My cats got sick a year ago because I used the Hartz brand flea drops and flea collars. To add isnult to injury, they still got fleas as well!

My vet said never, never use a flea collar...nor Hartz brand flea drops in vile placed on skin between shoulder at neck. Calling your vet is a good way to do it safely!

...... I use Advantage, but both mine are indoor only, so I've never had fleas.... Son uses Revolution - says it works better on his cats (and skunk and ferret)......

Hi Ron! I haven't used flea collars in quite a while; the boys were on Frontline for several years. I used to use Hartz back in the day, though.

Hi, Ron, since Advantage and Frontline and Revolution came along, I don't use flea collars any more, I never liked them much and one of our cats used to have terrifying reactions to them. But Advantage and Frontline are a bit expensive, I must admit. I think someone had a tip on using one of them in bulk, I'll see if I can find it.

Here it is: Scarver's great tip on making it cheaper to treat your cats with Frontline: http://www.dailykitten.com/chat/topic/18379

Hi, Ron. My cats are indoor only and have never had fleas so I'm no help to you on this question. I know that Anncetera recommends using food grade diatomaceous earth to rid a home and outdoor areas of fleas. Here is a link to one website that sells it: http://www.dirtworks.net/Diatomaceous-Earth.html#anchorD20

Okay I forgot to hit post when I first wrote! Hi Ron. Anything but Hartz I would say. We have lots of discussion about fleas this time of year. I added the tags in the upper right hand corner. If you click on them you can see other threads about fleas. One of the best things is diotomatius earth. It won't hurt your animals. You can use it on them and in the house. There are other threads that can explain much better than I do!

By the way how are you doing Ron?
