But it sounds like you're doing a wonderful job and getting great help from your boyfriend's mum. You are a star for taking care of this wee baby. We will help with your questions whenever we can, there are plenty of experienced kitty foster mums on this site. Welcome to TDK and your little baby looks like a wee darling!

Perhaps when she gets used to her, your nana will let you take her to the vet. Don't worry about that for now unless there is an emergency.

@Jcat: Ok hearing that makes me feel so un-lost so thank you.
For heat my rooms already pretty warm.
But I also have her next to a teddy bear snuggled in some towels
And she's been fine.

Luke-warm water (in fact lukewarm everything) is best. Little kittens cannot control their own body temperatures and would normally be kept warm by snuggling up to their mums and brothers and sisters.

If you're using the powdered KMR that seems, from what people have said on this site, to cause a bit of constipation. You can try adding a few drops of vegetable oil (like olive) to her formula. To keep her hydrated, you could also try mixing her KMR (if you're using the powder) with Pedialyte (in the baby aisle at the supermarket). Keep in mind that she probably won't poop much in the beginning because she hasn't eaten for a while before you got her and, while on formula, there won't be much to come out (but when it does come, it might be stinky, lol).

Aww They are so cute. The second reminds me of a cat I used to grow up with named Copper. She was my moms parents though. She was a sweet heart. And was never angry. But at least she died old and not of any problems. :)

@ Kitten Whisperer: I actually tried the pinching test. But It said it was for only severe dehydration. But it did settle back. And I knew about the not milking her on her back. MY Boyfriends mom told me everything I needed to know on kitten/ puppy nursing. But thank you anyways. Yes they are. Perhaps she is still in shock from her mother leaving her.

Hi, LCC. Welcome to TDK! Your kitten sounds very sweet. I hope the poop issue clears up. The biggest issue with very young kittens is dehydration. You can tell when a kitten is dehydrated by giving it the pinch test. Gently pinch the skin between her shoulder blades. If it stays "tented" when you let go then she is dehydrated. If it settles back down on her body, she is not dehydrated.

Everyone who has commented here has offered great advice to you. The only other thing I can think of is not bottle feeding this little one while she is on her back. There is a possibility of fluid getting into the lungs leading to pneumonia when a kitten is fed while laying on its back. You can gently wrap this little one in a hand towel (like a little burrito!) and offer her the bottle.

Please keep posting so we can hear how she is doing. You've done a great job so far. Good luck!!

5 things will help a lot.

1. no cow's milk.
2. keep the kitten well hydrated.
3. keep the kitten warm. you can do that with a warm hot water bottle rolled up in a washcloth.
4. a small stuffed animal approximately the kitten"s size will also keep her warm and make her think she's got a friend to sleep and cuddle with...
5. stimulate her to poop and pee...

All I can do is welcome you to the group and wish you luck. Kittens are so fragile you are being heroic to try.

Call your local rescue groups they may be able to help you get some professional care for the baby.

(I dunno if this is the right link format)

First off this is my first time ever rescuing any animal.
Well I found her under my porch. And my older sister heard it the day before.
But I finally got it the day after. So I went in and got it. But under my back porch is nasty, and muddy, and cold!

I got her and she was cold and warmed her up gave her a luke-warm Dawn Dish soap bath to get rid of all the fleas and mud. It was so bad her eye was sealed shut from the mu. (But I got it out ^-^)

Well, I went to my boyfriends house, and his mother breeds dogs and knows a lot about animals and kinda gave me info. She's about 2-3 weeks old. And she cute, but loud. And it's problems are.. 1. I have to force feed formula with a nursing bottle. And A sirgringe.
2. Her pee had a drop of blood in it when I went to stimulate her.
3. I've had her for about two days. And she hasn't pooped yet.
I've tried she just won't.
4.I'm only 14. And I live with my grandma and she won't pay for her to be taken to the vet. :( It really hurts me.

So I bought a kitten rescue kit. That had artificial bacteria that fights things off. And I started that. What else should I do? :( Please help
