literally not even kidding when a new book comes out i finish it in a day.
the bluestars prophecy and firestars prophecy one took me 2 days cuz it was so long though.
anyone who loves cats HAS to read these. start from Into The Wild in the first series because one the first series is the most exciting and the best, and two its a bit confusing and not as enjoyable if you start in a random book or start at a random series. (there are three seperate series/installments) my favorite of all time is firestars quest and rising storm
here is the order of the books

series/installment 1 Warriors
Into the Wild
Fire and Ice
Forest of Secrets
Rising Storm
Dangerous Path
Darkest Hour

series/installment 2 Warriors: The New Prophecy
Midnight
Moonrise
Dawn
Starlight
Twilight
Sunset

Series/installment 3 Warriors: The Power of Three
The Sight
Dark River
Outcast
Eclipse
Long Shadows
Sunrise

new series, first book isnt out yet Omen of the Stars:
1st book, soon to be released: The 4th Apprentice

guide books:
Cats of The Clans
Code of The Clans
soon to be released in may 2010, Battles of The Clans

Super Editions:
Firestar's Quest
Bluestar's Prophecy

There are also a few small manga series, i dont read them. they are like side stories in the books but in like japanese cartoons with a bit of dialouge. I dont like them much

I LOVE the warriors series. I have been reading them since they started and I get each book the day it comes out. I reread the 1st series over 3 times and the second one twice. the power of three i didnt reread. I like the special edition books on firestar and bluestar. and the clan and code guides. I dont read the manga. does anyone know when the 1st book for the newest series comes out. what is it called? the last apprentice? i think thats it. i cant wait till it comes out.
although i feel like the books have gotten less exciting. there is alot of filler. the first series was full of action and the second series a bit less and the third a bit less. But because I love cats so much I love the books and cant put them down all the same!

Thanks FF50! That was a great link, and I think I'll stick with Wellness and Innova. I just bought some Innova today, and of course 4 of my cats LOVE it, while Charlie sniffed it and walked away... Maybe because he wants more Tuna? lol I don't know. Thanks again, you've been extremely helpful!

Tuna can be bad for cats if they have to much because it has to much vitaman E (don't know if it is for sure that). is it wet or dry? fish is okay for female cats also but harmful for males.

if you read what is written in the link it is really helpful. i don't have much time to write a bigger reply right now.

Thanks FuryFriend! I found a site that sells Innova at a decent price, but I'll be adding $20 for shipping, but even still I can get 12 days worth of Innova for only $10 more than I pay for 12 days worth of Wellness. (My last reciept shows the cost for 36 cans of wellness)

I have one more question though, and I might just google it later, but I'd rather hear real people's thoughts... Is it okay to feed tuna/fish every day?
Solid Gold is solid Tuna, and all of my cats love it, but I don't know if I should be giving it to the every day for one of their meals.

Nutro cat food recall - I just saw this on another website and wanted to give a heads up to anyone who may be using it. Not sure if this is the right place, but it is the dry food.

From the FDA -
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Franklin, Tennessee (May 21, 2009) -- Today, Nutro Products announced a voluntary recall of select varieties of NUTRO® NATURAL CHOICE® COMPLETE CARE® Dry Cat Foods and NUTRO® MAX® Cat Dry Foods with “Best If Used By Dates” between May 12, 2010 and August 22, 2010. The cat food is being voluntarily recalled in the United States and ten additional countries. This recall is due to incorrect levels of zinc and potassium in our finished product resulting from a production error by a US-based premix supplier.

Two mineral premixes were affected. One premix contained excessive levels of zinc and under-supplemented potassium. The second premix under-supplemented potassium. Both zinc and potassium are essential nutrients for cats and are added as nutritional supplements to NUTRO® dry cat food.

This issue was identified during an audit of our documentation from the supplier. An extensive review confirmed that only these two premixes were affected. This recall does not affect any NUTRO® dog food products, wet dog or cat food, or dog and cat treats.

Affected product was distributed to retail customers in all 50 states, as well as to customers in Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Israel. We are working with all of our distributors and retail customers, in both the US and internationally, to ensure that the recalled products are not on store shelves. These products should not be sold or distributed further.

Consumers who have purchased affected product should immediately discontinue feeding the product to their cats, and switch to another product with a balanced nutritional profile. While we have received no consumer complaints related to this issue, cat owners should monitor their cat for symptoms, including a reduction in appetite or refusal of food, weight loss, vomiting or diarrhea. If your cat is experiencing health issues or is pregnant, please contact your veterinarian.

Consumers who have purchased product affected by this voluntary recall should return it to their retailer for a full refund or exchange for another NUTRO® dry cat food product. Cat owners who have questions about the recall should call 1-800-833-5330 between the hours 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST, or visit www.nutroproducts.com.

And here is a link to Nutro's website and statement -
http://www.nutroproducts.com/press-recall/affected-Products.html

the innova looks good to me too. i wonder about the dried egg whites because uncooked egg whites can aren't good for cats but i think that if they are dried that must mean that they were cooked so they should be good.

i think Carrageenan would be the one to avoid over the fruits/veggies. carrageenan is harmful to cats but fruits/veggies they just can't digest...i think that fruits/veggies are better since they are at least not harmful.

innova is better than most brands that will put both fruits/veggies and carrageenan in their foods.

in wet food it is probably easier to digest the veggies. dry food is harder to digest anyway overall, and since in wet the veggies at least have a high water content it is better.

Alright, Petsmart's site's a bust since they don't carry anything I'd buy...

I don't care who answers these questions, but from looking over the different ingredients of Innova and EVO, I've found one or two with NO carrageenan, but they have cranberries, and other fruits and veggies... I found some with carrageenan, but less fruits and veggies...
What's better to avoid, Fruits/Veggies OR Carrageenan??

Here're two flavors of Innova that don't appear to have Carrageenan, would you say they're good? They look okay to me, and if I can find an online store at a decent price, Innova may join the family!

Chicken and Brown Rice Stew Ingredients:
Chicken, Chicken Broth, Turkey Broth, Dried Egg Whites, Potato Starch, Brown Rice, Carrots, Apples, Oat Fiber, Natural Flavors, Guar Gum, Whole Eggs, Sodium Phosphate, Herring Oil, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate, Salt, Dl Methionine, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Potassium Chloride, Butter, Tricalcium Phosphate, Vitamins and Minerals

Beef, Beef Broth, Lamb Broth, Dried Egg Whites, Potato Starch, Barley, Peas, Cranberries, oat Fiber, Whole Eggs, Natural Flavors, Guar Gum, Calcium Carbonate, Herring Oil, Sodium Phosphate, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate, DL Methionine, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Sunflower Oil, Butter, Salt, Vitamins and Minerals

Thanks a lot Furry!! I exchanged some Wellness that my cats decided they no longer enjoyed looking at from Pet Supplies, and before I left I took a list of wet foods to look for... they only had Solid Gold (it may be the other way around) and it's tuna... I'm thinking my cats wont like it since they haven't enjoyed past fish food, but I bought two just in case. I didn't see GO! Natural, Innova, or Felidae. I'm about to check out Petsmart's website... it's just so far away from my house, that it would be a pain to have to drive there for my cat food... maybe they have shipping deals... hehe well I'm just saying thank you for all of your information!

I agree AV - FF50 has been a wealth of information!

I'll be switching my girls away from Iams here shortly. I am finishing up an 8 lb bag. I'll be switching to either Orijen or Indigo Moon. I set out a separate bowl for testing the samples. They went for both of those equally enthusiatically... as though I had put treats in the bowl ! The EVO and I forget the other one, I'm thinking it was Innovation or something like that. - not so much

... actually looking at the bag, it is the dry Wellness Core.... Abby is a kibble addict, I have tried until I've pulled my hair out to get her to eat wet, but she absolutely won't touch it!.....

.....I purchased the Wellness Core at Petco..... I can't remember if PetSmart here had it too, I know they had the Blue Wilderness there..... I was in PetSmart one day looking, trying to remember your post, so I went home and printed the list, but then went to PetCo. because it was closer to where I live.... I just assumed they would both sell most of the same brands.....

again, thank you for the education!..... up until now, I had only bought pet food at the Publix..... I feel much better now, knowing Abby is eating better....

This post has been so helpful to me, I finally have Abby on Wellness, and she likes it......I couldn't find some of the best brands on your list, but I can be the Wellnes at the local PetCo & PetSmart.... I like the fact that it's first ingredients are real meats/fish...... Thanks again,"

they have wellness at petsmart? the best they have here is the blue wilderness anymore. now i only get the friskies wet from there which is in addition to the raw and dry that mine get. petco seems to have more decent foods than petsmart for some reason but their friskies wet is more expensive.

both wet and dry wellness CORE are better than regular wellness. the CORE fits more into the top five dry foods than the regular wellness which is farther down the list. so yes core is better than regular wellness :)

the regular wellness wet food they put lots of veggies/fruit in which may be good for people but it isn't good for cats. also since chicken liver is the second ingrediant it could end up being to much liver. I know for raw that liver/other organs should be only 5% of the food, and i think that the wellness would be higher than that for sure then.

wellness is getting really expensive though and if you can get EVO wet it is cheaper and better (especially the 95% meat ones). wet food btw you can rotate flavors/brands all the time and cats don't have a problem with that. it is dry food that you have to switch much slower.

I just read through your thread FurryFriend, and WOW, you're awesome!
I've tried several different cat foods for my boys, and we've stopped with Chicken Soup and Wellness Core (Not sure if the Core's the same "quality" as the wellness from your link).

Wellness Core:
Deboned Turkey, Deboned Chicken, Chicken Meal, Whitefish Meal, Potatoes, Salmon Meal, Natural Chicken Flavor. Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols, a natural source of Vitamin E), Tomato Pomace, Cranberries, Chicory Root Extract, Salmon Oil, Flaxseed, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Thiamine Mononitrate, Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Beta-Carotene, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B-12 Supplement), Choline Chloride, Minerals (Zinc Proteinate, Zinc Sulfate, Iron Proteinate, Ferrous Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Manganese Sulfate, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), Yucca Schidigera Extract, Dried Kelp, Taurine, Lactobacillus Plantarum, Enterococcus Faecium, Lactobacillus Casei, Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Rosemary Extract.

I feed Wellness Wet food, but haven't tried the wet Core, since it's 20 cents more a can, and I already spend $20 a week on just the wet cat food.

Should I invest in Wellness CORE Wet Food?? The ingredients are:
Chicken, Turkey, Chicken Broth, Chicken Liver, Chicken Meal, Turkey Liver, Dried Ground Potatoes, Natural Chicken Flavor, Guar Gum, Carrageenan, Cranberries, Ground Flaxseed, Salmon Oil, Taurine, Dried Kelp, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Chicory Root Extract, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Vitamin E Supplement, Choline Chloride, Cobalt Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Niacin, Sodium Selenite, d-Calcium Panthothenate, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Biotin.

Regular Turkey Wellness Ingredients:
Turkey, Chicken Liver, Chicken, Chicken Broth, Carrots, Natural Chicken Flavor, Sweet Potatoes, Squash, Zucchini, Cranberries, Blueberries, Guar Gum, Carrageenan, Ground Flaxseed, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Taurine, Iron Proteinate (a source of Chelated Iron), Beta-Carotene, Zinc Proteinate (a source of Chelated Zinc), Vitamin E Supplement, Choline Chloride, Cobalt Proteinate (a source of Chelated Cobalt), Thiamine Mononitrate, Copper Proteinate (a source of Chelated Copper), Folic Acid, Manganese Proteinate (a source of Chelated Manganese), Niacin, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Sodium Selenite, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Biotin.

i don't know if there is a good wet w/o carrageneen that exists...at least i can't find any. you don't want any by-products either because technically it could then be cat which is just gross.

felidae: 15 and 16 ingrediants rosemary and carrageneen
innova: 12th ingrediant carrageneen/veggies
Go! Natural: 18th ingrediant carrageneen/veggies
Solid Gold: 14th ingrediant carrageneen
