I know where you're coming from, Karin. If I could get a full time job with just a couple of benefits, maybe I could even SAVE a little money (in a savings account). And it would be the first time in several years that I'll have had a real full time job. The last one was only 20 hrs. a week, and before that I was a realtor, and that was only work when I had something going, though there was a lot of phone and computer work when I didn't.
Good luck to you, too, Karin. Gotta stick together!

Thank you all for your positive thoughts. Max and Molly's Mom, I hope you get the job! That would be really cool to be able to dress casual. I will say a prayer that you get called for an interview. Good luck. Fingers and toes are crossed.

Interview on Friday was short and sweet. The SVP isn't the type to spend much time. I think he can pretty much size someone up within five minutes of meeting and talking with them. My interview lasted about seven minutes. I was told that was normal when I mentioned how short it was to the receptionist. I hope they want to hire me and that they inform me today. I was told by the SVP that this position is a temp for three months and if all works out well, they have a permanent position at a location that is about 20 minutes closer to my current home.

Karin, how did the interview on Friday go? Anything good to report?
I went out this morning to put in an application for a job which appeared in our paper this weekend, secretarial job for a school system. I could only fill out the application today, but asked the secretary at that office what the job consisted of. She said it was for the transportation dept., which means the buses, etc. She said they would probably call by Weds. for interviews--Yippee!! I hope I get called. The job sounds like it would be pretty casual, and I'd like that-don't have to get really dressed up every day.
Will keep everybody posted.

Wondering if I will still have this temp job as I snuck out at 2pm on Friday to go to a second interview at another company. Have phone interview today with Apple. It is only a phone interview so I won't get excited till they invite me for an in person interview.

Works for me!

The best example in my life was the boss Hubby had in the military. He was a Master Sgt. anxious to become a Senior Master Sgt. (or SMS).

Every 6 mos., when the list came out and his name wasn't on it, he was insufferable and took it out on the whole shop. Finally he came within 2 years of retirement and decided to give up his dream and head off from Hawaii to Davis Monthan AFB in Arizona ("the place they send old personnel and aircraft off to die" was the unofficial motto, alluding to "the boneyard"--the outdoor storage area there for retired/obsolete aircraft).

One year after his transfer (and well after he began getting excited about and making concrete plans for retiring and returning to his beloved California), his name appeared on the promotion list, which produced a delicious (for us) dilemma: did he take the promotion he always wanted (which would require a 2-yr. re-enlistment and reassignment on top of the one year he had remaining, delaying his much-anticipated homecoming), or did he retire on schedule (which would mean not accepting the stripe he had wanted forever)?

Either way, he lost something precious, and we loved it!

What keeps me sane in dealing with people who bug me is knowing that "time heals all wounds" and remembering that the converse is also true: "time wounds all heels."

Even better is when divine justice hits, because then I can smile sadistically while enjoying their come-uppance, safe in the knowledge that it's their own "bad karma" that caused it!

Alright, Karin! The reason I gave the advice that I did was because it's my way of proving that I'm not the cause of the other person's miserable existence. I'll be as happy and jolly to others (in that situation) so that I know that I've done everything I can to make sure that it's that person's problem, not mine. If I'm rude to that person? Then, that's just giving them the ammo. that they need to continue being a *%$@# because, to them, I've been rude. Clear as mud?

Years and years ago, I worked in a dental office, and everything was fine until this one woman was hired. This woman was one of the most manipulative, lying, backstabbing people I have ever met. What made it particularly bad was that she made this big deal about being a 'Christian'. She was the most UN-Christian person I've ever met!

So all of a sudden, once she'd arrived, all these mistakes were being made, and my boss was blaming me. I would try to explain that I hadn't done it and that it was this other woman, but he wouldn't hear it. He couldn't understand why I was trying to blame it all on this other woman. She would act all flirty with him (but nothing inappropriate) and she just had him wrapped around her little finger - so as far as he was concerned, she could do no wrong. Well, after several months of this, I had had it. It wasn't just this woman - all sorts of circumstances were combining so that I knew it was time to move on. But just before I left, a third woman who worked there and I sat down with the boss and tried to lay it on line about how horrible this other woman was. I was hoping that he would realize that since I was leaving anyway, I had no reaason to lie - I was going to be gone, so what difference did it make to me how she behaved? But he still wouldn't listen.

SO - only 2 or three months after I left, my mom went in to get her teeth worked on, and my former boss said to her that he owed me a BIG apology and that I had been right all along about that woman. After I left, this other woman could no longer blame all her mistakes on me, and it became pretty clear that she was the one screwing up all the time. Things went downhill pretty fast after that and she had been fired by the time my mom went in for her appointment. So at least I felt vindicated! But I will never forget how horrible it was having to work with that woman.
