Its almost 10 pm AZ time and there is no night shift, really???? All the kittehs are snoozing from the Cafe, the room is hmmmmm in a bit of a mess, not much just a bit. Since I have to get ready for 'that place' right about now, the lights are lowered a titch and the music has been turned on to soothe those kittehs not quite asleep yet. Be back probably after the witching hour, ta ta for now.

Al-Alon was started as a way for families of alcoholics to cope, but the basic meetings work for a variety of other problems.

They will also be able to direct you to other resources you may not have found yet.

But you have to listen to what is said and follow the advice given. If you follow the program faithfully, it will be of benefit to you and both your sons.

Chey, I am so sorry. {{{{Chey}}} If I were your step-mom and I read what you've said here, about wanting her to stay your mum, being able to talk to her about anything, and wanting her in your life for always, well, then you would never EVER be able to get rid of me. You just have to tell her exactly what you told us and I bet you'll be as close as ever, maybe closer, because she might well need a friend to lean on now too.

Everyone else has such good advice, I will only say again, tell her what is in your heart, the way you've told us. {{{Chey}}} I hope things work out for you and your mum, even though this is such a difficult thing to go through. I bet CBM is right, I bet she is as worried about losing you as you are about losing her. Like you said, you're family.

She is divorcing your dad, not you. I bet right now she is as anxious as you are that she may lose you.

If your dad says anything about your staying friendly with your step mom, you just need to remind him that your continuing relationship with your step mom doesn't diminish your relationship with him. Tell him you need a loving female in your life and that the good qualities that attracted him to your step mom to start with are still there. They may not be able to live together, but that doesn't mean you have to cut her out of your life.

Just got a call from my Sweetie, Elektra just came back from her first adoption day event since she came to us. One of the women who runs the feral org. that saved her picked her up on Friday night on her way home from work, took her to the Saturday event and then to the vet before bringing her home now. She is so happy to have "her kitty" home.

Sweetie doesn't drive, we are both disabled. Getting her to and from the adoption days every week was looking to become a problem, but next week is taken care of - the feral woman will pick her up and I'll bring her back at the end of the day.

The vet agreed with my sweetie that Elektra was underweight so now she has new wet food to eat twice a day as well as kibble. She also still on antibiotics from her teeth and UTI. That has been a bit of a challenge.

We will probably take Ginger over the weekend after next. I'll get a smelly sweetie and Elektra shirt sometime this week.

DM you will find that the program that Lainey is describing will do a great deal to help you, so that you will be able to have the support you need. The element that they meet in this system normally do not reinforce your postive behaviors--they teach them how to be more destructive to themselves. If at all possible this route can be dangerous to all concerned. I would try as Lainey suggested. Also you may need to remove him from his peer group. Often behavior like this is expected and reinforced by those he may hang around with, maybe a summer with his father and away from peers could help shake him up enough to get on the right track. I realize you and your exhusband as not on good terms, but I am prayerful that he will do something positive for his son before a juvenile criminal record is obtained. As a single Mom you are dealing with a tough situation, and your son is at an age that he is trying to become what he thinks a man should be--peers influence on this is extreme. Please do not beat yourself up. You need support that is near your--like a single parent group or the group that Lainey has suggested. Please, please get the support you need--you are doing an overwhelming job! You are a loving Mom and that makes you the very best kind--please get the support you need. Remember Julie--you are loved!

Yes, Julie, however, I have found, by personal experience and also from many friends, that because, when the program is worked right, the focus is on YOU. And when that happens, you learn HOW to help your loved one. Email me at LaineyLives at aol and I'll talk to you more about it (if you like). I'm going to bed right now, but I'd be happy to talk to you on the phone (I have free long distance) anytime this week or if you really need to talk now let me know via email (I'll check when I'm done folding clothes in a few minutes) and call you. Hang in there! I'm so glad you are reaching out! It is obvious how much you love both your boys and just want to help them through this and still have a life for yourself!

Dear Family,

Things with my oldest son are just getting worse and worse. I allowed him to spend the night with a friend, just to find out that they weren't even there. I asked him what he thought he was up to and of course I got the standard, "Well you don't care" answer.

He is failing most all of his classes a school. Every word out of his mouth is rude, hateful or hurtful. We have done therapy and it just isn't working. The next step I have here is dealing with the juvenile system, and letting him spend some time at a juvenile facility.

Every morning is a battle, every night is also and I just won't even go into what the weekends are like here.

I love my son more than he will ever understand, but I am not sure how much more that I can take anymore.I have no family here that can take him and short of the juvenile system there is sending him to his Father's. I feel like a total failure as his Mom.

I have already taken all of his privileges and extras that he has had. Nothing seems to work. I have been loving and supportive, tried talking with him and all, I have tried the "tough" love and nothing is working.

I need help!

I hope they pay, SM although for the most part the value is sentimental more than monetarily. I am so glad Mom is OK and that her house is. There is a lot of unreplaceable mementos there. They told her to get out now and she left without a coat with her dogs and then didn't know what to do. She was in shock I think. she said there was no time for anything. Losing her home so close to losing Dad would have been a real blow to her.

Her neighbors are idiots! Thank God your mom is OK. The idiots should be made to replace all that was destroyed.

Well, the vet said it would be removed after 10 days, and you said it's day 10, so I think he's OK, whether it fell out on its own or you pulling it out. As long as he's not licking it often and pees without discomfort you can relax. Glad you went for the surgery, he will be a lot more comfortable. {{{HUGS}}}

My Mom lives out in the country with quite a bit of land about her house. The house I grew up in, some sheds, barns etc were about a half an acre away. Some neighbors maybe a half a mile away decided to burn weeds. The fire got away from them and got almost to my Mom's house. The house I grew up burned, the other buildings burned, we don't know what happened to all the trees about them. My Dad's fruit trees burned and they are close to Mom's house. She is quite shook up that she nearly lost her home and that we did lose the places of our memories. I'm really grateful the house didn't burn but heartsick at our other losses. And I grieve for the trees because my Dad planted them and loved them and he would be so upset
