I'm leaving the office soon because today is my and Mr. Leeny's 10th wedding anniversary. He wants us to go out to lunch and dinner today and do something special in between. This is the first time we've actually celebrated an anniversary, and it's very nice.</p> <p>Last night we took David and Paula to dinner at last, at a brand-new IHOP close to their home, and we had a lovely time. I'd have liked to have heard a bit more about how things are going with them since retirement, but they seemed more interested in hearing about us. Mr. Leeny was quite the gracious host, even though he was drowsy from the pain medication he's taking for his teeth (evaluation appt. for that is on Tuesday morning), and I was very proud of him.</p> <p>David gave me a book that he'd bought at the synod assembly last June. It's written by a Herbert Brokering, put out by our denominational publishing house, and is called "More Cat Psalms: Prayers My Cats Have Taught Me." It has 26 "psalms" written in cats' words directed to humans; each is accompanied by a prayer. David wrote an inscription in it:<br /> "To [my real first name], In thanksgiving for the many good years of friendship and ministry we shared together at [church name] Yours, Pastor David</p> <p>Pastor-David. Transitional name, from one to the other. It didn't feel as odd calling him "David" as I thought it would, but I still don't really know how to be his friend without being his parishoner. Now that the "step above" that his position of authority gave him is no longer there, I feel kind of uncertain. Paula told us they'd see us at their daughter's wedding in December "if not before then; maybe before then." I hope so.</p> <p>Now I'm off to find Mr. Leeny a couple of online recipes from the Food Network site and get my map with directions to CW's house!</p> <p>Happy weekend, TDK. </p>
