When I first read your post I thought "fibromyalgia". I do have a diagnosis of this and it sounded just like me when I was first diagnosed. I saw about 5 different doctors before anyone decided that is what it was. My neurosurgeon said that the condition I just had surgery on is often first diagnosed as fibromyalgia. It has many of the same symptoms (plus many more). He said that is not to say I don't have fibromyalgia, only time will tell as I get better from surgery. Lyrica is an outstanding drug and don't be afraid to take it or ask for help paying for it (it is pricey, couldn't use it if I didn't have insurance). Best of luck! (((CW)))

CW....I'm sorry you're feeling so badly. The fact that it all began the week you drove to Tennessee makes me suspect something from that drive or from some exposure while there. I find it odd that pain relievers are not relieving the pain. Do you have access to a hot tub? Water therapy literally saved me back in the years after my son's death. Sending you prayers Deb that you will get to the bottom of this soon. ((((CW))))

CW,
Please see a doctor. As TL said your symptoms as described are too vague and I don't want to toss in a panic but you mention the pain radiates down from your elbows to your hands. Women are under diagnosed with heart failure too often and it is being discovered that their early symptoms are not only atypical but also not as pronounced as in a man. However, pain radiating down an arm seems to be a common thread.
I cannot diagnose but you need to see someone ASAP.

CW, I was wondering if you had both RSI (repetitive strain injury) (also called OOS, overuse something syndrome) from too much time on the computer, coupled with back pain from the drive. They both get me from time to time, especially when I'm overstressed.

But Lyme disease sounds horrid, if you think there's any chance you've been bitten by a tick, I'd get that checked out as TL suggests, yuck!

{{{CW}}} I know long drives really cause me to get stiff muscles, aching elbows and lower back, and pretty severe hip discomfort. The long drive coupled with the hours on the hard marble floor at Macy's could set you back a bit! I spend a lot of hours on my feet and take two pairs of shoes to work and switch them halfway through the shift. It really helps with the hip and lower back discomfort as well easing up the pressure points on the feet. If you have a leftover gift certificate for a massage, I would definately see about using it. My prayers you are feeling better soon.

Hi CW. Sorry, have not been on for a few days.
Sorry you are not feeling well. Have ot read all the posts...nonetheless; your symptoms are way too general for anyone, yourself included, to try to sort out without a thorough exam and possible blood work etc.
Fibromyalgia is usually a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning after all else has been checked out and come up negative. If your symptoms had only been from the waist up, I would wonder about neck issues, pincehd nerve etc, especially since they started after long drive, maybe you were driving with a stiff torso (I tend to do that with long drives or if I'm stressed). But since you have lower extremity symptoms also, you really need a full thpurough evaluation. Don;t know if you;re in a high tick area but certaiinly Lyme disease can cause generalized joint pain...good news, this is worth looking into as it is treatable. Any chance you could have had a tick bite, is there a rash anywhere? I'll post a photo of the typical lesion.
Hope you can get checked out soon, and feel better ever sooner. Hugs

It's possible, CW. Fibromyalgia is a really difficult diagnosis to make. And because it is primarily a woman's disease, some doctors seem to feel that there's not even a real condition called fibromyalgia. I have read of so many physicians just sort of marking it all up to hysterical women. But in the Atlanta area, there should be specialists who deal with fibromyalgia. Chronic fatigue syndrome can accompany fibromyalgia.

I would so some research of physicians in your area. Don't waste precious money going to someone who isn't going to listen. But if you already have a family physician that you trust, then that's a good place to begin.

Thanks WWM. I will probably see a physician next week if things don't improve. Today at work my elbows and hands hurt more than ever. I took Excedrin with both aspirin and acetominophen and it did nothing for the pain. I am going to take a long hot bath and see if that helps. Do you think it could be fibromyalgia? Last night I finally googled "I hurt all over" and that is what came up.

I'm just finding this thread,CW. I'm so sorry that you're feeling crummy! I am more "mature" than you :-) and I wouldn't attribute all of those symptoms to age. It sounds like there is definitely something going on. I might suspect arthritis, but that wouldn't manifest itself so suddenly. Your symptoms do sound rather flu-like, but you would probably be running a temp if it were the flu.

I understand about the insurance thing, but I really do think that you need to be seen and evaluated by a physician. You have too many symptoms to ignore. The problem with us trying to figure out what it might is that all of those symptoms could be attributed to multiple causes. I am just a firm believer in not ignoring symptoms.

No one around me is sick, but I have been under a lot of stress. It seemed to start the week I traveled to Tennessee for work. It involved a lot of driving, standing on my feet all day and not sleeping well in a couple of the hotels. A few days after I got home I started to feel *more* tired instead of recovering. I'm working a lot of late nights and early mornings on the computer since real estate has picked up and I have a lot to do before and after my makeup artist job. I am working at a Macys last week and this week that has a very hard marble floor in Cosmetics. By the end of the day my feet and back are killing me but everyone else there seems to manage. One more thing...extreme thirst! I've never been a big water drinker throughout the day and night but now I am always thirsty. I feel better from your responses, since it could very well be part of getting older and stress and be something normal. I tend to think the worst, so I'm rubbing my sore arms and thinking...bone cancer? leukemia? I think I will try a massage, thanks for the suggestion. My son gave me a gift certificate for one 2 Christmases ago and I never used it!

They call that "getting older"---sorry, I don't mean to tease. Have you been under a lot of stress lately, using the computer a lot, doing more physical things than usual? The lower back, pain radiating down the leg kinda sounds like a possible pinched nerve. How about trying a good chiropractor, or even better, have a full body massage? If it's stress, that may help some. Whatever it is, if it continues and/or gets worse, you should see a doctor.
Good luck-and I wish you the best.

What could be the reason for just feeling pain all over for no apparent reason? It is mostly in my elbows, of all places, but my hands hurt, there is pain radiating from my elbows to my hands; my lower back, knees, ankles, pain radiating down outer leg, etc. I have not worked out in many weeks so it is not muscle soreness. Also, I am exhausted. I slept all afternoon today after lying down on the couch after lunch. Another thing...taking Tylenol or Ibuprofen doesn't do anything. I've googled my symptoms but I guess they are too vague for me to find anything out that way. I've had this for about two weeks now.
