<p>thank you everyone! yes Ginger Paw has a collar and tags. She is also micro-chipped. The other cats have lost their collars in the past but last time Ginger was seen hers was in tact so hopefully she still has it on and someone will find her and return her

<p>Hi, my name is Julia and i have 4 cats and a Bernese mountain dog. I have just moved to a condo that does not allow pets so my dog is safely staying with cousins in upstate new york. My cats were staying with my other cousins in Maine. They were fine for awhile but then they started letting them out all the time before they had adjusted to this new home. 2 of my cats, Whiskers and Ginger Paw started staying out longer and longer. Whiskers is almost 10 years old and is becoming senile. it was hard for him to remember where our old home was and he would meow at neighbors doors. we got alot of calls bringing from people who had him because Whiskers has a collar. Whiskers has good phases and bad phases where sometimes he will go months without ranging far, but other times he gets lost a few times a week. but before we moved he had gone to mostly just sleeping in the chair with his brother on the patio. Ginger Paw on the other hand is young, about 5 years (we dont know for sure because when we rescued her they estimated her age.) She was a feral cat and when w first got her she was wild and vicious. but we spent alot of time with her and now she is very sweet but she still has a wild personality that is very funny sometimes. she is one of the cutest cats you will meet, and will snuggle and purr and knead you with her paws. then sometimes she will just growl/meow in a talkative fasion showing she is suddenly irritated, and jump off your lap and prance off. Although we assume she lived in the wild most of her life since her tag said stray and she was rescued from an abandoned house with feral cats living in it, when we first adopted her she knew how to fetch and went to the bathroom on the toilet! we know someone must have taught these things to her, but she obviously had been wild most of her life. So anyway, what I am trying to get to is that Ginger Paw loves the outdoors, and loves to be outside. So, although we would always call the cats back in every night, sometimes Ginger will stay out a few night and appear back. sometimes bearing battle wounds. Once she came back after 2 weeks with a broken leg. we took her to the vet and the vet said it was probably from a trap. Ginger Paw is very resourceful and we know she can survive in the wild and has before. So anyway, Ginger Paw has been gone for 3 weeks from our cousin's house, and I am really worried! My dad went up to look for them and came back with Whiskers who he found miles away, hungry and lost. I am so thankful he found whiskers, who has been with me since I was 4 ( I am 14). But he did not find Ginger Paw. He took Whiskers and his brother Rascal back to his new place that allows pets (knowing our cousins couldnt handle the four cats.) whiskers and rascal ar doign fine, although they got worms at our cousins and whiskers lost some weight when lost. We are taking them to the vet this week. my other cat, Pumpkin is doing fine at our cousins house. she is a real house cat and barely goes out so I am not worried about her. But I am worried about Ginger who has been gone 3 weeks. I am going to make signs and my dad is there looking for her now. If he finds her he is ging to bring her back to his place and not let her or whiskers out until they really get used to the place. My icon is my cat Whiskers, Ginger Paw is a black tortie with orange splotches and a white belly. Her name comes from her one bright orange paw. she is so special to me I hope that my dad finds her or she returns to my cousin's house! I would like people to post any stories they have of cats being lost a long time and being found/coming back, or any suggestions to find her! Also any suggestions about Whiskers becoming so senile he gets lost, any way to help him? Also any good ways to help old cats gain weight? Any stories or help is appreciated!
