What is your kittens name? She's adorable and sounds like quite the character. You should make her a Catster page :) Good luck getting her to poo in the box, I can imagine how much of a pain it is to clean up all the time.

The newspaper she just drags out and plays with it. I did buy the "Kitten Attract" and she actually peed in it! I was so happy. However she is still pooping outside of it. I will try giving her two boxes. Ive heard sometimes they will pee in one and poop in the other.

If she doesn't like litter, but she is okay with towels, you might try shredded newspapers.

My box is just a few feet from the food now that she is in a bedroom. It was a little futher before. She always pees in the box and used to poop right by her food. now she poops about 2 feet from the box. I cant get her to use reg. kitten approved litter. She hates it and will pee elseware. I use operating room towels. She will cover the pee with them. She is now almost 8 weeks old so I will try the litter attractant. Having two boxes just for her sounds like the next step to try. Thank you all. I LOVE this site ; )

Cat Attract has a version for kittens---try that. You may just have a "tile pooper" like my Sheba and others I've had. There isn't much you can do if that's what the cat likes. At least it's easier to clean up than pee!

Sorry didn't see that. Maybe try putting a litterbox over where she is currently pooping. Move the food to another part of the room.

I use wood stove pellats as litter which all mine will use. A plus to me is that i think it smells good. Cats won't eat it either at least none that i have seen want to even try.

yeah furry you are right cats dont like eating near their bathroom. but then why is this little kitte pooping near her food? that is why I made the suggestion since that is what the cat is doing now.
also cats like to bury their poop, this may be why she doesnt want to go in the paper towells. Is there a cover on your litter box? maybe she is pooping in the corner because it provides a little privacy.

actually i'd say move her food as far away from the litterbox as possible. how would you like to eat in the bathroom? Cats have so sensitive noses i can't imagine how an unclean litterbox must smell to them.

It is best to have two litterboxes for one cat. Many cats like to poop in one and pee in the other. In multiple cat households people should aim for 1 litterbox per cat plus one extra.

Try feeding her closer to her litter box! since she is pooping now where you feed her, she may just decide she will go in the litter box since that is where she is already peeing

I am embarrassed to say that I don't know how old a kitten needs to be before she can use scoopable litter. BUT, Cat Attract by Dr Elsey's is GREAT and it's available at PetSmart and Pet Supplies Plus!!!

Ah no I havent. What a good idea. Thank you! Just seems stange cuz she pees in it. I will try that next time. She also never poops when anyone is around so we cant put her in the box at the time. Thats how I got her to pee in it originally.

I have a 7 week old kitten whom I found at 1 week. I was, until today, keeping her in my guest bathroom. She is using the litter box(to pee) when only when theres no litter in it. She poops in the oppisite corner of the room. She poops where I feed her. I have been using towels in the litter box. I have now moved her into a guest room. I have tried the corn litter & wheat litter. Does anyone know when it is safe to use a kitten attractant like cat kip? Id like to try that next.
