I love the surprises kitten litters produce! My latest pair (in my avatar) was only one :o) My first pair were a little closer in looks, but still one was a solid black medium hair and his sister was a light gray. My first kitten ever, at age five, came from a litter of -> solid black shorthair (mine!); orange tabby medium hair; solid white long hair; and a grey medium hair.

Thank you! I think they are adorable too! They look so diff from eachother I am surprised they are same litter. Peaches is orange with blue eyes and Allie is greyish white with grey ears and tail with blue eyes almost looks part Siamese.

I know they are fine! I read that, but I also don't want you thinking too much on it either. LOL Sorry, I get a bit long-winded sometimes. Please forgive me!

Ahh the power of Google. OK - so it appears that orphans that pass in thier early weeks are usually victims of Fading Kitten Syndrome.

Orphans can have more problems than kittens who have Mama Cat. Please don't fret, though. Worrying is never a good thing. Just do the best you can. You are already giving these babies a chance they never would have had without you. They have made it to almost 3 weeks! Celebrate! If you are ever concerned by a weaking kitten, a good vet that you have a relationship with can be a great resource.

My Callie, after the loss of her brother Tiger, became very weak and lethargic. She was 4 weeks old at the time and I was terrified I would lose her, too. But lots of love and quick action saved her and you have that caring heart.

I'd be happy to keep sharing my fostering experiences with you. It is a rocky road us foster Mama Cats travel and it can be full of heartbreak and joy. Forget about this FKS and just enjoy these little lives you are touching!

I have never heard of this. Where are you getting information. I strongly encourage you to speak to your vet if you are concerned. Remember if you are getting information from the internet to look at the source. Look for the source to be a vet. You want the best possible information you can get. A trusted vet is the most valuable asset to you and your kittens.

I've not heard of it, and will check it out. But despite best efforts some orphans can pass unexpectedly. My post on "Hello!" and "Sweet Baby Tiger" is an example of this.

No my kittens are fine but I read something about this and it's on my mind. How common is it? What are signs? And what are signs of healthy kittens?
