SM, so sorry things are trudging along and you are not getting better. As a scholar of the brain, your cerebellum is the location of the "temperature" regulation system. If that was where your TIA was located you could be suffering residual effects from that. That can go on for up to six months before it evens itself out, the brain tissue heals very slowly. Also the anterior or occipital portion of your brain sits atop of the cerebellum and may too, have been effected in the TIA resulting in visual disturbances. On top of that the thyroid issue may be rearing its ugly head again due to the insult to your cerebellum. As for all the blood work, they were looking for certain proteins in your blood to determine if you were at risk of another TIA and/or stroke. That way they could give you meds to combat something really bad from happening. I too, have temp problems as it is my cerebellum that is squooshing out of my head! Sometimes I am red as a lobster I am so hot, other times I am wrapped in two blankets while wearing sweats. Our brain is a magnificent but complex organ. Be an advocate for it, if you don't get the answers you want please keep asking. I learned that, it took me a year but I am finally getting my brain all fixed up. Please know we all worry about you and think you are WonderWoman for all you do! Hang in there and know the prayers are flowing freely your direction! ((((SM))))

SM, please hound your dr about testing your thyroid hormone level. If it's off even a tiny bit, it can cause all kinds of problems. Ask him to not only test your TSH but also your free T2 and T3 levels. If your energy is low, and your temperature it low, that sounds every alarm bell for a thyroid imbalance. Stay after him!!! And I'll keep you held in prayer.

I think you are right. That is why I was in with the doctor today. Hubby called him. I will see him again next week. Took the kids outside for a celebration today and got burned on top of it all. It is like insult to injury at this point. Anyway I am not doing very good so Hubby made me go and I have to even check in next week. I am getting weaker and today was horrible. Tomorrow will be better.

It is hard to be an advocate for yourself when you are not feeling well. It would really help to have another person with you who can be sure all necessary questions are asked on your behalf. I noticed that with my hubby when he was in the hospital last Thanksgiving. He was seen by about three different doctors and his memory of what his symptoms were was not accurate. I had to remind him of symptoms he'd complained of to help his docs sort out what was going on.

Don't beat yourself up about whether or not you could have done anything to avoid this happening. We have been completely socialized to revere doctors and take their word as gospel. It is hard to ask questions if you get stuck in that don't question/disrespect what the doctor says. I think most doctors today would not be offended by questions.

Don't know about that, but I have learned that if you don't ask questions nothing will happen. Proactive with care seems to be the wave of things. It is easy for a doctor to just dismiss a person as stressed or weight issues and move on. When these little issues--the TIA crop up they are willing to ask why. Perhaps had I been more active it wouldn't have happened. Think I would have learned this by now--seems I always need a refresher course in doctor dealing 101.

KW is right on with the above info. Brain and thyroid are both critical in regulating temp. Please double check on whether your thyroid levels were recently done. Especially hypothyroidism would be easily treatable and could be the culprit.
Wilson's doisease is rather rare, I gather you hadreason to believe that you had or have this?

"...would require your bed partner to surreptitiously insert a thermometer into some body orifice without disturbing you."

Husband said he doesn't have combat pay anymore! I do think it would be wise to start charting my temperature in the morning before I get up. I know that the charting at school has been after I have had a cup of coffee, although it is long after.

I suppose you could have both an abnormally low amount of thyroid hormone released into your blood stream (which shows up in blood tests) as well as a problem with how your cells absorb the hormone once the blood delivers it to the cells. Good idea to ask questions, especially if they aren't doing a good job of telling you what they are trying to do with things like blood tests every two hours. You might be able to be more helpful in getting to the bottom of this if the doctor is more forthcoming about what the causes might be and what symptoms support or oppose a particular cause. I hope any specialist you are sent to views you as part of the team! :)

Well I had read the information on Wilson's Syndrome, but assumed that I didn't qualify because I did have an abnormal result and it said the tests normally show near normal function. Beginning to wonder if I will talk myself into something. Time to start looking at that notebook and writing down questions to take with me, especially when they send me to the specialists.

Never thought to ask what part regulates temperature. According to brain anatomy it is the cerebrum. Seems to be the same system that regulates vision. Wonder if this is all linked to the TIA. My bleed was filmed on the left side of my brain. It affected my vision. Don't know but now have to question if there was residual damage that is causing this little issue.

I don't understand and doctor hasn't gotten it through my head the problem with my temperature. I understand hypothermia, but why can't my body stay warm. I don't understand that. I feel like the vampires had their way with me. I went on line and other than being in cold conditions for extended periods the only thing I see that relates is heart disease and that was ruled out and circulatory issues. I have a feeling that my circulatory issues are now worse than I suspected. My arteries may be cleared but the flow from my legs is sluggish. Is that a good way to describe it? I go back in 4 weeks for that issue. That is if the vampires haven't done me in!
