Oh boy....flagyl in the mouth and water up the butt! LOL. These kittens will think that I've completely lost my mind, but in the end (no pun intended) it should all work outo okay! When I'm snuggling with them (safely locked behind closed doors away from my 22 year old cat, Scout, and Bear (see my profile pix) my amazing and patient 16 year old aussie/sheltie), and when they look up at me and softly place their little paws against my cheek and purr...it all seems pretty much worth the effort!!</p> <p>In reading the links, it seems as though I should be stepping up the litterbox and area cleaning. Currently I vaccum the room every day, scoop the litter several times a day and then full replacement of the litter twice a week for the kittens. I wash hands after every interaction and never use the same food bowl twice (so lots of dish washing and scrubbing).</p> <p>Thanks again for the links and advice!! When I adopted him, they indicated that he was a healthy, happy, 9 week old kitten. Just the thing to be a forever pal for my first kitten, Oso. When I got him home, we discovered that he was not as healthy as first represented. Not only did he have URI (which I realize is a very common thing in some shelters) but he also had ear mites (surprised that the shelter staff couldn't even find the 5 seconds in their day to look in his ears, as that is all it took me to make that determination). Lastly, we discovered, after a severe bout of diarrhea and no eating, that this poor little one has giardia (which Oso also now has and both comfirmed by the presence of cysts).</p> <p>My question is this...is there a soft, comforting way to clean his little poop shoot? He is so frustrated trying to lick it clean some mornings that I fear it will be raw and red resulting in some pretty bad discomfort and the potential for infection. I don't want to use just any cleaner and I am hoping for some ideas to will let me keep him clean and soothed. It was really interesting &amp; I wish we'd had more time, but the Society's only free for 2 hours on Friday nights and by the time I can get there we only have an hour.
