Does the litter box have a cover on it? Many cats will not use a box if it is covered. And is it in a quiet place...kitties like privacy. Does he cry or strain when using the box? If so, an immediate vet visit is in order. If he is just a picky kitty, give the litter "Cat Attract" a try. It worked wonders for one of my cats who had a problem as a kitten. BTW...it is not a clumping litter. Click on "Find our product" at top of page at this link to find out where it is sold in your area.

My older cats are that way. They are 5. They will eat after I change the litter completely. I used Hamster bedding for the first year. I am also using it now for Sydni and hes 2 1/2 weeks old. Hes been peeing for 5 days in it and pooped 2 times. But he perfers to go on newspaper so I put it right in front of the litter box. In a few months I will use less and less newspaper to encourage him to go in the box. Good Luck.

Sometimes what happenswith kittens particularly at that age need shredded newspaper instead of litter that's what we did instead of litter when my cat was that young and she stopped peeing and pooping on the floor and started using the litter box. If you need to you can put litter under the news paper shreads to train the kitten to use litter too. Wait to swich from newspaper and litter to just litter by when they are 2 years old.

My kitten, Godzilla is now 5 months old. Sometimes he goes to the bathroom in the litter box, and other times he does it on the floor. The litterboxes are always clean. I can't change the litter (I use Yesterday's News because he will eat clumping litter) and I'm not always with him 24/7. I don't punish him and I praise him when he does go in the litter box. How do I get him to stop pooping and peeing on the floor and go in the box?
