Sorry to hear this, leave smelly food out back(only if it won't attract raccoons and such) and like Joan said, leave out some of your clothes you have worn. I have found it more fruitful to search for lost cats at night with a flashlight. Walk slowly around call them frequently, realize he might even be afraid of you t first. It might be a good idea to borrow a humane trap from humane soc. Call Animal Control daily, they don't hold cats they catch for long. Good luck!

I am sorry to hear Mowgli got out, but very hopeful for his return home to you. Be persistent and get outside and call him as much as you can. Since he knows the sound of your voice he will respond to you if he's within earshot. Leave something by the door/food that smells like you, a sweatshirt, etc.
Sending good vibes your way.

My Tansey got out the night before we were going to leave on a two-week vacation out of state. She slipped out while I was packing. We were frantic... finally, at 6am, hubs opened the front door to go out looking for her -again-, and there she was..wet and dewy and frightened.

He had walked the streets between 2 and 3 am calling for her!

You're doing all the right things to make Mowgli feel he's got a home to come to. Keep a positive outlook, keep calling, keep putting out food, and maybe a box with an item in it that smells like you (sweater) so he knows he's wanted by YOU.

We've had cats that chose to stay out all night, or all day, but they always come in eventually. One cat dissapeared for two weeks, we thought sure she was gone forever and then one afternoon she wandered back into the yard. Skinny, thirsty and hungry. She never told us where she had been and she never wandered again.

Call frequently for Mowgli, and ask the Angels (particularly Arch Angel Michael and Angel Hayyel, protector of animals) to bring him home now. Everytime one of mine is missing and I want them to come because I am worried I ask for angelic help and they are usually home right away. All I know is it works.

It is nearly certain that even though he may have not been outside that area before, he will come back. Cats are amazing at finding their way home, and they can always sniff it out. He is out exploring. It could help you going out there and calling for him every once in a while, but he is out on a hunt right now and will be back whenever he feels like. My own kitty has ran away 3 or so times in her 16 years and sometimes its a few days sometimes its been a week or more, but she comes home.

Try to remain positive. I know this may not help but sometimes it takes a while for kitties to find there way home. Kitties are meant to survive outside so I think Mowgli will do well out there. Just hope he gets picked up and they scan him. I had a friend whose cat was gone over two weeks when she got a call that the Animal Control people had picked him up. They had their eye on him over a week but he was quick and kept getting away from them. I will certainly say a prayer for both you AND Mowgli. Please keep us updated.

This is a kitty that had been abused before you got him, right? Given that history I'd guess he'd run away from people and streets and toward fields and mountains. Keep calling him, especially in the field. Is there a place to leave some kibble out for him? Can he get in if he comes back when you aren't watching?

I have no personal experience of this. I do know they say a lost pet can be found within a 2km radius from the point where they went missing within about 24 hours or so. I've added tags for you in the top corner.

I'm thinking if your kitty has never been outside before, he's probably overwhelmed and scared and hiding somewhere. Keep calling him, and wait and just listen after you called for any noise. You will probably have better luck at night when things are more quiet. Get down on your knees, on cat level, and see if there are any places he can hide. He could be in a shrub or a tree or under a car . . .

Sorry to hear that Mowgli is missing :( He probably didn't *run* away, more than likely he went out the door and just doesn't know how to find his way back. Others will have more ideas on how to find your missing little one, I know there are more websites with suggestions than this one but look at this link too. Also might want to put out a piece of clothing with your scent on it by both your front and back doors.

So my baby Mowgli ran away last night. I guess someone left the backdoor open and during the night he left. He hasn't been outside without my supervision and I dnt know if he will be able to find his way home. It has almost been 24 hrs since he left. He doesn't have his collar on, but he has been micro-chipped. Does anybody have words of advice or comfort?
