Thank you for your concern Kittymom: I have named the kitten who passed Angel. One of her brothers I have named Chester, since he looks like the claymation cat in Postman Pat. The third is a pure black kitten I have not yet named. He is the sweetest of all and loves to be caressed much more than his brother. But he also has a strange penchant for climbing on the back of the sofa, sneaking up, then glomming onto the back of my head with all four paws closing over the top of my head as he sticks in nose in my ear. It's not an aggressive move, it's play. He also like to climb up onto my shoulder. That works for now, since he is so light, but I can see what a monster I'm going to have to deal with if he gets as big as Scooter, my ten year-old tom cat and still wants to perch on my shoulder or pounce on my head. In any case these kitties are a member of my family now, just as you are and everyone at TDK.

They're just fine! Thank you for asking! The owner of my apartment building has not asked me about them, so I guess it's no problem my keeping them after all. Plus, my apartment is in much better shape than many other tenants here, so if there is a worry about cleanliness I can allay that fear. I tend to be more messy than my cats in any case. Some time tomorrow, I'll post a poem or two. Everyone here at TDK is so great. It was a sad occurence in my life that drew me to you wonderful people, but that sadness (and guilt) is mitigated by the warm reception of so many TDKers. Thank you to all.

Mine will be free to all my TDK family and signed, of course. It may take a while, but all good things do. Wow to owlwatcher! Your haiku are amazing! And once again, Karenopa, you are wonderful, very supporting. You are very correct when you say that unused talents can be lost, so I'd better get my but in gear and do something about it. (And when I say but, I MEAN but: But, I'm too busy, but there's too much to do, yeah, but later) These buts can delay or destroy reaching goals.

Describing one's cats with haiku can be a challenge, but I have to try:

C.C.

Fluffy calico
Ambassador to heaven
Rainbow Bridge is home

Attitude in fur
Demands for your attention
Next the claws come out

------
Pepper

Trouble in fur coat
You cannot tell this one no
Those eyes always win

-------
Shiva

Black cat stalks a mouse
Does not know what to do now
Captured prey is free!

Cuddle purr meow
Those deep gorgeous yellow eyes
Get her anything

-------
Mamma Kitty

Mamma kitty purrs
Looks at your plate for dinner
No food? Well, good-bye

Hunter stalks the prey
Poor creature cannot escape
Kitty has a snack

-------
Ruso

Kitty may be blind
But he is not defenseless
Watch out for his claws

Sweet baby kitty
Hears "I love my sweet Ruso"
He purrs in his sleep

-------
Simon

Big siamese cat
He's like a little lion
Or a mamma's boy

-------
Rusty

Precious little girl
She fights with her four brothers
But loves to cuddle

Marnet:

How is it possible for you to have just tried writing haikus and to come up with such lovely examples of these poems?! They are wonderful! Absolutely Purrfect, in fact! These are stunning first efforts! They're observant, warm, funny, and wise. I agree with their messages: Just like you observed: why indeed aren't these constantly shedding kitties naked? Your second haiku was spot-on again: just like yours, my cats absolutely act like they're starving every day and are extremely picky about their food at the same time which is why I once wrote this haiku:

Fancy Feast only!
Finicky skid-row cat has
Beverly Hills taste!

The idea is the same, that most cats demand their food be the absolute best, but your haiku is much better than mine, boiling down the experience into a wonderful haiku. Your other haiku are representative of what the original haiku was, and that is to look at a bit of nature and then to concentrate that observation into the 5-7-5 structure. I am Kitty Poet, while the haiku you read on this original posting are from my mom. You both are masters of this form and absolutely MUST continue writing them! Please submit more here!

Haven't tried haiku before so pardon my efforts.

Four brat cats at home
shed feline fur like crazy;
Why aren't they naked?

Starvation meows,
trembling tail, pathetic eyes
ignore offered food.

Pink yawns with stretching
elongate languid kitties.
Swift pounces follow.

Staring eyes focused,
immobile concentration,
hunting pretend prey.

Swiftly wielded paws
Strike without any remorse
to kill catnip toys.

Mom, your poems are great, and I thank my TDK family for welcoming my mother so warmly as you have done me. Mom, I think if you post a short story, no-one would object; these are among the sweetest people in the world.

Here's a few more, from the serious to the ridiculous. Also a question. Could I post a short story?

            Curious cat, caught,
Caged, fed, petted pampered, loved,
Longing for freedom.

            Summer door, sunshine.
Winter door, snow. Mycat seeks
The door into summer.
(Homage to RAH)

            A black cat, hunting
In a green field, should have a
Green coat, grassy fur.
(A Chia pet?)

            Why does my kitty
Shake her paws before drinking?
Pause that refreshes?

            Paws for refreshment?
All seems pawsible. Perhaps
Plawsible. Meow.

There. Got those out of my system. KPMom
