Thank you KW. When my parents divorced, he made sure he was with me every Saturday night. He took me to the Y-Center and we would swim for hours. Then he took me to Burger Chef for a cheese burger. I have great memories of my Grandpa.

Daughter is packing--wish I was video recording this--she is a trip!!!

Well it was 65 years ago today that my Grandfather was shot on a beach--Omaha it was called. He always wanted to visit France--hard way to go about it. He was lucky because he took the bullet in the leg. He didn't die on that beach. In the end the bullets in his leg did take a toll. He waited on that beach for a very long time for help. He got to see many of his friends that tried to take that beach with him, die next to him. It took months before he was okayed to return to the States. He never forgot that day. At the end of his life he took me to his box. I saw the medals that he seemed to careless about, and the things he treasured most--a bunch of letters. Letters with the families of friends that died on the beach, and the letters of the 2 others that were with him that survived. My Grandfather believed that everyone has a duty to support their country--he did and it cost him dearly but not nearly as dearly as the families on the other end of many of those letters. He never got much further than that beach--he never really saw France. I saw a sea of white crosses--I was on my knees thanking Dear God that he lived.

Thank KW, yesturday I had a scheduled showing for 8am (almost sparrow fart)... that went REALLY well ... the people love it. Interesting thing about that was - the people have a business that they shoot TV commercials and web market for political campagins..... I got chill bumps when the guy told me what they did - that's exactly what my Son does, and it a genius at.... the guy was real interested and gave me his card, said to have Son call him as soon as he gets back, he's been looking for a sharp young person politically active that he can give a camera to and let him travel around and do documentary/commentary.... SON would be perfect for that!......
then his partner showed up, a nice woman, who when we walked in my Son's room, looked on his desk and saw his "blue key" certificate.... I thought she was going to cry, she said "I was at UF and I was a member of Blue Key"..... they were so nice, and really want to meet Son...... I have the feeling he's the perfect fit for their summer internship!.... Yay!!!

.... then later in the afternoon, another realtor called and asked if she could bring some clients bye..... what perfect timing! ... especially since we had scurried to get the place "spit spot" for the morning showing.... I told her fine, so she brought over a couple of law partners that also LOVED it!....

.... now we just see who is ready to step off the fence and make an offer.... my luck, they'll both be trying to do something, and I'll be out of the country!...... I must see about setting up an "away" message for my email...and my phone!...

Hi, SMM. It is not fair that the best tasting things are full of fat, sugar and salt, is it?!! I think our tastebuds need to be retrained. I have a friend who has cut sugar completely out of her diet. I've been a guest at her house for meals and I must say that I truly miss the sugar. She is quite thin and otherwise healthy though so I guess it has its benefits. :)

Good morning all. Woken up by my upstairs neighbor, grrrr! I am going to leave a nice polite note on their door asking for them to please try to not walk around so much in the bedroom making the floorboards pop and creak loudly.

It is a nice sunny day with clouds flitting about. One of the mouring doves made the mistake of landing on my balcony railing and Mia almost got it. There was were some feathers on the deck so I know Mia got a swipe at it. She got a big feather and was chewing and playing with it. After four batches I think we have had enough of them. I might see about going and getting some inexpensive type bamboo screen thingy to hang down the left side of my balcony. It would deter both cats from jumping at the doves as well as give me some privacy from those that walk by in the glass enclosed hallway. I am sure they will tell me to take it down but I won't since the other neighbors across the way haven't taken down theirs.

Also, We have red colored finches flitting about the courtyard and Mia is making her high pitched "acking" noise at them. I just realized that I don't recall Sylvester ever making that noise.

D-Day reminds me of many things and one of them is all the suffering that went on with WWII. None of my family were soldiers but my mother's side of the family were Germans and they experienced a lot of hardship after being kicked out of Czechoslovakia and forced to endure a long and painful journey in a dangerously packed cattle car back to Germany. It was so bad, I cannot get my Aunt to talk about it.

I would like to visit Omaha Beach one day as well as other parts of Europe. I would like to visit with Aunt before she dies. She is 82 years of age.

Okay, so after being woken up early, I am in for a nap later today. My two snoozing partners will probably join me. I just drank a Stonyfield Farm organic smoothy and it tasted really good. So I made the mistake of looking at the nutrition facts and was amazed at what I saw. For 10 ounces of smoothie it is 230 calories, with 3 grams of saturated fat, 150mg of sodium (seems high for yogurt drink) and 38g of sugars. Yikes!! Guess I won't be buying this item again. Darn, it tasted so good too.

Good morning, Everyone! I hope that you all have your American and British flags proudly flying today in remembrance of that day 65 years ago. A few years ago Mr. WWM and I were fortunate enough to visit the American Cemetery at Colleville, right above Omaha Beach. It is a very sobering experience to enter that cemetery and be confronted with a sea of white crosses. We went down onto Omaha Beach which was so serene and still the day that we visited. It happened to be low tide, just as it was when the Americans landed that morning. Just seeing that expanse of beach that our troops had to cover to reach a bit of safety was daunting. If I closed my eyes, I could almost see and hear the ghosts from that day. As we were walking in the cemetery, the bells began to play Taps. Mr. WWM and I stood at attention (as all good former soldiers will do) and looked at those graves and the beautiful sight of our American flag flying in the breeze. And neither one of us were ashamed that there were tears running down our faces. Then we went to Point du Hoc, where the American Rangers scaled the cliffs under intense fire from the German 88mm guns that were on the heights. The American losses were horrific, but the Rangers took the ground. Mr.WWM was a Ranger, and so that was an especially moving experience for him.

We also visited the museum that is located where the famous Mulberry Bridges were built. And we visited the sight where the first gliders with British troops aboard, landed in advance of the assault on the beaches.

It was humbling to stand on that ground.

I was in France all day yesterday with 29 10 year olds. There were 7 staff along so each teacher had a very small group of about 5 children. I don't have a group because I ma the registered first aider - I have to be able to run from group to group. I am also the chief photographer and I buy the prizes for the project they have to write about their day in France.

We left school at 6.00 and got back at 8.30pm. It's a LONG day!
