(((Karenopa)))How wonderful that people are remembering and honoring your Bryan after all these years!

I had a long day. Had to be at work for a stupid front desk meeting at nine. EBL kept talking and I had trouble getting out of here and to my tennis match, so I got there late. Played for a couple of hours and then went to the sushi buffet with Auntie Ellen - yummy, but I'm stuffed now!

Poor Taco!!!
Last night I cleaned out one of the boys' litterboxes and it was really yucky so I decided to let it soak for a while so I left it in the bath tub with the scooper on the bottom, soaking, too. Well, this was very interesting to Mi, who kept trying to get the scooper out of there! I ended up cleaning the box and filling it with clean water. Then I filled a prescription bottle with water and let it float in the litterbox for Milo. Boy, did he have fun with that!!! Got quite wet, too!

Poor baby Taco! He looks so much littler when his fluffy fur is wet! After my disaster at the hospital today I decided to treat myself to Panera for dinner. I got the Tomato Mozzarella Salad! It was absolutley delicious! I even treated the girls and got them each a butter packet! They love to lick the insides after I use the butter on my bread! They were so happy and purring afterwards! :)

Haha, thanks guys. He is surprisingly good in the bath. He just sat there and didnt meow once. It's probably because he's so used to it from when he was little and had to have them constantly. He got a nice warm towel and a heating pad and some treats after his bath.

My classes are over and I'm on my way home! I'll try to hop on tomorrow between classes again.

Not sure how that was going to work together but I sure thought it would. Maybe I was going to help the animals on the moon! LOL Karenopa, what a wonderful tribute to your son Bryan that a classmate named their son Bryan. That says a lot about you and him. What wonderful people you are! Gini, hang in there, your computer will be well again soon! How are Taco and Feeny???

Well, right after I say I can live with my computer screen, it decided to go completely white with rainbows and I couldn't see a thing. I found a place that will let me fix it on credit and pay it monthly so its being fixed as we speak. I am posting from a computer at the lab at school. I am between courses (first one ended half an hour ago and next one starts in 45 min). Today is an okay day overall but seems to be going really slow for some reason.

I'm so happy to hear that Richard was there to witness the return of the shuttle. It almost seems as though his brother wanted him there just at that moment for one last gathering in a place where they hold special memories. That's beautiful Karen!

SMM....We've been having thunder storms here too the last couple of nights and the cats all find hiding places to wait them out but my poor Amos is too big to fit under the bed and he's extremely frightened of the thunder. It's like 4th of July all over again. Hope Syvester & Mia settle down soon...these storms sure are upsetting for them all. =(

Thanks for the hug SOM!!! How neat that you saw the shuttle return too! What a special pride you must feel in witnessing it. =)

AV...It's such an awesome name! My son Martin also told me last night that he spoke to one of the teachers in the school whose son was one of my Bryan's best friends and she told him that Christian and his wife just had their first son and they named him Bryan in memory of his friend so long ago. What an amazing honor this is. To have remembered Bryan so warmly over 20 yrs. later to have named his own son after him. *getting all misty* Sigh! :)

Wow - that would be a sight to watch the shuttle being brought in!

The mama hummingbird appears to be sitting in the nest. The male goes and gets the food and brings it back and feeds her. I may have to get another hummingbird feeder and put it in "their tree", so that he doesn't have to fly all of the way to the back yard.

Good morning all. I was up at 5am (up 45 minutes earlier than I needed or wanted to be). My cats were so restless last night. They were wrestling so hard that I heard Sylvester do a sort of half meow half squeak. I had to seperate them at that point. Mia must have been biting him too hard. They did this again this morning and I think that might have what woke me up as usually if they are in the bedroom, I get them running over my bed and me in it. Naturally it is usually across my stomach or abdomen. Ooof!

As I was getting ready to leave, we had a loud blast of thunder that was so loud the building vibrated and a few car alarms went off. It was quite scary as we don't usually get thunderstorms. Seems were are to have them for today and the next day or so. Strange weather for my area. Temperature around 68 degrees but with the humidity feels warmer.

The tree near my bedroom window use to have a hummingbird's nest (we had babies last year) but a crow got to it this year or so I was told by another tenant. We have the mourning doves nest and they are on batch number 4 (batch number 3 went to a cat). When they are finally done with this batch, I am going to remove it even if the maintenance guy doesn't want me to remove it as his saying was they were there first which is incorrect as they arrived after I moved in and the maintenance guy moved in even later than I did. The property manager said she would just turn a blind eye and if asked who removed, would say she didn't know. I came to this decision last week when Mia took a flying leap at one of the arriving doves and fell through the tree. She landed on the ground and cowered under the downstairs balcony. I had to hose her with some water to get her to the point where I could reach her. She wasn't hurt, just shocked at the fall and the water. I toweled her off. I really want to put up some sort of chicken wire setup but the new property manager said no. So Sylvester is down to seven lives with his two attempts at flying and Mia is at eight lives with her attempt at trying to catch a flying dove landing in the tree.

SOM, I would have been out with you shouting about the shuttle too. What a sight that must have been. Karen, I bet your husband was excited too. What a nice memory. The event of the shuttle must have been a gentle message from his brother.

Yes, hummers love the color red - I wear my hair up in a barrette most of the time, but last year in the mountains I had it pulled back in a pony-tail using a red scrunchy - I got buzzed so many times by the hummers checking it out. I want to hand feed them - I have seen some people on U-tube using little red or orange milk caps in their hands and even just the nectar colored red cupped in the palm feeding them - that would be cool. There is one video where a guy has a feeder hanging from his baseball cap and the hummers feeding right in his face.

Hi All!!!
We have a hummingbird feeder right outside our patio door....they do love the color red.....this little guy is SO friendly! He also likes to sit on our brightly colored azalea bush....if I sit out on the steps, I'll hear a loud buzzing and my first thought is always a big bumblebee, but it turns out to be our hummingbird! He hovers right in front of me like he is saying HI...lol....and I have seen him come to the patio door and look in the window! They really are darling birds, my fav!
Hope your MRI is fine, MC, and also yours, SM when you have it.

SOM - Richard was on the Cocoa Beach Pier when the shuttle came in - he had gone to have a beer and remember being there with his brother as they were growing up. One of the other people there asked him if he was there to see the shuttle return - he had no idea it was coming in. It flew right by them and he got a picture with his cell phone. It was really impressive and I know he will always remember that when he thinks of his brother.

BTW, my Dad was proud to say he designed the Space Shuttle nose cone! He was a design engineer for Curtiss Wright.

Hi all! Witnessed the shuttle cominig home to Fla on the jet last night about 7:00 pm. What a sight that was. We were in the porch and I said that it was a funny plane coming at us and as it turned we could see the shuttle on her back! I ran outside screaming I saw the shuttle, the shuttle is back. Bob thought I lost a marble or two.

Karen, thaks for sharing that story about Bryan. Bittersweet moment. {{Karenopa}}
