Think twice about giving up being a vet. Years ago when I was in college I thought that I too couldn't put an animal down. However, I have different thoughts now. While it would never be pleasant, animals that are being put down are usually terminal cases, so euthanesia is an act of mercy and kindness as the animal is out of the terrible pain. I still couldn't work for a humane society that put down animals because they'd been in the shelter for too long however. I really wish I'd become a vet but hindsight isn't even 20-20; its 20-10.
I have considered becoming a vet tech but have moderate back problems which limits how long I can stand in one place. Anyway, this is a topic I've researched in depth so perhaps you can benefit kiddo.
Here is the accredited AVMA website for vet techs:
http://www.avma.org/education/cvea/default.asp. A person can make this either a two year or four year program. Each state has its requirements for licensing. There are a number of quality online/distance programs as well. On the left side of the page you'll see a tab for that. The program in Texas is oustanding and can be taken via distance ed. The program in NM is the most affordable or used to be. Here is another nice page:
http://www.avma.org/careforanimals/animatedjourneys/aboutvets/becomingtech.asp
I encourage you to rethink about not becoming a vet. The one thing that concerns me about being a vet tech is possibly working for a veterinarian that cuts corners and doesn't give the animals the best care. I wouldn't stay working there long for sure. However, if you became a vet you could create the kind of clinic YOU would want to have. I always thought I'd devote some of my time to low-income families or the elderly who are on fixed incomes, with reduced or free care so their pets would be healthy. Anyway, if you have any other questions or concerns let me know as I'll be back to keep track of your "kids" and you. Take care and God bless!

And great news, found Nox and Chev a home. Rav will be staying with us( I know a shocking turn of events) Chev is very VERY independant, and though I think Nox's unique color and markings and coat is very pretty, he seems to be very detached and independant, just not as much as Chev lol. Rav on the other hand is pure lap kitty material...personality wise I think Rav is the one to keep.
They are going to a family friends' mothers place and will be kept together. What more could I ask for? It is going to be hard on Rav I think not having his siblings. :( I need to take more pics!!! They are so precious.

The new owners will never know the hrs I have spent with these guys, the nights up bottle feeding them every 2 hrs, and all the messes I have had to pick up. But they are alive and healthy, and I hope they will bring as many smiles to them as I am sure my lil Rav will bring to me in the years to come.

You have done an excellent job raising these precious babies! Since you aren't employed I thought of something. With your skills at animal care and love for animals, did you ever think of becoming a veterinary technician? If this is something you want to do there are several websites I can recommend. There are even online/distance programs you can take. Texas has an outstanding program. Just had to mention this. Take care and given smooches to all the kittens for me!

If you had to keep them all, how many animals would that make for you? A hoarder and a person with lots of pets aren't necessarily the same thing. If you can provide food, medical care and good living for 15 animals, you aren't a hoarder. If you can't provide decent living for 5 animals, but refuse to let them go to other homes, then the hoarder definition would probably be right. It's more a matter of the quality of life, rather than the quantity of pets.

How socialized are the kittens? If you could take them to visit at nursing homes and provide those people with a couple of hours of quality purr time each week, that would make your clan 'working' cats. You might eventually find that one or two of them were adopted by the rest home staff.

Glad to report that Nox is doing better, his boy parts are healing up and are going down in swelling. Applying the polysporen 3 X a day and keeping him isolated has done the trick.
They are growing SO fast, and I am glad they are not drinking formula anymore, as they would eat me out of house and home!!!
Raising these little ones has been a life experience. To see them so small and helpless, and now they are lil devils with so much energy, and growing so fast!!!
I am already sad, because in a few weeks the 2 will be leaving me...but at the same time I am exhausted, and want them to go to good homes. I know that I cannot keep all 3...but I am happy to keep 1...but I want to keep Rav as well...It is very very hard to let Rav go. I am kinda thinking of keeping Rav and maybe giving Nox away...I am torn and heartbroken. Chev, the girl, I dont know why but I just do not click with her, she is really rumbuxious and kinda mean...she has a totally diffrent personality than the two boys.
=^.^= Thank you Nawlins for all your advice and all the replys to my post, seems you have been with me every step of the way!

You are telling me! I would take a pic of the damage but it is very graphic. My parents are scared he might die...it is that severe. It litterally happened in minutes, with their teeth and everything it did not take long to do some horrific damage to the boy. I have to keep the 2 greys seperated because they do the same thing AND I have caught them fighting, very violently...I wonder if it is play fighting or what but it didnt look like romping/playing and it was over their food bowl. It looked like 2 grown cats having a fight, not something some lil kittens could do.
