Apparently in that state, it was law that the lender must provide that documentation. Well, it turned out that the banks couldn't locate the original documents in a huge majority of those cases and the home owners were able to stay in the house for up to two years while the lender tried to locate the paperwork. Have you called your mortgage company and explained the situation and that you are looking for a job? If you have equity in the house they will work something out with you. Banks are so overloaded with foreclosures they are letting some people stay in the homes 12 to 18 months before foreclosing! Don't just move out until they tell you to go! Also, many people don't know this...if you are living in the house when the bank has foreclosed your loan and sends a realtor to tell you that the house is now bank owned and you have to leave, ask for CASH FOR KEYS. Tell the Realtor that you will leave the house in broom clean condition for...say $2000. If you had free room and board, but didn't have to be with that person 24 hours a day, you could go back to school part time and maybe even find a part time job. </p> <p>Maybe your parents know of someone who needs some help to continue living in their own home. Cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry are all things you have to do anyway.
