Funny Emma. Deuter Bug just found catnip. I forgot I had it because it was put away to hid it from Teaser the great nip addict. He opened a cupboard and had the bag out on the kitchen counter. We heard a lot of commotion and the daughter went to check to see what was happening. He had ripped open the bag and was spreading it everywhere and rolling through it. He made a mess but he had so much fun.

I have one large container of potted catnip out on my patio, and Rotley and Ruggles love the fresh stuff.

However, the reactions are always different for each lad:

Rotley will eat it, strike a few jazz poses, warble a couple of show tunes, run through the house, and then settle down.

Ruggles' reaction is a bit different. He will push the catnip with the top of his head, do a slow forward somersault, and fall asleep lying on his back. He wakes up about 6 hours later. I think the 60's must have been the best time for that cat.

Ruggles is also the only cat who can roll up and down stairs, with the help of his very long claws. If you talk lovingly to him when he is on the stairs, he goes wild with joy and tumbles up and down the carpeted stairs using his claws and lying on his back, chirping and trilling.

Thank heavens I have no wooden stairs!

I wonder if this a tuxxie thing because Sylvester trills as well and only lets out a partial meow when he is in the car on the way to the vet. Mia trills too if I touch her and she doesn't want to be touched (but will meow other times especially in the car on the way to the vet).

Willow and Sally are two peas in a pod. The sound of the thru-the-door ice dispenser is much more alluring than even the can opener! Her Royal Heinie MUST have exactly TWO ice cubes in her water dish--no less, no more. Two shall be the number, and the number shall be two.

Willow is a stealer of ice cubes! We have tried to rehabilitate her without success :-( If she hears ice in the sink, she comes running, jumps up on the kitchen counter, runs to the sink and grabs an ice cube in her little mouth. Then she takes off with it and goes all over the house. I found the remnants of an ice cube under our bed once!

Odd kitty behavior? Take your pick.........

My Katie (RIP), whenever anyone new would come to my home, she would follow you around everywhere, hissing and growling for three days. Not two days, not four days, exactly three days. On the fourth day she would then deem you worthy and would cuddle up and love you. If you left for awhile and came back, the whole process would begin again. As a matter of fact the night she died as I was tring to console my son, I told him that I could just picture the sceen. Katie would approach God on his throne and he would welcome her and her response would be to hiss and growl at HIM for three days. Then I told my son that if this bothered God in anyway, he could always send her back to us!!

My Mini (RIP) was a sock bandit. She would take socks from wherever she could and carry them around like they were her babies. Every month or so I would have to go on a sock hunt to find her "new" hiding place and retrieve all of our socks. Then she would start again with a another "new" hiding place.

My Cheeper (RIP) was originally named Crystal but the name Cheeper stuck as she cheeped like a bird instead of a meow.

My Snowman (RIP) was an attention hog. He could come and sit by you and try to get your attention. If he didn't get it he would lick you three times. If you STILL ignored him he would nip you. THAT always got your attention!

My Amy gets so excited when she is getting attention that she will flopp down and start sucking her own back toes as if she were nursing.

My Rusty is a flopper and a violent head bonker. He just can't get enough of rubbing his face all over you.

My Sammie is a slut (said affectionatly of course) She loves everyone (people that is) and will go to anyone for lots of attention. She hates cats so that is a problem in a house with 7 of them.

My Angela is a licker. Anytime anyone pets her, she must lick whatever is in front of her ie. Furniture, clothing, people, rugs, curtains......I think you get the picture.

My Milo is a fetch hog. He loves to play fetch for hours on end but won't let Amy or Megan (the only others that play fetch in my house)play and chases them away.

My Megan is an acrobat. When Milo lets her play fetch, she will leap into the air (at least 5-6 feet!) to catch whatever is thrown and do sommersaults to the ground.

My Pricilla is my mighty hunter. She is the only one that goes outside (not that I WANT her too) and brings my lots of presents that I must say I REALLY don't want but it is afterall done with love.

Odd behavior, maybe but for my zoo crew odd is par for the course and I wouldn't have it any other way!

As my mom mentioned earlier, Sally Semi-Meezer will sleep after 5 min. in my Death Grip. But I don't think she has mentioned the dreaded White Sock.Pretty much, white socks are to Sally as a red cape is to a bull.

As a kitten, Sally would love to attack my feet when I was eating. I kept on telling my parents about it, but they thought it was because I would move my feet all the time at dinner. Then, on a Saturday morning, my grandparents came over for breakfast. When my grandma started complaining that Sally was attacking her feet. My parents knew that Grandma wasn't moving her legs, so they wondered if it was her socks. My dad threw a white sock at her, and she jumped up, hissed, and attacked.

Another time, Sally got addicted to catnip. Whenever we hid it, she would find it, even if we put it on the roof(We never did that, though)! So my dad came up with an idea. He got one of my white socks that didn't match with the others, and put the catnip bag in there. Sally wanted the catnip, but the Evil White Sock "eated" it! What was the Sally's solution? ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!

Baby Sally Semi-Meezer is the most fastidious cat I've ever known--for cats, that's saying quite a bit. She seems to know just how far she can push the grooming without descending into neurosis. She's just so cuddly you have to love on her, and she enjoys it, but as soon as you're done, it's as if she has to lick the "hooman cooties" off of her.

Also, "Bear" takes her to bed with him. He holds her in what seems to be a death grip, but it comforts them both--she purrs, he drops off to sleep quickly. One night last week, Bear was so tired that he went to bed without Sally. I had turned off the lights and went into the kitchen for something I had forgotten. When I turned on the light, there was the forgotten Semi-Meezer, sitting up and staring at me with the most folorn expression on her face. I got what I wanted, scooped her up, and carried her to my bed. She stiffened at first and I thought she was going to bolt, but as soon as I hooked my arm around her abdomen, she began a throbby purr and relaxed into feline slumber. I wasn't far behind her.

I have a slip cover on a love seat in the living room... she starts by sticking her nose under the cover at floor level and before you know it, she is lying on the love seat, under the slip cover. And she'll stay there for a long time !

This is for BoogerMercurysMama, my Oliver, a tuxie, chirps too, never meows. But he does have this hi-pitched whine that goes right through me! If he can't find Sammy he goes WHINING!!!! He also loves shoes and gets his head right in there, anybody's shoes. He is a flopper too. He is the most playful cat I have ever had and will amuse himself for a long time, in cat time that is.

Sammy, he prefers drinking out of a glass to his bowl, but it has to be in the bathroom! Niether one likes to be held but they always have to have you near. They both wait patiently for us to go to bed, then they come in and settle down for the night.

Shaddo would lay on a counter with his head draped over the side, looking like his head broke off. No wonder he was dizzy when he woke up - this drove us crazy!
Jiggs was "Mr. Water Source". He would go outside and check all the places, including the tarp covering the wood pile, for water. And yes, he had plenty of water dishes both inside and outside.
So far, everything Leela does is typical crazy kitten stuff, so we'll see. To be continued...

Well I'm sure you have all heard it before...but I have this kitty we named after a famous pirate, Blackbeard. He takes his name quite seriously..if I sat my purse down and have not completely closed it (zipped or snapped) he will first approach and stick his head all the way into the bag looking, then go the front paws for digging. What is he digging for??? MONEY...if he can find a loose dollar bill or pry one loose, he grabs it with his teeth and runs..Some have been recovered, others never have...

Paulajeanne, try mixing gravy from wet food or tuna water in with the water for Molly to make her water more appealing to her. If you're worried she's getting dehydrated from not drinking enough, use plain pedialyte instead of water. It worked when Milo wouldn't drink.

I'm on a fudgesicle kick right now, and Bobby is very interested. I haven't let him do anything but sniff since chocolate is supposedly really bad for cats. Does this go for fudgesicles as well?

One more odd thing about Bobby: he still doesn't purr! :( He only ever purrs while he's sucking on his blankie, but that's it! I can pet him and cuddle him, give him catnip etc. and make him really happy and content, but he won't purr.

Total CJ weirdness...every single time she hears me "tinkle", she comes running to the bathroom, full tilt, and headbonks my hands. She comes thru the door running, then she takes this little running leap at the last second (just like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer in that old Christmas cartoon) and her two front feet leave the ground. She bonks my hands and runs away. She started this when she was about 12 weeks old.

The first time she went with me to visit my mom, and heard my mom in the bathroom, she took off and went running...when she saw it wasn't me, mom said her wide eyes got even wide-er...she hit the brakes and went skidding across the floor, trying to stop. I didn't witness this, but that was the moment her "grandmother" fell totally in love with her.

Every time I lay down to watch tv,Hannah comes running to lay along my side. If I have a sleeveless top on,she instantly sticks her nose into my armpit & nuzzles it. Her whiskers immediately tickle me,but, she keeps wanting to do it. I have no idea why she's so weird that way.

As soon as I lay down to sleep,Winnie jumps up & finds one of my eyes & insists on licking it. I think she must've been weined too soon when she was tiny. Also weird.

These crack me up! They really all have their little habits, don't they. Molly got me really worried last night. She woke me at about 3 am and was very unhappy at being apparently constipated. She would scratch and scratch in the litter box and try to go. Jump on my lap and yowl and yowl. I would rub her tummy. Finally about 6 she went a little bit. When I left for school, I warned her that if she hadn't gone by the time I got home, we were off to the V-E-T. That must have scared her, because I came home to a box full of poop! She doesn't drink enough water, I know. Any suggestions? I've tried tap, running, cold, distilled, bottled, etc. She just hardly ever touches it.

Spanky was a quacker! Instead of meowing, he would make these "quack, quack" sounds. I would quack back at him and we would 'converse' back and forth forever! He also had a fondness for chocolate covered coconut popsicles. I'd eat the chocolate off of them and he'd lick so hard that you could actually see the coconut flying off of them. He'd also run to the kitchen every time I opened the freezer door---just hoping that he'd get one!

The way my cats sleep -- this is the ultimate feline Odd Couple:

Rotley, a graceful and sinuous Bombay, coils into a black satin swirl with his head tucked down and his long tail curling around this body. Silent and silken.

Ruggles falls asleep on his back, head half off the bed, tummy fur blowing softly because of the fan above my bed. Snoring. Belching. Passing gas.

If they were human, guess which one would have a bomber jacked and which would wear a bowling shirt?

Indie-Splashes in his water bowl and cries when it is empty. Refill water and starts again.

Scout-This little boy will scare himself. Sits perfectly still then switches his tail and hits is side and usually jumps about 3 feet straight up. Does this at least 2 to 3 times a day.

Jonzie(RIP)-He loved wintergreen lifesavers and would eat them if allowed. He also had a thing for Icy-Hot for muscle aches. Guess he just had a mint hang up.
