Hi I'm new..... I just got two kittens and I am so happy with them!!!! I told the people at the shelter that we were interested in getting two kittens and they recomended two brothers that were best buddies. Whenever they would take one out of the cage the other would cry till he came back. I have two boys (humans;)) and they are are so happy to each have their own kitten. Now that we have them at home I know we made the right decision. The first night was so sweet; while exploring the house if they fot to far away from eachother they would meow till they found eachother. We have had them for one week and one day. It is so funny to whatch them with their diff personalities. Jumper likes to sleep up high but definitly is the follower of the two while Spirit likes to sleep low but the sweetest thing of all is when they cuddle and bathe eachother
OMG! that is soooo cute! Getting to the point definatly if you can afford it. Also I read alot of advice about kittens who cry at night... most said to get a 2nd cat for company... SO YES YES YES:) I have no regrets at all

Two, get both you will not be sorry !!
I am fostering four and they need each other. What I mean by that is they learn kitty social skills from other kitties. For example one of my kittens learned he would climb the stairs and then called to the others and they all learned together. Another good reason is so they are not alone during they day when you are at work, they will entertain themselves. Not only that but watching two kittens play together is more laughs then I could ever express.

Welcome to TDK, ILT!! TWO!!! I adopted Mac and Grommie together as babies from the shelter, too; they are the best of friends, and still play together. You can go to Catster dot com and set up free catster pages for your new babies when you get them home. Alot of us here have done the same and we've linked our catster pages to our TDK avatars. Click on my avatar (Mac as a baby) and it will link you to his and Grommet's catster pages.

It sounds as though you are able to visit them now before you bring them home. The more you can visit, the easier it will be for them to adjust to their new home.

Ask if you can take a towel or blanket to the rescue shelter for them to sleep on. Make sure whatever you take has spent at least one night in bed with you. That way it will smell like you and like your home. Then when they sleep on it at the shelter, your scent will become familiar to them. Also, the scent of the shelter will then come home to your house with them.

The owner said - Lord only knows what i am gonna do with him when she goes - they are inseperable - I picked up Pixie and cradled her in my arms - Her brother mewed his heart out and ran up my body into my arms - needless to say Pixie and her Brother - Trixie have been the ROCKS in my life - TWO CATS ALL THE WAY!!! he he.xxx

Welcome to TDK, Iliketea! I would recommend getting both of them, too. And I think they'll keep eachother busy playing together and tire eachother out. If you just adopted Charlie, he may get bored and get himself into trouble trying to entertain himself.

As for bringing them home, start them out in just one room that you have ready for them. Make sure you have a litterbox, food and water bowls, a bed and toys for them. Try to kitten proof the room as much as possible - hide electrical wires and anything they may get into that can harm them. As they get used to you and their new surroundings, you can gradually introduce them to the rest of the house.

Hi ILT and Welcome!
I had gotten Chucky and he was/is wild I wanted another kitty to keep him company and it needed to be tough to deal with him, I went to visit my Aunt and her cat had, had 4 kittens there was this little black kitten who was as agressive as Chucky, I told my Aunt I would take her... Well My cousin found homes for 2 of the kittens... The morning I was going home My Black Kitten and her last sibling curled up on a chair and fell asleep together... I wound up with both of them. It was the best thing I ever did. Chucky has calmed down and the girl(Both were female) love him. So get the two it's worth it!
Click on my picture and you can meet all of my Babies!
Welcome
Peace

Oh thanks everyone! I think I'll take both of them...but do you find they get into more trouble with the two of them?

I hear it is acutally easier to adopt two kittens then having 1 because they keep each other occupied during the day and acutally get into less mishief because they are not so bored? Or do you find it is around the same as one kitten?

I named my kitten Charlie Phantom (Phantom is the name he has from the shelter) and Zoey Sky (original Saucy from the shelter).

I'll keep u posted about how it goes!

If you work away from home, two kittens is a good idea. There are a few cats who are very happy being the 'only child' but most of them like company. Two kittens can be a little extra work to start with, but the rewards are huge.

And like everyone said they will keep each other company when no one is home. And they won't get into much trouble trying to find something to do.
Hey if you can, why not get a third one hehe...... :)

I just recently adopted a kitten from a rescue shelter. He was orphaned when his mommy got killed by a cougar. He has a best friend/litter mate that is a female.

This is my first time owning my own kitten. Should I get both? I mean I have cat sitted and also had roomates with cats and have always loved cats.

But I am intimidated by the thought of TWO kittens!
