they where raised together (I've had many many kitties over my life time)
and we don't neuter most of our pets
it's unnatural and expensive (even 20$ is expensive to my household)
my problem isn't playing with him
it's him having things to do when I'm doing things around the rest of the house and running errands and I'd love to build him a play area but there is barely enough room to walk in my room.. I went from a large room and walk in closet to a very small room and closet
I'm hoping to save for one of the climby things that don't take up alot of room

and Clover (Sir CloverLeaf) was a year the beginning of this month

(he likes paper balls but only if I bat them back at him lol)

Have you tried using Feliway to calm them down? Neutering is a must if you want two males to get along. Also, rub the little one with a piece of your clothing so he smells like you before you let them go together.

How old is your cat? Are both he and his dad whole (i.e.: not neutered)? If so, neutering would go a long way towards letting them get along.

Cats like climbing, hiding in little cubbyholes, and chasing things. You could try putting together some cardboard boxes of different sizes into a stack 3 or four high. Stack them so the openings face different ways.

Cats sleep a lot of the time so he may not be as bored as you think - especially if you play pretty vigorously with him in the morning and evening. Feathers or paper balls on a string that you make "fly" for him will use up a lot of his energy. A couple of 15 minute sessions with you each day will go a long way to keeping him happy.

Just be careful not to leave the string where he can get it when you aren't there. Lots of cats like to chew on string and it can be very dangerous (sometimes fatal) if they swallow it.
