I'm in Pembroke Pines, FL, which is just west of Fort Lauderdale.
Would have posted sooner, but had to wait for Pie - my 10 year old tuxedo kitty - to finish kneading. Both dogs are currently asleep near my feet. Other 3 cats are elsewhere in the house. Happy Thanksgiving to ALL.

ailuronaniac, I too am in Kansas City. However, Having been raised in Boston and lived 2 years in Minnesota and 4 years in Iowa. Unlike you, I die in the summer here. The winters don't bother me at all. Actually, I don't think of them as winter at all. Ah well! It's all in what you are used to.

No need to be in awe, Karenopa --- I bake truffle tortes and other specialties professionally, so I practically turn them out in my sleep. Doesn't sound very exciting when it's put in such basic terms, does it? As for getting up at 3 a.m. --- been doing it for years, so it doesn't seem strange to me to be baking and cooking at that hour. I actually enjoy the quiet of the wee hours when everyone else in town is sleeping. It's MY time!

OK, I have to add, although I live in the Dallas area, and have been a TX resident since the 70's, and was born in Baltimore MD, my heart and my upbringing is and will always be New Orleans LA. From the age of 3, through my 20s (except for a stint in the Navy).

Hi, everyone!

MM and I live in the smack middle of Oklahoma - where the weather happens. We dress in layers here, since the current weather may hold, or we could expect a blizzard or heat wave this afternoon. We actually reside in Edmond, a suburb north of Okc. MM works in The Village, and I work between Bethany and Yukon. Our home is in a tiny, independent country located inside of Edmond city limits, and is called The Evyl Robot Empyre.

We are accompanied by Ferrule, a lynx-point alleymese who is a bat-giraffe; Emerson, an incredibly loving and laid-back tonkanese who is a monkey-bear; GloryBell, our beautiful, long-finned, shusui koi; and, of course, Meezer Boy, a brilliant, but very eight-year-old boy.

When we aren't chilling in the Empyre, we are camping, or generally raising trouble in the surrounding country. ;-)

Hey paulajeanneMT (and Molly).

I am a Southern transplant who disapproves of KC winters. I am a Native of Mobile Al with a West Texas upbringing so I guess the disapproval of winter is to be expected.

The locals laugh at me a lot in late Sept and October when my coats come out and they return to an amused state in March and April while the coats stay out.
After 12 yrs residence, I am still not aclimated.

I still like KC. The theaters, museums and other activities lacking in the smaller venue of my youth.

I spend roughly half of each year in either the state of Misery or the state of Missouri. The biennial change of state thankfully does not require a geographical change. Regardless of the state the City is Kansas City.

Hi, I'm in Independence, MO, right outside of Kansas City, MO. Instinct, I worked for ATT, it's hell on the inside too. Pushing 0 used to get you to a real live person but it doesn't always work that way anymore. Sometimes, when you come to the end of the automated sentence if you don't do anything and just wait, there will be a long pause and then the system will say if you want to speak to a person push whatever. Sometimes I just push whatever, until I get to a real person even though it is wrong and have that person transfer me and/or give me the correct number to call. Ohyes, I have 3 cats: Lil'Bit, Snowball, Misty, and one Pomeranian, Rusty.
