I'm new to this site. I must confess I'm a total cat/kitten fanatic!! I'm called "The Cat-Lady! I don't mind! ;) I have been taking care if strays for a few years. I have to keep them outside. But rest assured, they are all well provided for, shelter & food.

They, all 11, have a special place in my heart!! :) They each have a name, which they respond to. Love it!! One of my babies has been featured on TDK. His name is "Fratt"...one of my tuxedo kittens.

I look forward to seeing more of your adorable kitties!

Good morning everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself since I'm new here.

I have two beautiful kittens - Silverbelle and Sanskrit. My husband and I adopted Silverbelle in September. She is a beautiful, sleek grey kitty with a white mustache. We adopted another kitten at the same time. Her name was Coppertone. Unfortunately our Copper baby developed symptoms of FIP 2 weeks after her adoption. We took her to the vet and our worse fears were confirmed - she had the wet form of FIP. As she started to rapidly decline, we decided to eliminate her suffering and made the decision we didn't expect to have to make for 10 years or so. It was so incredibly difficult, but we know we made the right choice. Silverbelle was on her own for a month or so and it became clear that she needed a playmate.

So back to PetSmart we went and there we met Sanskrit. He was only about 8 weeks old and a ball of white fluff with bright blue eyes. My cat growing up was a Siamese/domestic shorthair mix and Sanskrit reminded me so much of my Snow Ling that there really was no choice to be made. It turns out he was sick too and refused to eat when we brought him home. After 3 scary nights at the vet's and lots of antibiotics later, he fully recovered and began chasing his sister, Silverbelle. They have been best friends ever since. Silverbelle has taken on the mother role and loves grooming and bringing toys to Sanskrit. They are such sweet babies and my husband and I feel truly blessed to have them in our lives. :)

Hello everyone!
So my daughter found a stray kittie in our backyard on Christmas Eve and we decided to keep her! We already have Cookie a chihuahua and Fluffy our cat (who we found in our alley, two years ago). We named the little kitten Mrs. Bells :) I have no clue what type of kitten is she or how old she is but she's small so, I'm assuming that she's like 3 weeks or so. Mrs. Bells has diarrhea which I'm assuming is because of the new food, she seemed to dislike the dry food so today I got her wet food and she loved it so far but we're still dealing with her diarrhea. Hope she gets better in the next few days or I'll have to take her to the vet. Any tips or suggestions on the new kitten would be greatly appreciated!
Steph

Hello, my name is Tim.

I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm a 19 year old guy from Sweden who live alone with my cat in our apartment.

My cat is named Taizon and I will be posting a few pictures of him here soon. If you really wish to see him, here's a link to a movie I uploaded on YouTube a couple of hours ago.

Anyways, I hope to see you all around.

I am hoping to make new kitten/cat friends and get advice cause I have my vet on speed dial at the moment lol... I have always had dogs so cats are a different experience for me

A friend showed me this site some time ago and I frequent here quite often. Today I thought I'd join the forum and make my introduction, along with my kitty intros as well.
My name is Dave and I'm a cat person. My first cat wasn't even mine to begin with. My sister took in a stray and named him Kakini, Hawaiian for "socks" (we lived in Hawaii at the time). I gave him pets now and then but at 9 years old I was all about playing outside. My sister eventually moved out but left Kakini with the family. He slowly became my buddy, sleeping on my bed, greeting me at the door, ambushing and chasing me around the house. By the time I was in high school, we were in separable. We developed a bond that all of you here can appreciate. I moved out and couldn't take him with me. He stayed with my parents for 3 years. When I was living in Ohio, my mother came to visit and she brought Kakini without telling me. We planned to meet at a local mall and my mother got there first...and Kakini got out of the car and ran off! I was so devastated and upset. I couldn't believe that I wouldn't see him again. We tried to search but he didn't turn up, we tried to make the best of my mother's visit. Six hours later, we returned to the mall to get my car. Then this feeling came over me, I couldn't explain it. My girlfriend was with us too and I told her to just wait a second, let me look over here. As I walked over to this random car, I got that feeling again. Then I could hear this meow...I looked under the car and there he was! He was covered in dirt and oil and looked like he had a rough evening. I was so happy to find him...and lucky. I don't know...I just knew he'd be there. I think he knew me finding him was lucky. Everyday since then he has been my buddy and I was his. Sadly, I had to put him down last year. He was so old, he limped when he walked and he eventually went blind. I cried for four days. He lived a full life, being born in Hawaii as a stray, to living in California, Texas, Michigan, and lastly Ohio as my best feline friend. I still tear up a little when I think about him. He was a great cat.
Sophie is my second cat. She was given to me as a kitten when Kakini was around. Oh boy did she torture him. He put her in her place but always let her pin him down once in a while. Sophie is my prude princess. She can only be touched if she lets you. Maybe...maybe she'll sit on your lap, if she feels like it. She growls if you try to touch her, especially if you catch her off guard. But she never hisses, and when she does feel like being social, you can't get her to stop. She may not always want to cuddle, but when she does it makes it that much more enjoyable.
Mint and Boston are my girlfriend's (now my wife) cats. Mint, ironically named because he has bad breath, is a lumbering, lazy man. He has a tendency to drool when you pet him. Boston is a bit of a prude like Sohpie but she is more willing to be held. They weren't my cats but they still became my buds. Boston had to be put down last year due to cancer and Mint was put down only a few days ago. It's been a sad past few days. Mints passing has reminded me of Kakini. Kakini used to boss these two around.
Monty. He is a monster. He is my first cat. I say that because he was the first cat I actually chose. After Kakini's passing, I decided that it was time to find a cat just for me, one that I know likes me and I like him (I wanted a boy). So for weeks I went to different shelters, playing with kitties, meeting people, playing with more kitties, and playing with more and more kitties. One day, a new litter of kittens was at one shelter and five of them were jumping all over the place causing all kinds of kitten trouble in there space, knocking over the water and food dish, getting in the litter and splashing it all over. At the back there was this little kitten curled up looking bored. His litter mates jumping over and on him, biting his ears and tail and he just ignored it. He was the runt and probably used to be pushed around. I held him and he just sprawled out in my hands and curled up then fell asleep. Countless kittens did this to me but this one felt different, more special. He would lick my hand and such and if I put him in with his brothers and sisters, he would just meow at me. So it was decided he would be my first cat. I just had to think of a name now. On the car ride home, my wife and I were just throwing names out, Steve, Mittens, Diaper Breath...everything we could think of! He just sat in my lap sleeping. Monty was spoken and he perked up and meowed. We said some random names and he did nothing. I said Monty and he meowed. Everytime we said Monty, he would meow. So it seemed he named himself. Monty was great for the first week, jumping on the curtains, scaling up my body to hang out on my shoulders, knocking things off of desks, terrorizing Sophie (Kakini's revenge!!) and Mint. But then he got really sick, he wouldn't eat or drink and started losing weight. He was only weeks old and only weighed .8 lbs. Yes, point eight pounds. I wouldn't have made it if he died, Kakini and Boston were put down recently at that time and if Monty didn't make it, I would have just given up with having cats. I did all I could and so did he and now, one year later he's almost ten pounds and causing as much trouble as he can. He does have asthma so I do have to keep an eye on him. He has coughing fits every few days but he isn't freaking out about them as much as he used to, nor am I. He truly is my cat. He loves to hang out on my shoulders still, now that he's bigger he can just jump up there now. He loves to hang there while I do the dishes or work on my computer. He loves to headbutt and when it's bedtime, he gives me a few headbutts before he just flops right on my face. No massages, no prepatory circling, just a flat out flop down on my face. I love him so much.
Sorry for the long post, I just really love Kakini and Monty and thought I'd briefly share their stories. I do love Sophie, Boston, and Mint too, and every kitty that I played with.

I've mostly had puppies and a couple kitties along the way. I was without either for around seven months and needed someone to come home to! While visiting my daughters, my granddaughter talked me in to going to the ARL. I said I would go only she was to make sure I didn't buy a puppy! I brought home a little black kittie, Penney. She's one and a half years (they guessed). Since it's been awhile, I have a question. Anywhere from midnight to 3am Penney wants me up to feed her her wet food. She's persistent, too! Should I feed her her wet food at another time or any suggestions? Thanks!

hi every one. i know that there are many people asking similar questions and questions that have been previously asked, but i have no idea how to search for them! any help with that would be greatly appreciated. however in the mean time i have a question.

me and my room mate (last tuesday) took in two 2 day old orphaned kittens found at a construction site that had no mommy :( . there were 2 other kittens with them that were found dead :,(. we took them to the vet to get them checked out. and now they r home with us. everything was going fine. they could suckle and had good appetites, they are already purring and love to be held and petted and snugle. they are also pretty active and both pee and poop often. but today i noticed that they both have one eye that is swollen and pink. i dont see any type of puss or drainage, their eyes are still closed (8 days old now). what could it be? they dont seem to be in pain. the only time that they ever cry is when i stimilate them to pee and poop. but other than that theyre purring and happy. i will take them to the vet if i need to but i just wanted some advice before hand of wat this could be and if theyre is anything at home i could do.

I have a 9week old Tabby boy named Kayo he was already an indoor kitten when I got him . I got him roughly a week ago and at first he was hiding under my bed meowing like crazy and a few hours later he hopped in my bed and accepted me. Today I got a 9 week old Calico female and named her Karma. Karma was an outdoor kitten so she's in a crate until our vet visit tomorrow to get her treated and stuff. I did let her out briefly to treat her with a flea and tick spray that worked well for Kayo and she ran under the bed and kept mewing, which was expected since Kayo did it when he first got here. So after a while Kayo tried to greet her and she hissed and swatted at him and he did the same in return. She won't let me pick her up. Anytime my hand, or anything for that matter, goes anywhere near her she hisses. They both have their first appointment at the vet tomorrow and I don't want them hissing at each other nor do I want her hissing at me. From what I experienced Karma won't scratch or bite at my hand when I reach for her, she just hisses, for now. The transition was so simple and easy for Kayo, why is it so difficult for Karma to adjust? Am I doing something wrong? Is this a sign that she will be an aggressive cat? What do I do? I only have one carrier and I bought it to be big enough for two so kittens, but they obviously can't go in the same carrier together I would get another one but my ride is getting here in just enough time to make it to their appointment, besides the store is in the opposite direction. Please help.....

Hello, um this I very recently (as in yesterday) adopted a 9 week old male kitten, named Nacho, who is my picture. ^_^ I am very worried about raising him as i've only ever had dogs, but I found this site by accident when I was searching for information for a few of my concerns. A lot of the suggestions have helped relieve my worried and he seems to be a very happy kitty so far. I can only hope this lasts. So, I hope to keep Nacho healthy, happy, and hope we can build a lasting relationship.

On a side note, I would like to introduce my little guy to brushing... any tips or suggestions would be welcome.

Hi :) I'm Andria, and I am a veterinary student, in my first year. I am also the new mommy of an adorable little kitty named Gabriel (Gabe for short). I'm very lucky to have him. I actually found him inside the front grill of my car on campus about four days ago, tucked inside the front trying to stay warm. He's so friendly and loving, I think he was abandoned (maybe by a student who couldn't afford to keep him anymore) anyway, I have him now, and I think we will make a great pair :)

Hello. We (my 2 boys 5 n 7) just adopted this sweet adorable kitten. This is our first pet. She is awesome! I only wish we could have 2 but we can only afford this little girl right now. Just wanted to say hello. O! I do have a question... dO cats need collars? are collars dangerous for outside cats (getting caught on something and choking them?) and if she doesn't go out, does she need a collar? Do your cats have collars? If she's microchipped right she shouldn't need a collar? Thanks for reading. :)

Hi, we are new to this. Not cats or kittens. But very young ones. Through a chain of events we (my husband and I) are now responsible for 2 white kittens. (There were 3 we lost one within a few hours of bring them in the house. He was cold, he wasn't by the other kittens. He was orange =( so sad) We think they are 10 days old now. Little girl is all white except a silver dot on her head. Little boy is all white. Little girl opened her eyes yesterday and is slightly bigger than little boy. But when we brought them in he still had his cord (it was dried but on). We brought them in the house on Friday morning. We have been taking care of them for 6 days now.
They are thriving and doing well, I have read everything I can. I was concerned because of what I read that maybe I was feeding them to much. So I put them on a more strict feeding schedule. They are getting KMR 1 1/2 tsp every 4 hours. we don't have a syringe so we translated it to tsp. Giving them only the amount they should have at each feeding. Well this is not going so well they are pooping better =) (not as runny) However now I have fussy kittens =( I also have been giving them some pediatric electrolyte in between feeding when they get fussy. They don't like it as well as formula, but they drink it. They seem to need to suck on something and they like our fingers I'm not sure if we should be doing this but it's the only way sometimes to keep them quite. What should we do?

Hello! My boyfriend and I just adopted two AMAZING 7 week old siblings, one male [orange tabby] and one female [gray/black tabby]. Both of us have had pets before; I've mostly had dogs, while he has had both cats and dogs. We are both very excited to be taking this new step as "parents" to these adorable kittens. I just wanted to say hello and that I adore them already!

Btw, we named the boy Link and the girl Hermione :]

As you could probably figure out by my user name, I love carnivores, cats, dogs, and ferrets especially. You may have already seen my profile, but I'll repost some of that info here.

I am studying to be a Veterinary Technician, and am especially interested in carnivore nutrition. That is how I met my good friend who told me about this site, we are both studying at the same school and both feed our pets raw food (in her case her many kitties and in my case just my cat Ty).

I live in Washington State. It is beautiful here, and a great place to go hiking. Last week I went up to Pine & Cedar Lakes and then continued on to Raptor Ridge. Week before that I took the ferry to Lummi Island and hiked up Lummi Peak. Tomorrow I hope to hike Oyster Dome, and hopefully in the next few weeks also hike to Lost Lake and then the Chuckanut Ridge Trail. Have to do it before it starts raining every day!

My friend who told me about this goes by the internet name "Mo", at least on http://parenting-furkids.com/index.php she says she loves it there cause they are all very much into cat nutrition and general cat care. So I don't know if you remember her or not lol, she said she left several months ago.

To sum it up:

-I live in Northwest Washington.
-I love exploring this beautiful country God has created
-My cats name is Ty.
-I want a dog, just can't where I live right now. I'd feed him the same food I feed my cat, in other words got everything planned out, I'm ready when the time comes.
-I love the Man From Snowy River soundtrack.
