It's 11.45pm NZ time, ...the night is very chilly in NZ and cool to warm in USA ..... so time to close Night Shift and snuggle under the comforters, so here goes gratis AZDEBRA, LV , & Tigger from the beginning....good job everyone & bless you...

check - turns fountains off
check - lights off and turns out neon "TDK Night-Shift" and "Poetry Jam" sign in window
check - night lights glowing gently, puts on cool jazz radio for ambiance and stragglers check - cat flaps swings creeeeeeeek (pulls out WD-40), check cat flaps again to ensure they swing quietly and effortlessly

Hi, MCW. Tee hee, Libby is still terrified of people, including my mum, so when Mum comes to stay, I call her 'scary grandma'... Luckily Jasper is quite happy to jump up on her lap and give her drooly kisses...

Like your thinking, that's exactly what I would do in your shoes. Sadly Mum isn't allowed a cat where she is, but if we ever get #4 ourselves (if, who am I kidding?!) then I think I'll try and involve her in the decision making process. I just wish at least one of our mob was a bit more forthcoming with her, I think they all just think "eek, hoomin with big stick, RUN" when they see her!

Hi, MCW and MS, glad to hear your mum's considering another kitty, MS, the house feels really empty without them, even when they were little ratbags! (Not that Mitzi was, of course, but Jasper was tonight!)

I'm slowly working on her and she's really missing that company and something to cuddle and talk to during the long night hours so given a wee bit of time and some visits to the SPCA I can see her with an older cat.

Hi MCW, Mum and I are both fine although a bit cold tonight. She is missing Mitzi, having someone to talk to. The lady from the cattery where Mitzi holidays brought Mum a wonderful photo of Mitzi. She takes pictures of every cat she looks after no matter how many times they may stay with her. How's Bones doing?

Hi, MS and anyone else still lingering. I just got back from my hula class a short time ago. We are in a new space that is much better than the gymnasium we have been using for our class since last September. I see that Airy is getting ready to fire up her sewing machine. I need to do the same! There are about four different costume pieces that each of us needs to make for our luau event on August 1. I have a friend in the class who has never sewed in her life and I am making hers as well. Good thing they are very simple! lol

I was just thinking about that, GK. What a relief. I called my principal in April to let her know that I was going to be out for a few days for health reasons (with a note, although I didn't even need it) and the only thing 'that woman' mentioned was asking me about how we're going to get the kids ready for TAKS. I rarely miss and that's all she said. Needless to say, when I got pink eye, I made sure to take every day I could suck out of it ;)

Ginny, great to see you posting more regularly again. I was missing your razor sharp sense of humour.
SM, we are starting to get H1N1 passed on through the community now rather than through people returning from overseas travels. So indirectly linked to travellers, ie no known contact. Taking precautions now whenever I'm out, washing hands etc.

Still, FH, there are bennies, and they're big: no TAKS testing (although we do have to align lesson plans to the TEKS), and no TELPAS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jackson--that's where I was born, but I don't remember living there. I've visited there a few times.

Psycho Kitty (Queen Tut) was a beautiful Maine Coon who was inherited from the kids across the street when their mother died. The woman had a seizure and fell out of the bed and broke her neck. Tut had been coming over to my parents garage for a while and the kids asked my Dad if he'd take her. Little did they know that she was so psycho---they definitely think she was either abused or raised in a bad cattery place.

Well, I'd better try to get to sleep, too. I have 2 doctor's appts. tomorrow and I'm already shaking about the second one :(

Uh, no, actually. I earn about 11 hours of paid time off (that's either sick leave or personal time) per month, and nine company-paid holidays per year. All told, it comes to about four week's worth. No teacher planning days, either--that has to happen when the kids are on the monthly field trip--if we aren't chosen to chaperone. If we are, then oh, well.

FH I think your Mom deserves a nice lap kitten. It is good that people will take those unfriendly kittens too, but a nice lap cat would be a nice change. Teaser is unfriendly. She will sit next to me, but I am not allowed to touch her--she doesn't hiss, instead she makes this awful growl! Maybe when she gets back from Michigan she will feel like thinking about a lap kitten.
