Thanks ILMC, I'll try that. I'm sure it does hurt; I still remember the doc finding the spot and that was many years ago!

Thanks for your well wishes & ideas. ILMC Iam going try your suggestion also. I can relate to scooping poop! Scooping the litter boxes makes my arm worse, luckily for me that is one chore my son has temporarily taken over for me.

Back in March I was told I had the same thing. I was given a antiflammatory med for it but had side effects I didn't like....dizziness and trouble with my vision. Once I stopped taking the meds that cleared up but my arm still hurt. This may sound crazy but this is what the doctor told me to do. An Ortho doctor told his son to do this and it works or at least it did for me. If you bend your arm and hold it across in front of you...you can find the place in your elbow that hurts and I mean really hurts. Take your thumb and apply pressure to the place that hurts...hold it for like 30 to 60 seconds. I swear you will want to cry. Do it every hour for a couple of days and it should start feeling better. If you have flair ups start it again. I don't play tennis either...but he said someone who gardens alot will have that problem. In my case..it was also from cleaning the horses pen...scooping poop!!

There are certain pain remedies that claim to go right to the problem area.
I have also used pain patches which are adhesive and the meds go to the exact
area per your placement. (Not sure about elbows...but it worked on my foot &
back when needed.)One of my friends sought out acupuncture with pain issues too...if your Insurance covers it!

So sorry to hear about the tennis elbow, hope it gets better soon. I have what they call Popeye elbow or cabbie elbow, supposedly its caused by resting one's elbow on the car window while driving or on the arm rest of some chairs...rather than do the long needle to drain it, steriods and then not knowing if it would come back I choose to take Ibuprofen 800 mg twice a day....I know the stomach thing and all but I have been taking them for years for my neck so whats a few more....

Thanks Karen and Joan!! I have read that this injury affects people from the ages of 30 to 50 the most. I have actually been dealing with this for about 3 weeks. My dr told me to try & not use might right arm, hmmm, when you are right handed that is nearly impossible. Joan I will certainly work on the RICE. Sorry to hear about your pinky finger and that you have poison ivy, I hope those are better soon.

I feel your pain, literally. I don't play tennis either, so I just couldn't resist asking the doc if I would be able to play tennis after treatment! (ba-dump-bump!) It's a swelling of the epicondic(sp??) tendon. I had steriod treatment several years ago and got a brace. It was cheesy, and when I realized this condition doesn't seem to completely go away and comes back when I do certain activities (lifting things, swimming, etc), I invested in a good one at my expense. I took anti-inflammatory meds, which helped a bit. Now stuff is just too expensive, so I take OTC meds to help reduce inflammation and practice RICE: Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate when it gets really sore. Guess I'm chalking it up to age. (I'm only 45, sheesh!) Right now I seem to have injured my pinky finger and that, along with an annoying case of poison ivy, is taking my mind off of the slight pain just above my right elbow. Yep, I'm right-handed too.

Hi Sara...I'm sorry to hear you've got this nagging, debilitating condition! I don't have it but am bothered with shoulder aches (right side..right handed)and know that it really can become an awful pain. I don't have any info to help but want to send you a prayer for answers and healing. (((Sara)))

Hi all, a couple of weeks ago I was diagnosed with tennis elbow. Of course it is in my right arm & I am right handed. I have had 2 courses of steroids, the first wasn't strong enough & the pain came back with a vengence. If anybody has any experience with this I would love to hear your stories. Thanks, P.S. No I don't play tennis, but I do have a job that requires a lot of office work.
