also had several friends pass that year and then in September we all know what happened, I lost a few friends on that horrible day. I will let you know I am scared... what is going to come next? I'm scared to answer my phone or open my emails. I'm. Just venting as all of this has really gotten to me. Love you all
I know deep down that it is not about me; he is just curious about the outside world. I know that mowgli missing isn't the saddest tragedy to happen to people so please everyone feel free to post yours so we can all cry and comfort each other. I'm hoping this will help others feel connected. Obviously, my lost/missing isn't of the same caliber as others, but you guys have helped me thus far to comfort me so i want us to come together and comfort each other as a community. This may be a long stretch, but i think we can comfort each other with our various situations.

I know this may sound lame, but my kitty, Prince, is very sick. He was acting very strange, not eating or being able to use the litterbox, and he wouldn't drink anything. He would hide and not come out when I called him, and I could feel all of his ribs and his backbone. We took him into the vet on the 9th, and she said he was very backed up with poop up in his intestines. It had been there for maybe a year, and was all hard, so she kept him overnight. And just yesterday she said one of two options was to either put him to sleep, or feed and water him by hand. We chose option 2. To feed and water him, which I have been doing, and he has had many difficulties with constipation and a hard time passing his stool. I wanted to be with him in case something happened, and I stayed home to take care of him. I hope you don't get mad at me for doing this, he's getting older and he just won't eat. I feel like it's my fault. I don't know how long I can continue to do this, and I'm hoping to hire someone, anything for him so I can get back to school. I love him so much, and I'm doing everything I can for him. I've been avoiding my ex-boyfriend, also. It's just been so hard, and when we found out Prince got sick, he broke up with me. It's just so hard, and I have to fight hard from just bursting into tears whenever I see him. It's been a very, very rough new year. :'( I'm so sad. I feel like killing myself if he dies....

Does anyone have advice on caring for a 5 month-old kitten after her spay surgery? I know the basics i.e. no jumping, rough playing, keep incision site dry etc..any other tips/advice? She sometimes licks her incision, but she does it off and on, not continuously so I'm not too worried (she's too crazy for me to put an E collar on her so I'm not even going to try). What I AM worried about is her weigh because she looks thinner to me after the surgery. Is that normal? She is eating okay though. Also, she's going up and down the stairs in my house (her litterbox/food are downstairs and she normally sleeps upstairs). She doesn't appear to be in pain. Is it ok to let her do this or should I move everything on to one floor? It's been more than 48 hours since the surgery.

Does anyone have any tips for reducing static cling on cats? Silverbelle in particular has a terrible time with it. It's gotten to the point where she shies away from being pet because she gets little shocks. Is it safe to rub a drier sheet over her? I've also been using cat/kitten wipes in hopes that it might help but it doesn't seem to be making much of a different. Gotta love the dryness of indoor heating!

Hi, Littermates! Plans for my father's celebration of life are nearly complete. We will have the service on Saturday. It's been a wild ride here in Yuma, but I've had so much help from his friends. It has been a pleasure to know them better and to learn more about my father through their memories of him. If you'd like to read his obituary and see a photo of him, it will be posted online tomorrow at <www.yumasun.com>. HIs name was Eric Carlson.
Thanks for all of your kind comments and candles lit. You have given me more strength than you can ever know. {{{TDK family}}}

Most of you have heard me mention Mr.Useless. And alot of you(I think) are a very good judge of character. You know that it almost always takes 2 to tangle. He's not perfect & neither am I. I say nasty things about him because...well....because he can be mean & nasty. I've been trying for years to get it together & get out of here w/many setbacks. There is now another.

At 4 am this morning I had to take him to the hospital. He's developed a very rare & life threatning infection. He went thru a 5 hour operation today to have the infection removed. He is now on respritory help. It doesn't look well at all but his family & I are trying to think positive that he will pull thru. He will be in intensive care for a month & a half. You heard it right. In 3 wks. from now the surgeon will attempt to reopen & remove any newly infected areas (if any) & continue to complete the task of removing anything that was destroyed by this infection. I seriously am at my wits end. I'm having a really hard time coping w/the fact that If there is a God,why he would be so cruel to do this to him & his family at this holiday time.
No matter how little him & I get along,I would never intentionally wish eveil things to happen to him. I would like to see him happy,if it's only briefly, just to see him enjoy some kind of life. He's had very little of that since his prostate cancer surgery & radiation treatments. In fact scar tissue from that treatment helped trigger (domino effect) the fast-spreading infection. It started this last wednesday & rapidly spread to life-threatning proportion as of this morning. I'm a bit angry because I was unable to sway him to go to the hospital at least 4 days ago. If he'd gone then, the danger would be less. His temperature spiked to a whopping 108 degrees this morning when we got to the hospital. He never once mentioned having a fever. It would've been manditory from me for him to go if I'd known. The 3 Muskateers (Misty,Spunky & Rusty are restless & missing him. Especially his favorite little girl Misty. are confused as to where he is but seem to know there is something wrong.
I don't know how I will deal w/taking care of the household & holding down things since I'm unaware of his financial practices & goings-on.
If I could ask of you....could you find it in your hearts to say a Prayer & some Good & Healing Thoughts for him to keep strong & pull thru this. His Mom & Dad can't deal w/this all so sudden ailment of their first born son. They need so much strength to get thru this. And altho Chuck & I have had our differences over the last 27 yrs. together,I would never want to wish him the pain & suffering he has endured these last couple weeks. So much for Happy New Year, hey?

I know I don't come here often, but I find myself asking for your assistance.

My girlfriend has an old lady kitty named Buffy, 12 years old. She's gotten frail over the last year or so, and today has started throwing up and generally acting like she doesn't feel well. So, girlfriend is taking her to the vet tomorrow.

GF is terrified that this may be time for Buffy to go to the Bridge, and she's just not ready to say goodbye. Can we send the famous TDK white light to my April and her Buffy? I love them both, and it breaks my heart to hear April crying over her baby.

This is Buffy: http://tinyurl.com/6thedub
