Actually, I live in a small town, so no suburb....but the pots and pans idea is a good one. Might find him on the roof (which I do occasionally) when I come home instead :)Elizabeth

Good idea, MCW! Here in Phoenix there are worse stories of toddlers being run over. It would be safer if he were indoors--a farm is safer than the suburbs.

Try revving the engine really hard, and banging some saucepans at the same time - this should scare him, and then he'll hopefully associate the car revving noise with feeling scared, and not come close anymore.

Cato has a bad habit started when he was young and we lived on a farm with a gate, he likes to escort my car into the drive. On the farm, I stopped the car, got out, opened the gate and then he would walk in front of the car escorting me into my driveway. No amount of honking would get him out of the way. I have no idea how he sees me in the car or what he thinks it is. Now, at night he runs into the street in front of my car to escort me into the driveway. No amount of honking will get him out of the way. This morning he tried to escort me down the street to work. I couldn't honk so I stuck my head out of the window and yelled/whispered at him. Didn't help. Any ideas on how to change this behavior without running over him? Or am I stuck with an escort cat. Elizabeth
