Sorry I haven't been back to update, crazy busy these past couple days.

False alarm! He's much better about it now, usually only right before he falls asleep and his arm looks just as good as the other (no balding or sores). The vet did give him a bit of dewormer while we were there btw.

He's a very happy and content kitten. Thanks for all the support! I'll try to get some pictures of the little guy up later.

He does seem like he is just looking for comfort. When I had my fosters Kissie and Suzie (back waiting for adoption right now!) Sue would suck on Kissie like crazy. I just added extra stuffed animals and offered a clean pinkie every now and then for some extra comfort. You could make your own kitten paci by securly stiching an uncut pet nurser onto a stuffed animal or blanket (seems to be what the expensive ones are made like)- uncut because otherwise air would cause kitty to be gassy and very uncomfy!

Good luck with your baby!

Has he been dewormed? Not sure if 4 weeks is too young for that, but he could have parasites or a virus.

Give him something else to suck on. Kittens suck and knead as a source of comfort. You can try any of the following as a substitute for his own arm:

1. a regular baby pacifier
2. a soft stuffed toy (check for parts that might come off first)
3. a blanket or towel

There's an actual kitten pacifier you can buy, but you should be able to find something to substitute without going to that extra expense. If he doesn't take to whatever you give him right away, try soaking a small part with the KMR. If he keeps sucking at his leg, he'll wear away all the fur and may give himself an open sore.

Can we see pictures of the little boy?

So me and my girlfriend just started fostering this kitten that was abandoned and brought into our work about a week and a half ago. Took him to the vet late one night because his constant diarrhea had begun to worry us however they assured us it was part of the territory and to try powder KMR as opposed to the pre-made stuff in a can.

Things are going well in that area however since yesterday he's taken to licking or what sounds like sucking/biting his right arm to the point that he pushes himself in circles where ever he sits. It looked like he was just starting to get the hang of cleaning himself but now it seems like he just focuses on that arm when he's not eating, playing, sleeping.

We gave him and bath and looked him over pretty hard to find any source of bugs or fleas but to no avail. Your thoughts and advice would be well appreciated.
