Well all is good with Leo today. Came home from work and he was snoozing away! His teeth are really starting to show and he started biting on my fingers today so I may try some kitten food tomorrow. Can anyone tell me how I can change my picture now. That is not the one I intended to put up there and when I try to change it on that avatar website it just keeps saying Primary? So I even deleted it and it is still on here. Thank you all for helping me and giving me advice I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks everyone for your advice! I greatly appreciate it. I came home from work this morning and he actually had gone potty all on his own. I was proud! lol. I still help him to go potty though. I just didnt think he could do it on his own yet. So he got a bath this morning. He has started to get some teeth but you can barely feel them. I keep my dogs away from him for the time being Im afraid they may make him sick or viceversa. I only let them smell him thru the cage so they can get used to his scent. Again thanks Everyone! I am gonna try and get some pics of him after he wakes up. Hopefully I will get them up soon!

aww Leo is a great name :) when he starts biting on the nipple of the bottle make sure you change him to wet food and get him a toy he can bite on so he doesnt ruin anything. he can sleep and play with it too! other foster mommies will be on soon so keep checking back. good luck and you are def an angel for taking him in.

Thanks for saving the little lion! Orangies are one of my favorites... Fostermom gave great advice, just be patient and you will be rewarded with a loving pet for a long time to come! Be very careful of the dogs - without meaning to they can easily hurt a kitten as small as yours is...

I'm going to guess less than two weeks old from what you've said. Eyes often open at 5 days to a week (longhair kittens take a little longer), and then ears open fully in a week or two.

He'll start using the potty on his own at about 3-4wks. Cats have a natural impulse to "dig and cover", so just introduce him to the litterbox and he'll get the idea when he's able to control his elimination. Right now, you can help him get the idea by stimulating his elimination over the litterbox. He will have the scent of his pee on the litter, and one day you'll probably come in and see him playing in the litter and then practicing digging. You can test to see if he's ready to do it on his own by placing him in the litterbox after meals, but keep in mind that he probably won't be ready for this yet.

He'll let you know when he's ready for wet food (canned) by starting to bite the nipple of the bottle. At this point, use some of the threads above mentioned by Jcat to learn about weaning. After some canned food, you can get him used to the dry food that he'll eat later.

Make sure to keep him warm and dry, and keep the dogs from hurting him. After all, the dogs' impulse will be to see this little guy as prey. Also, take him to the vet to get checkups and vaccination dates.

Thanks for taking care of him!

I found a newborn kitten on 5-11 It actually came with a boat we bought. It didnt have its eyes open but they opened on 5-15. I am not sure how old he is now. This is the first cat I have ever had so I am not an expert. I am only guessing that hes at least 3 weeks old? His teeth are starting to show. Can anyone help me out? Like when does he start going to the bathroom on his own? When can he start eating kitty food? How will I know when he is ready for the litter box? He is orange and I think long haired. He stays in a crate in a bed with rice bags underneath. I have 2 dogs one of which loves him and the other doesnt know what to think of it. Anyone have any good advice? Thank you.
