Easiest salmon recipe I ever heard..... place salmon on aluminum foil on a cookie sheet, pour Italian dressing over the fish, bake at 350 until done. YUM!

I started looking online because so often you think you're eathing something healthy by having a salad or something, but those things can be totally loaded with calories, fat and salt. The cheesecake was very rich - I preferred the salmon!

That is a great idea, I do that all the time so that I can watch my intake of calories, fat, sodium, etc. Your salmon sounds wonderful! Glad you had at least a little bite of CC. When you share it is so much better, those pieces are HUGE!

Sounds like a nice lunch, GD. I love salmon and what you had sounded delicious. Good for you to prepare ahead of time so you knew what you were going to eat and what the salt content, etc was going to be. I do that sometimes too.

Well, first there was the bread! Then I went healthy and had herb encrusted salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes - VERY yummy! (Kept eyeing one friend's pizza, though!) Afterwards she insisted on the three of us sharing a piece of some kind of chocolate cheesecake. At least we shared, so it was just a few bites!
I have discovered how most restaurants' menu information is online these, so knowing I was going there, I went to their menu to find something that wasn't loaded with calories, fat and salt. It's a pretty neat way to chose something healthy and skip all those calories.

It sure does, Karin, even in this heat!I'm going to take it a bit easy this weekend once I get off work Saturday. I need to get a hold of the landlord and get the key to the community pool so I can go hang out there.
It's also time to hang out with the boys. They seem to have missed me the last few days.

MC, when I went to Germany my first time when I was 10 with my Dad and my sister (mom had died earlier that year) and we brought home a cuckoo clock as well as a dirndl dress for my sister and myself and lederhosen for my Dad. He bought this all with money that was received for reparations from the German government for their losing their farm in Czechoslovakia when the Germans were kicked out. My mother's family was anti-Nazi but they still got ordered out of Czechoslovakia. My grandfather buried in the ground on their farm a motorcycle with a side car so the Nazi's wouldn't get it.

GD, wow, what a busy day! Losing those 32 lbs must give you extra energy now. Hope you can get some rest this weekend.

I love the Black Forest! Yes, keep me in mind. My best friend and I were going for our 20th Anniversary of being exchange students (2007) but it just wasn't financially feasible as she just got divorced. I told her we just need to go but since then she has gotten remarried and her dear husband is blind and had a kidney transplant. Needless to say financially it just isn't going to work for her. I might have my surgery bill paid off by 2011~lol! I love the Black Forest cuckoo clocks! Beautiful!

Hi all! Hope everyone's well today and that MC's head feels better and her temp's down.

I had a long day again. Last night I worked til nine, went home and took care of the boys and then at 9:45 went to meet a friend I'm dog-sitting for Thursday-Friday. She ended up chatting and I didn't get out of there til 11:15pm. Then went to the dog-sitting house and walked the dog, finished a load of laundry and straightened up because the owners were coming back today. Finally got to bed around 12:30.
Today I got up early, walked the dog, went home and took care of the cats and then off to the tennis club 25 minutes away to supervise a match. It was 95 degrees and 100% humidity - yuck! Went home and showered and changed and the to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate a friend's birthday. Home to upload match photos to the league coordinators and then off to work.
Tomorrow I'm covering two matches, meeting the league coordinator for a late lunch, dog-sitting for a new dog and going to work. Yikes! I'm looking forward to the end of this week!!!

MC, I visited Strasbourg back when I was 15. I really liked the city then. I took wonderful pictures of the cathedral but unfortunately left the roll of film behind where I was staying. My aunt is two hours south of Frankfurt near the Black Forest.

PMuk, do you actually get to enjoy your summer break or do you have to prepare for the next term? I wish here in the States they would have us be at least tri-lingual. The strange thing is they don't have us learning languages till we are in high school (or at least that was the case when I was in school) when it should be started as soon as possible. I wish my mom had spoken to me in German when I was a child so at least I would have that in addition to English and later on French. oh well. If I am to ever get the chance to travel, will make sure someone in the group speaks the language fluently.

English schools break up in July. State schools usually finish towards the end of the month, but because I work in a private school we finish earlier. My last day of term is 10th July - Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We get 7/8 weeks summer holiday, state schools get 6. We are start back sometime in the first week of September.

I know how to ask for the bathroom, how much, where is..., and another beer please. All the tourist phrases of course in addition to some other phrases learned. I have an aunt in Germany who speaks very little English.

MCW, do you listen to eine kleine nachtmusik by Mozart? I have a cassette tape of his music. I really enjoyed listening to it. Since I no longer own a cassette player, have to find a converter to change to MP3 or CD. A project that I am hoping to work on in the next couple of years.
