Afternoon everyone, have been reading some of the back posts just for the smiles. Sleepy but can't seem to sleep, its too warm and summer isn't here yet...but there could be worse things though. One of co-workers and very good friend's 6 yr old son has been having multiple seizures since late yesterday afternoon, never had one until 2 weekends ago so its scary and puzzling right now. Another very dear friend has been getting sicker daily for the last 2.5 years and it seems that the doctors can't quite put their fingers on what is causing her health decline (enlarged heart, very aggravated life long asthma, lungs that she has 10% use of, and daily migraines)....so my last few days have been spent worrying about them both, not complaining in the least just tired.

But enough of that droning today, coming here makes me smile, looking at my granddaughter makes me smile so there are good things in life :)

With as many surgeries I have had on my abdomen, a rather unkind physician once said "You sure give new meaning to Crossroads of America {still lived in Indiana at the time})! I always smear pure Vitamin E oil on scars from the Vitamin Store. I have my new bottle ready to go!

When my dad had open heart surgery 25 yrs ago, they cut him from neck to navel!.... the scar was huge..... he rubbed vitamin E oil into it, and five years or so later, you could hardly see it, maybe about an inch long in the center of his chest was all that remained.

MC... Just as a "something" that worked 40 years ago...........My first husband was in a mid air collision, and his forehead was split in half. He daily rubbed pure cocoa butter on the scar. It was amazing that the scar disappeared within 6 months!!! Fortunately for you, the scar will eventually be covered by your hair when it grows out. And I am so envious of anyone that has ever had to their thinned!!!! Your flowers will bloom, and bring you much joy!!

I have tried multiple times to set up my account with GD's help on multiply. I am going to do pix before, during the hair shaving, at the hospital, after, and the progression of my hair "rebirth". I can't get the darn thing to work and it makes me so angry. I paid for a "premium" membership so I could customize it and now I feel ripped off. I have been loading up the IPOD too for the hospital, some meditation stuff for before surgery and some for after (for faster healing)

Hm, let's see, how to answer. I have several scars on my scalp and one that runs down the side of my neck. The only people who ever comment on them are hairdressers; they tend to get a bit weirded out. The guy who does my hair now is the only one who ever said "I just want to make sure I'm not going to hurt you or something", which made him a keeper.

The only surgery I was old enough to remember was when I was 16, so a million years ago or so :) I *think* I remember that the scars healed up quickly with no problem. I was glad when my hair grew in enough to hide the one on my head, though.

I agree with KW that it sounds like your doing some very smart planning ahead. Grab bars would be a very good idea.

I think you're going to be a lot braver about this than I was, MC. I was a self-conscious, miserable 16-yr-old who wanted to hide in her room until her hair grew back. You don't have to feel like that.

One of my daughter's friends had a brain tumor removed. She maintains a website which shows her head shaved and her stitches. It follows her as her hair grew back. There are lots of photos on it. If you click on her "my story" link, you will see more photos from losing her hair due to follow up chemotherapy. She looks great now and she is about to become a mother for the first time! http://jennyterpenning.googlepages.com/

KW, I was just thinking yesterday that I can't remember the last time George seriously bit me. He still bites hubby sometimes, but that's because hubby uses his hands and feet as toys, no matter how often I point out that doing that just encourages George to bite. But he hasn't attacked me in a long time (Kilroy does a quiet happy dance because her kitty loves her).
