Sam, I'm so sorry about Cruella. I'm sorry too that you were the one who found her. It hurts a whole lot and it's such a shock, I know.

But that little kitty had the best possible care and the most humungous amount of love from you while she was alive. NNGM's right, so many kitties don't ever get that, she was so lucky to be with you. Imagine what her little short life would have been like if she hadn't been in your loving care, to keep her safe and warm and comfortable and give her medicine and food, when she could take it.

I don't think it would have made much difference if she had been able to see the vet earlier, her symptoms were pretty severe and, unfortunately, many little kittens don't make it, please don't blame yourself.

I am very sad for you but you loved her and you took care of her. Bless you.

Many of us believe that when our pets die, they cross the Rainbow Bridge where they wait for us in perfect health.

If Cruella's not eating, every couple of hours she needs to have some Nutrical (or equivalent) smeared on her gums. Also, Pedialyte is a children's rehydration fluid; it's highly recommended to help keep a kitten hydrated. An eyedropper would be the preferred way to get fluid in.

You might find that a mix of 25% baby meat food (turkey or lamb are good), 25% high-quality canned food, and 50% Pedialyte will work well, if she's not eating at all. Again, an eyedropper is the way to administer the food. Only a few drops at a time, making sure that she can swallow properly. And warm the mix to body temperature; that way, her body doesn't have to spend extra energy to warm the food in her digestive tract prior to digestion.

Keep her warm; keep her hydrated and fed. Keep track of how much you feed (both food & liquid), and keep track of her peeing & pooping. If she's not producing urine or feces, help her out with genital stimulation. (A warm, damp washcloth gently rubbed in a circular direction on her genitals and anus should help do the trick.) Also keep track of her general energy level; how much she's sleeping, vs. how much the other kittens are sleeping.

Cuddle her when she seems to indicate a need for attention, and don't isolate her from her siblings or mama if you don't have to. If she's not sleeping in a lump of kitties, but off by herself, you'll want to keep her warm when she's sleeping.

Good luck! Hope you can get her to the vet soonest!!

Please keep her warm, hydrated, and get her to the vet right away. Her symptoms are very serious; I'm afraid she may not make it if you don't take her in right away. Any time a kitten of her age stops eating, drinking, pooping or peeing it's a bad thing - and the longer they've stopped doing any of these things, the more sick they get and the faster they can die.

Yeah i'm going to try bringing her, and JCat Fluffy has had two litters, the first tme we brought her to the vet, they couldnt spay her bcuz she was pregnant, so that money was spent on the kittens until we could save up again, once we did she got pregnant again... so right now we're trying to keep away from any male cats until we can spay her

Sam, since you're already bringing the dog in for shots, I would definitely take the little one as well...I think you'd be surprised how awfully sympathetic vets can be when they see a pet that needs help...at the very least, they can either delay payment, or set up some kind of installment plan for you..it never hurts to ask...I'll be thinking of you and little Cruella..please keep us posted!

It is, Sam, it's terribly hard. I've been there, with sick little foster kittens and it's horrible. But a lot of things can go wrong with kittens and sometimes even the vets can't help them, so please don't beat yourself up if this little one doesn't make it.

Even if you have to coax her to take the KMR, it's still got much more goodness in it than the pedialyte so if you can still get it down her wee throat, without forcing it, it will be better for her. The pedialyte or gatorade is only if she refuses everything else. There is also a high-protein paste called Nutrical which you could smear a tiny bit of around her mouth or on her gums, but nothing she could choke on, no big lumps or anything. But while she is still taking the KMR, keep on with that, that's much the best.

If you have a mother cat with kittens again, a low-sided (cardboard) box is best, with bedding in it, so that the mum can just step in and out if she needs to but the babies can't fall out. And a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel (but with enough space in the box so they can all crawl off it if it gets too hot) is good for babies without a mother.

The cat in my picture was a little feral kitten when she came to me (she hid under the chest of drawers for two days!), she is called Libby and she is a little tiger -- I love her very much. Your mother's cat, Bubbles, sounds beautiful too -- I love the silver tabbies. Take care!

Thank you for the tip on the Gatorade i'll try that until i can get pedialyte, cuz we have to coax her to take the milk we'll try that, and when i phone the vet for my puppy i'll see if i can make arrangements, i don't care if i have to sell everything in my room to help her i will! I just don't want to see another kitten die! Fluffy was a kitten from her mother's Midnight's litter so we've had Fluffy since she was born,... Midnight died in April and from her 2nd litter it was winter, and we didnt have heat in the house, and she was in dining room with the babies, we kept a heater near by her with many blankets, but we couldnt keep the heater on all night, and one baby over night found its way on the floor and froze to death! I woke up and saw that i bawled my eyes out, its hard to see a kitten die! And wen midnight died i ran out of the house freaking out :( I dont Cruella to die next! its so unfair

Sam, if you don't have a heating pad, another good way to keep her warm is to wrap a towel round a hot water bottle. My feeling is that she sounds very sick and that she should see the vet as soon as possible. I suggest you ring the vet and ask if you can bring her in with the puppy. I am sure if you explain, the vet will let you pay on payday or in instalments. (She may even only charge you for one visit). If the kitten keeps taking the KMR she shouldn't get dehydrated but if she stops eating it, try to give her pedialyte with a syringe (without the needle in) or gatorade if you can't get pedialyte.

Fleas can cause anaemia in tiny kittens, can you see any on her? If so, comb her carefully with a flea comb.

You are wonderful for caring so much about her and there will be other members on later who I'm sure can help you too. You have come to the right place for help and support, as you can tell from all the great advice you've been given above by BC and Azdeb and Renee. Please keep in touch, we will worry about her and you until we hear. Take care!

I hope you are feeding your kittens KMR (Kitten milk replacement) and not regular cow's milk. Cat's and kittens can't digest it and it can make them sick or give them diarrhea. You can get KMR at any Walmart's or pet store. They should be getting interested in eating canned catfood by now. Mine would explore eating wet food at 6 to 8 wks. old.
