I think the plastic spikes might work but will have to figure somehow to tape them down so I can remove them to use the printer. </p> <p>As for the book case, it is an old scandanavian design bookcase that has an area that is enclosed. the top of the enclosed area is where I put my picture frames, my box of my kitty whisker's ashes and some pictures of her. Mia is so tiny that she can squeeze herself behind the picture frames. Again, I think those plastic garden things might help. Thanks for the suggestion. Even tried aluminum foil around the plants to keep them out of there, yeah they balled it up and batted it around the house. They usually make enough noise and thump that the cat won't do it again.</p> <p>Unless, of course, your cat turns out to like the ensuing excitement of slip, crash, thump, yell. (Better than being bored, I guess!) If that's the case, well, um... fresh rue thickly laid down wherever the cat shouldn't be, should do the trick.</p> <p>(Rue is ridiculously easy to grow, and pretty to boot.)</p> <p>Or you could try strips of double-faced tape where his feet would land/climb. Cats absolutely hate getting that stuff stuck to their feet. You might want to try foam double-faced tape, as its adhesive seems to stick pretty thoroughly to whatever surface you're attaching it to.</p> <p>Alternatively, as a low-cost alternative, take a roll of clear wide packing tape (for sealing up cardboard boxes) and tear off one long strip, and two short bits. Lay it down sticky-side up, and tape down each end with a short bit. Cover the surface, wherever the cat would step, land, or climb. He loves to climb onto a chair or the sofa, flingover on his back right at the edge of the seat...then slowly..with all four paws outstretched..slide down onto the floor. Sometimes he's able to slow the process down so that you're on the edge of your own seat waiting to see if he'll fall or not fall.He likes us to reach out just before he drops to save him..he bats us away and away he goes! Mia launched herself out of my hands leaving a nice fresh scratch on my right hand. Last night it was Indy 500 kitties.</p> <p>Also, question for all. How do I get Mia to stop wanting to climb up my computer hutch or my bookcase? I have used the water bottle before but don't like to use around those two areas as I don't want my computer equipment or my books getting wet. Any ideas? Saying No loudly or clapping my hands together loudly isn't working any more. He's figured out that if he cries when she is being too rough I will yell at Tita and make her leave him alone.
