Karen....you can absolutely do it all again!!!! And it can be as good if not better. I wasn't looking for love when I found it in my second partner..maybe that's why it worked..we became friends way before we became lovers..Find someone you can trust...there's a whole world full of trustworthy people to share in the joys and upsets of everyday living. When you least suspect it they'll show up..When the time is right.

Catwoman..I was married for 20 yrs. and had two children (one tragically passed away at age ll) and it took me many, many, years to make peace with the sadness of such a wonderful young love that was meant to last forever, yet ended.(his need)...but I've been with a wonderful man for 18 years now and even tho we're not the young, hopeful, determined lovers of my youth....we are the young, hopeful, determined friends that will bring us peace and joy to our closing days.

I've actually got some elephant ivory somewhere that came off of antique piano keytops. I just haven't found any really cool way to incorporate them into a project yet. They would make gorgeous inlay on some wood project, wouldn't they?

I bet MeezerMama will be delighted to have a forge attached to the house. Make sure you build one a good distance from the house if you please. Now glass making is another one that is interesting to watch. I once got to watch a master glass blower. It was amazing how they took a rod of glass and created a beautiful glass bowl.

Instinct, I have not forged any blades. Like you, I am fascinated with the process (especially folded steels, i. e. damascus, samurai differential tempered, etc.), and would like to know the techniques used. However, I also know that the demographics for glaziers, metallurgists, and painters have an incidence of lung diseases that make chain smoking look safe enough for the Girl Scouts, and I'm planning to stay around for a while for the sake of MM and MB. So, I've bought pre-fab blades, fitted them with my own hardware, and stitched my own sheaths. I love using exotic materials like sterling, manatee ivory, black ebony, purpleheart, English ewe, and leathers ranging from plain cattle hide to the exotics. If I ever get a wild hair and decide to build a forge, I'll let you know and send you an invitation.

Don't be envious of MM and I. Although we are madly in love, we have had our trials and tribulations along the way, and have beaten the severe odds time and time again. It takes two to tango, and sometimes that isn't even enough. That being said, cry if you need to. It can be therapeutic. If you must cry, you will get plenty of hugs and headbonks from this crew.

Oh, just knives in general Karin. And you can't compare yourself to anyone else. It's comparing apples to asparagus when you do. You are totally different than anyone else in the world - may sound cheesy "Your special" crap, but in this case it's true.

Be happy with your strengths, work on your weaknesses, and enjoy your life. Once you do all of this, a relationship won't seem so important because you will still be HAPPY and that is the goal anyway ;)

And that is when a relationship will come along that will fit perfect with you

Okay...tears shed. Went and had a good cry in the empty office. My coworkers are starting to notice as my eyes and face are red. Need to get it together and finish the day. I was informed by my boss that I can leave by 1 or 2pm if okay with my agency. I said that as long as Amgen wants to pay my wages for the day, I am okay with leaving early.

I always compare myself to others and it is a bad habit. Thank you all.

I agree with HM.

Karen, we each have our own path in life. That's why we shouldn't compare ourselves to others and what they have or don't have. We just have to keep looking forward down the path in front of us, so we won't miss the opportunities coming our way.

Catwoman, your right, you won't meet someone who knew you when you were 20 but that isn't really such a bad thing since you aren't the same person you were then.

Karin, I am here for you sister. When I met my husband I had just turned 20. We were married when I was 24 and he was 25. I had my first son 9 months later, and my second 13 months after him. The whole marriage was a struggle, and quite honestly it is not him as a person that I want--it is having the person I grew up with, to grow old alongside and watch our grandkids and all that...also, we never had money, and since our divorce he has started to build his business. He told me yesterday that he is going to take his new gf (of one month) to Europe, which was our dream for 20 years. I continue to struggle along with this. No one I meet today will be the one who knew me as a 20 year old, the one there through my children being born, through all of the old memories. So to say I will meet someone new doesn't really help. I wanted to get married and stay married until the end to one person.

Karin, you have the entire rest of your life in front of you. And it's entirely too short to spend with people who are bad for you!

Time to rejoice that your kitties are settled in, you're managing to get by, and you may have an interview coming up for a promising job opportunity. There are so many things to be thankful for!

Being by yourself is not ideal. I haven't met many people who'd rather be by themselves, than with someone who's wonderful for them.

That being said, being by yourself is a HELL of a lot better than being with someone who's bad for you!!

Besides, as long as you have other TDK folks, and your beloved cats, are you really ever alone? (I know I'm not, not even in the bathroom; cats apparently feel the need to supervise.)

Karin, it's OK. You'll find the right person. You are only a few years older than me and the right person will come along. Just do your thing, have fun in your life and it will happen. Jamie came along for me when I was finally at the point where I was doing my own thing and just relaxing with it.

Don't look at it as some sort of failure on your part because it's not! I was in a relationship with a woman for five years and she dumped me. Turns out that she was just staying with me to get her bills paid off and then she moved out to live with some guy she met in class.
