Sylvester here. Bobbi Sue, you are very pretty (don't tell Mia I said this). 120, we aren't allowed outside either. It frustrates Mia as she seems to want to jump to the bush to climb down. I know that if she does that Mom will freak out and never let us out ever again. Our mom lets us out onto the balcony but only when she is home. The only thing we can get close to is flying bugs. They are small but tasty. I see some birds in the bush nearby but all I can do is chatter at them asking them to come closer to play. Unfortunately they tell me they are busy and do not want to play with us. I did get outside once when my Mom's soon to be ex-husband left the door unlatched and I managed to push it opened. I had a grand time wandering all over for about seven hours until I got hungry and decided to come home. Mom was both glad and angry at me. Sheesh, I did come home after all.

Tessie here, we aren't allowed outside either. we all kind of want to go out but it does seem scarey out there. One time when Mom was gone for the holidays we caught a mouse in the house. Mom came walking in the door just as I was laying it under the Christmas tree in preparation of a feast. She freaked. Now this mouse was dead but it seems she has an unreasonable phobia about mice dead or alive. She scared us. Then she got a box and covered it, weighted it down and called brother in love for help. He thinks she is funny but she doesn't care as long as he takes care of mice problems. We were not amused that was to be our supper. Humans are a strange lot there is no qestion about that.

Hi 120 - You're the orange version of my brother Jiggs, right? Long hair? Anyway, I'm Shaddo, and I'm instructing my Mom to write for me. She does whatever I tell her to do; she feels sorry for me because I'm old. The great thing about being old? 17 years worth of stories of course! When I was young, I loved catching moles and putting them on the back steps. There were so many homeless kitties in my neighborhood back then I was afraid that if I didn't bring my humans things, they would not let me in or feed me anymore. Jiggs and I teamed up once to bat a mouse out of the attic and we left it right inside the back door so daddy would see it when he got home. Mom was happy about that one! Oh and she was happy when I caught a chipmunk in the bathroom too; she was in there, freaking out and telling me to get it (just shut up and let me handle it, ma!). Humans are so weird! Once I brought a mouse in so I could play with it inside. Mom and Dad went nuts! Aww, I was just playing! She yelled something about keeping indoor toys inside and outdoor toys outside, blah, blah, blah. I had to keep them in line, though, and brought a bird inside and let it fly around the house while my humans frantickly opened doors and windows to let it out! That was so funny to watch; if I was drinking, milk would have come out my nose!
I learned my lesson about birds though. Once I caught a daddy Robin - what a catch; he was so big and brightly colored! Then, I found a baby Robin and tackled that too. However, that whole summer I was afraid to go outside because momma Robin yelled at me constantly and swooped down at me. She was so fast I couldn't catch her.
I wish I could give you some advice, 120, but humans are just so complicated. They're always going places and doing things instead of taking naps and looking out windows and sniffing stuff. I guess just try to live with them as best you can because us cats are so freekin' cute they forget when we're bad. Take it from me, though, and stick with mice, because for some reason they like them as gifts best.
Good luck to you.
With purrs and regards,
Shaddo

120 - This is Huddy, my mama was reading your mama's story yesterday and laughing so loudly I had to leave the room. I don't understand humans either, I think they just get jealous because we as cats are more easily amused than they are. Last night I caught a perfectly good juicy spider and my mama shrieked at me and shooed me away. Then she caught the spider and took it outside. What's up with that????
Much love,

120, Gracie here. My mom likes it when we catch the hoppy things that come in the cat door in the fall and the fluttery flying things that come in. She calls them interactive cat toys. Thierry, Emma and I aren't allowed outside but I think I could catch those birds and squirrels if I had a chance. Thierry would be too scared! Emma used to be an outside cat, before Mom got her and brought her home, she always brags about the mice and birdies she caught, but says her catfood tastes better than birds any day and no work is involved. Next time catch a bird when your mama isn't looking!

120 your not alone...since mom has been letting me play in the backyard, I have captured about 10 tasty treats my mom calls lizards. Everytime I get one before I really get a good taste, mommy takes it away and lets it escape under the fence...this just isn't fair..but at least my mommy doesn't bring them inside to live...I'm sorry, your mom can be mean just like mine..

Dear 120,

Why chase them at all? Outside is for snoozing in the sun and going litterbox. If you want a snack, all you have to do is rub against your people's legs and purr loudly, then walk back and forth between the food dish and the big tub of food that they so rudely keep a lid on.

Honestly, kittyfriend, you work too hard!

LOL, CW!!!!!! I read this out loud to my husband, who was in hysterics! He had me print it out to send to his 99 year old mother. She already thinks that I have completely lost it because I sent a print out of Spice's birthday party. But I hope that it will make her laugh and distract her from the constant complaints at "the home". Heaven knows she already thinks that her only son married a heathen. And all because I like Country music. So, I might as well seal the deal. Your note is too funny - thank you for such a wonderful laugh to end my day!

120 - This is Dara. My advice is give up on the flying snacks and try to find the ones that stay still - eg unattended cat biscuit bags. But be careful - don't get your head stuck. It does nothing for one's dignity. I have been bringing in lovely mice for my humans to see but they take them away, put them in the trash and tell me off for being a cat! If they wanted a dog they should have got one of those stupid animals!

120 my grandmas furr baby Dan has some similar stories about his human. Though he likes to catch them and bring them in to make her scream and get up set. One time he caught a chick and kept it all warm like a kitten till she got home and then looked at her and at the chick and swatted it. He loves doing things to get a rise outta her. I prefer making my mom let me under the covers in the mornings.

Hi all, Shadz here. You should meet my Mum, if I let a mouse go inside the house she hunts it down, catches it with her paws and gives it back to me and then sends me outside telling me to 'eat it up'. She does go really nuts if I catch a bird or a lizardy thingy. I'm pretty safe with mice so that's what I catch now, just to see her mouth turn up at the corners (she's not snarling). I tried out those really big mice but she didn't like those and made loud squeaking sounds that hurt my ears so I won't catch them again.

Hey 120, MacKenzie here. My mom is the same way. When a lizzard, especially one of those green ones like on the TV commercials for that car insurance company gets into the house, or climbs a window screen, she won't let me or my sister near it. She keeps repeating, "lizzard lips, lizzard lips, I won't kiss a cat who has lizzard lips," whatever THAT means. We're merely trying to keep the "riff raff" out of the neighborhood. Guess our humans will never appreciate our hunting skills..... but we gotta love 'em anyway!

My mom left the computer so I thought I'd quickly tell you all the terrible thing she did to me today. I was out sitting on the porch and saw a birdie fly right onto the screened porch through the ripped screen on the door. I know that birds are not very bright, so I watched for awhile as the bird threw itself against the screen instead of going back the way it came. When it dropped to the floor, I jumped through the air and caught it! I had the little snack morsel in my mouth when I heard my mom SCREAMING at the top of her lungs! She ran through the door and scared me so badly I almost dropped my snack, but I held on and ran from her as she screamed like a lunatic! I am much faster than her (and she was slowed down by wearing slippers) so I had made it through the side porch, turned onto the front porch, took the stairs two at a time and was down the walkway and almost to the driveway when something flew through the air and hit me on the head! It knocked my snack right out of my mouth, and I was so shocked at her behavior that I left it there and ran into the woods. Then she picked up the snack and brought it into the house. I thought she was going to eat it herself, which would have been bad enough, but she wiped out all of my skill and hard work by reviving the morsel and giving it food and water. Get this!? It is sleeping in her room with it's head tucked under it's wing! She had taken it outside and when she saw it couldn't fly well, brought it back in to spend some more time recovering! If she had let it go I might have forgiven her, since I could have caught it again easily. I just don't get humans! Can some cat out there explain my human's behavior? What should I do to train her better?
Sincerely,120
